DUKE OF EDINBURGH Congratulations to Rebecca Edhouse (Year 10), and to Tegan Fookes (Year 10) on completing their Bronze Qualifying journey over the last weekend up in the Kaimais on the Daly's Clearing and Waitawheta tracks. They braved very cold temperatures and river crossings on their trip, and can be very proud of their achievements. Well done to you both! This weekend, Katie Stewart (Year 10) and Natasha Miller will be in the Kaimais on a Silver level training course, and we wish them well for a great experience!

GIRLS HOCKEY Off to Taupo for another grading game against Taupo-NuiTuahara College. The game started briskly with TNT being awarded a PC in the second minute and scoring to take a very early lead. This adverse start to the match energised Lakes and they hit back with an equaliser after 10 minutes with a well taken goal by Riley Lambert. Hannah Sutton then put them in to the lead after 15 minutes with a coolly taken penalty stroke. This was quickly followed by a third from Sharkayla Dean. The RLHS pressure continued and Ella Fookes added a fourth a minute before half time. It was a slightly stunned TNT that went to the dug out for half time, trailing 4-1. Obviously, both coaches had given words of wisdom and the second half started at a frenetic pace. TNT were mounting many more attacks but the RLHS defence was in good form and held firm. A quick counter attack saw Sharkayla get her second of the night but a couple of repeat minor infringements saw one of the Lakes defenders off to ‘the bin’ after 40 minutes; unsurprisingly TNT got their second after 42 minutes, whilst the RLHS defence was realigning and adjusting to the gap. The remainder of the game was equally matched in terms of attacking moves although neither keeper was seriously challenged; such was the effectiveness of both sets of defenders. A very tired but jubilant RLHS left the field 5 - 2 winners. Player of the Day: Leanna Edwards.

BOYS HOCKEY Another fantastic game last night against Western Heights High 2 with a strong convincing win. Opportunities abounded for the juniors to gain confidence, with a good amount of attempts on goal. The team as a whole connected well. Final score 8-0. Player of the day Jayden Fraser. _________________________________________________________________________________
BOY SOCCER 1ST XI Another wet and windy day on Wednesday as our slightly smaller 1st XI Boys Football team to the field against Tauhara College's 2nd XI. Our team was missing several seniors and luckily their team was also largely juniors. Brad Francis (captain) used this opportunity and encouraged our year 9 and 10 players to a win. The final score was 7 - 0 with Player of the day Brad Francis for his excellent leadership skills. Matt Gatenby (goalie) had his first clean sheet.

MIXED XI HOCKEY TEAM Mixed XI Hockey team last Thursday night played a nail biting game against some very large Boy High students. We defended really well with Kody Mayes in our goal. The game was played running from each other’s end of the field but we defended our goal and the final score was a 0-0 draw. Player of the day goes to Dylan Walton. Well done all.
