MOUNTAIN BIKING RACE REPORT by Dylan Walton On Sunday, I raced in the Single Speed Category for the NDuro Winter Series MTB race. I was stoked to come away with first in my category and 5th overall for the short course distance. I was fortunate to have an over 3.5 minute lead over the 2nd place getter, and about 15 minutes on third. Single speed bikes are literally bikes with one gear..... there's no making it easy on the hills by changing down a gear. It’s also an open age category so you're not just racing people your own age. LADIES 1ST XI HOCKEY Another balmy early evening game at home to JPC IV. Lakes came out and scored with virtually their first move of the game. Over the next 50 minutes, there followed a veritable 'goal fest' with the score 6 - 0 in RLHS favour at half time and 13 - 0 at full time. Indeed such was the scoring rate and intensity of action in the JPC goalmouth, your erstwhile Scribe is not in a position to positively identify who scored the individual goals. He thinks that Tyra Wiseman, Sharkayla Dean, Riley Lambert, Rebekah Edworthy, Ella Fookes, Estelle Bilbe and Abi Donald were all on the score sheet, some more than once (I think)! Full time 13 - 0. Player of the Day: Alexa Curtis.
