The team were outstanding, winning a Bronze for the Sprint Event, Silver for the Head to Head and Gold for the Down-River which placed the team 2nd overall. Fantastic results Kyra. We were also lucky to have two ex-lakes students, Bella Uhl and Maraea Grant who were also in the team. Well done to all!

The team of Tegan Fookes, Bailey Perkin, Milla Phipps and Angela Rowson competed in this event in the Junior Girls (U16) and Senior Girls divisions. The standard was very high with large numbers from Tauranga schools. Our runners had their work cut out with Milla and Tegan getting the best th th results, coming 10 and 8 respectively. Great results for all our team. Very well done!

___________________________________________________________________________ NCEA Last week tracking reports were issued for all seniors. We know that regular checks help to keep students motivated as well as help them to focus on where to improve. On the NZQA website (www.nzqa.govt.nz) is a personal login area for every student entered for NCEA assessments. We strongly encourage students to login in regularly to site. This allows them to check their entries and current results, look at previous years results, see their qualifications, request certificates and see how their courses relate to the Vocational Pathways Award. More info around Vocational Pathways can be found in this link http://www.youthguarantee.net.nz/assets/Uploads/IntroductoryBooklet3.pdf and the booklet is also attached at the end of this newsletter. To login into the NZQA site your child will need their NSN number (this was on the tracking report as well as being available through their Kamar Portal). For the first time entry they will use their birthdate to register, after the registration if they forget their password there is a forgotten password link.

YEAR 13 TOURISM Students from the two Yr13 Tourism classes were able to do the Original Canopy Tours adventure for a much subsidised rate recently and had a blast! Students learned about the conservation efforts undertaken by Canopy

tours over the years to reduce pest numbers and return the environment to its past state. Because of this action, native bird numbers in the area have increased and during our tours we were lucky enough to hand feed some rare species! Also a hit were the ziplines and swing bridges and there were more than a few white knuckles and screams during the tours. A truly awesome tourism attraction that has been recognised nationally as one of the best in New Zealand. A big thank you to Moerangi Vercoe the Sales and Marketing Manager who came to speak to the classes about the company's development in the weeks before our field trip. ___________________________________________________________________________________________

SPORTS ___________________________________________________________________________ GIRLS HOCKEY The girls 1st Xl hockey team headed to Taupo in the pouring rain to play TNT. When we arrived there was not a cloud in the sky and with only 9 girls on board we proceeded to play a tough game with no subs and 2 newbies. It was a fantastic game with Nicole setting up a great pass for a goal and Winnie, Emma and Tegan scoring goals. Alexa and Danielle defended the goal with passion and Anasis, Stella and Bianca controlling the ball around the TNT players to line up the goals for a 7-0 win. Congratulations girls on an amazing win with 5 players down!

The girls 2nd Xl hockey team had a home game but due to the weather played for 10 minutes before the sky opened up and the game got cancelled.
