PASSING EXAMS SEMINAR International author, speaker and trainer, Patrick Sherratt will be visiting Rotorua again to present his interactive and entertaining exam-preparation seminar to our senior students. In this two-hour presentation, Patrick will offer a five-step approach to prepare for exams while building in solutions to many of the common challenges students face in the lead up to exams. If your son or daughter is having problems getting motivated to study, procrastinates, gets distracted easily, has a poor memory or suffers from exam nerves, this will be a "mustattend" seminar. Past students have highly recommended this presentation:  Amazing Seminar. This has completely changed my outlook on school exams and the preparation process associated with it.  Amazing! It was totally me. I found the seminar described the faults I had with school work, study habits and focussing and showed me ways to fix them. Thank you so much!

Held in the school library from 11.30 am – 1.30 pm on Wed 2nd August 2017, this seminar will cost $15 per person. A registration letter is available from student reception. If you would like your student to attend, please sign and return the letter. Payments can be made at the school office from 24 July 2017 or email Mrs D McLeod mcleodd@rotorualakes.school.nz For more information about Patrick’s work, please visit: www.passingexams.co.nz _____________________________________________________________________________________________

SPORTS AT RLHS From our Coaches & Managers ___________________________________________________________________________________________

BOYS SOCCER With only four more games to go the RLHS 1st XI Football team are looking in the best shape yet. This week we played Western Heights 1st XI at WHHS and with a depleted number of seniors the juniors were ready to show their stuff. Keegan Mitchell stepped into the coaches shoes and coupled with Brad Francis captaining on the field the boys were off to a great start. Matt Gatenby's intensive training showed through as he saved goal after goal. By half time the score was Heights 2 - RLHS 0, something to be proud of as our boys played their hearts out. Robbie Meredith and newbie Josh Donald used their speed to get from one end to the other as the possession switched constantly. At the end of the game the score was 5 - 0 to Heights but the boys clearly showed that they are improving and working better as a team. Matt Gatenby was man of the match saving numerous goals.

LADIES 1ST XI HOCKEY We had a very hard fought 1-0 win against Tauhara at home this week. The team ran until they dropped and played well. Player of the day was Sharkayla Dean, who worked hard all game and helped to fire the team up. There was a huge amount of support for our girls from the sideline, and the parents were cheering with this engrossing game.
