Dear Parents/Caregivers
FROM THE PRINCIPAL ___________________________________________________________________________ ART OF REMEMBRANCE SUPREME PRIZE WINNER – LEROY NURKKA On Friday the 20th of April, Deputy Head Boy Leroy Nurkka attended the award ceremony for finalists of the ‘Art of Remembrance’ competition. We were thrilled to hear his name read out as the winner of this very prestigious competition, and to hear him named as the recipient of the $10,000 Education Scholarship. Leroy has also won a day trip and will fly to Wellington along with his teacher Ms Howard. Part of his prize is that he will visit both Te Papa National Museum and Weta Workshop, to meet the staff and have a “behind the Leroy next to his prizewinning entry
scenes” look at these prestigious art institutions. As part of the prize Leroy also wins $1000 for the Photography Department. Congratulations Leroy, you have led by example and shown other students the rewards available when you put in the extra effort. Many thanks to the Ngati Whakaue Education Endowment Trust, Rotorua Museum and all other sponsors for this fabulous prize.
