Kia ora Koutou, A busy and tiring week for many of our students with Year 13 Camp drawing to an end today (26 Feb). Students have been enjoying many positive activities to develop team work, leadership, empathy and establish how our Year 13’s can individually and collectively impact on our culture as a school. I look forward to seeing how the skills we have been working on are brought back into Lakes High for the benefit of the entire school community. Watch this space! The New Parent Evening BBQ has been re-scheduled for Thursday 4 March at 5 pm in the courtyard in front of the Music Suite. This is an informal get to know you with the teachers and an opportunity to ask any questions that may have arisen with some food. We are looking forward to seeing you there. We have re-scheduled our Investiture Assembly for Tuesday 16 March at 12 noon in the Gym. This is to invest our 2021 School Leaders and to congratulate those students who have been successful in gaining their 2020 NCEA Certificate Endorsed with Excellence or Merit. Invitations were sent to relevant parents / whānau on 4 February. If you have any queries please contact my PA Jayne Humphries, humphriesj@rotorualakes.school.nz. tel: 3456124. Due to upgrades at the Aquatic Centre we have postponed our Swimming Sports day. We will let you know when this has been re-scheduled. It was good to see that we have both Boys & Girls rugby teams up and running. If anyone missed the musters you can still sign up with Lisa McFarlane (Sports Coordinator) down at the gym. The majority of our students have settled into school routines, whilst enjoying the numerous activities available to them. We are currently fine tuning our timetable ensuring that we have the best outcomes and environments to suit our students. We would also like to comment that it takes our whole community to support all our students, especially those who are struggling to find a positive pathway. I look forward to developing specific programs that will help us engage every student. I continue to receive great feedback from our parents regarding our school. I appreciate you taking the time to do this. 1

With some good weather on the way for the weekend, enjoy. Ngā mihi,

Jon Ward Principal / Tumuaki wardj@rotorualakes.school.nz
