PRELIM EXAMS / 19–23 SEPTEMBER 2022

Our students who are entered into NZQA externals in November will be sitting Prelim exams. These exams are very important and students are expected to attend in full school uniform. The results from these exams are to help inform students/parents/teachers on the level the student is currently at and what needs to be worked on. They are also used for class placings and a derived grade for NZQA if needed. A derived grade is requested by NZQA in a situation where a student is unable, because of a medical or traumatic event, to sit their November exam(s). As we did last year, we will also be having timetabled slots for non exam subjects. The timetable will be out shortly. For any queries please email: sturmej@rotorualakes.school.nz

Great news for our volleyball players! We have been in contact with an outside coach who is keen to develop senior girls’ volleyball. This will be for our year 10s and up as they will be seniors next year. The coach is an ex NZ player and we are very excited to get this up and running. When we have more news, we will share this with you. Calls for interest from girls have been put into the school notices. SPORT

Great day out with the Yr13 Tourism class, buffet breakfast and a tour through the Novotel, then ziplining at Canopy Tours.

Exciting and challenging end to the Hockey Season for the 2nd XI Girls Team. You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves. An action packed game against Tokoroa who showed great sportsmanship and teamwork. We lost 4 0. Our defense was strong as was our attack, however, the opposition was too. Big thank you to Bella Wyatt for filling in for players who were at camp. Players of the day went to Bella Wyatt, Sara O'Driscoll and Stevie Lockwood. Lilli Warren was again outstanding in the goal coming back from injury.

Congratulations to all students who participated in the Inter School Sports Exchange against Morrinsville College on Tuesday. We had many impressive performances, and the vibe of the day was electric and positive. Unfortunately, we were unable to come away with the overall win, however, the close contests show that we are more than capable to regain the trophy from Morrinsville next year! Thank you to all our students, parents, whanau, officials, staff, and volunteers for creating such an awesome experience!

FANTASTIC COUNCIL VISIT

Recently, we were lucky to be invited to the Rotorua City Council chambers by the Graeme Dingle Foundation. Firstly the students had an info session about the council and the local job market and were then were taken for a tour of the council building. The students then had mock interviews with local employers. Our Lakes high students, William Davies, Briar Wilkinson and Tehimana Taikato were fantastic and certainly did us proud. SUCCESSES
