GENERAL ACTIVITY DONATION Each year the school seeks from parents a $70 donation per student, (this amount is included in the school fees account). This donation can be claimed as a charitable donation through Inland Revenue. At Rotorua Lakes High School we spend the donation on first aid supplies, school nurse, and to support co-curricular activities. It is unfortunate that we need to seek charitable support from parents / whanau for so-called ‘free education’ but government grants to schools do not cover a lot of extras.
Thank you very much to the parents and whanau who pay this voluntary donation. _________________________________________________________________________________________
CHARTER BUS All Charter Bus students must have purchased their bus passes by Friday 3 August 2017. A term pass costs $180.00 A 10 ride pass costs $25.00 Payable at student reception

NZ DIRT GUIDE CROSS-COUNTRY SERIES 2018 Congratulations to Zach Sefuiva, our Year 13 student who completed the final of the NZ Dirt Guide Cross-Country Series 2018 motorbike ride on Sunday 22 July. Zach was 4th in his class – and showing immense sportsmanship - he stopped to help a fellow rider along the way! This is the first series Zach has ever raced due to fracturing his hip last year at the beginning of his racing career. This is a HUGE accomplishment to finish the series let alone achieving 4th place. The Three-Round Series started in May / June and the final was held on Sunday 22 July.
Great result. Well done Zach.

TARANAKI REGIONAL SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS Great results for our year 11 student, Skye Cox who competed as part of the Swim Rotorua Team at the Taranaki Regional Swimming Championships from 20-22 July. Skye was a finalist in seven events and won three medals: SILVER in 100 Backstroke and BRONZE in 50 back and 200 Backstroke.
Great achievements. Well done Skye.

RLHS GIRLS’ HOCKEY TEAM Rotorua Lakes High Girls’ hockey team played each other on Tuesday 24 July. Great team spirit and respect shown within the teams. Well done X1 for winning and also our 2nd team who have shown great improvement and certainly gave them a run for their money! Well done to all the girls for their hard work in training. _________________________________________________________________________________________
BOYS SOCCER 1st day back at soccer this term and with only 3 more games to go our boys came out fighting against WHHS Development. Jamie Trass scored the first goal with a beautiful cross from Brad Francis and then Robbie Meredith continued the trend with another goal shortly after. Half time score was 2 - 0. Second half Sean Folley had two stunning saves and Lakes scored two more goals one from Josh Morley and the other from Ryno von Wielligh.
What a game! First win 4-0. _________________________________________________________________________________________
BOYS HOCKEY Start of the term saw us travel to Whakatane playing against Whakatane. We have already had 1 win and a draw against this team. With players down and only 1 sub it was going to be tough. The boys started the game strong, clearly dominating play. A goal against Whakatane by Jamalullah Abdul Rahman saw the teams head go up. Unfortunately it spurred the opposition into action and they scored . Second half we battled but Whakatane scored again. We equalised with a superb goal by Jayden Fraser, they scored again! Frustration in the dugout was high. With 3 mins on the clock a strong attack saw Jayden Fraser hitting the back of the goal again to ensure a draw 3-3. POD Jayden Fraser. _________________________________________________________________________________________
