Your second and third years will include ongoing work experience and a 12-week block course each year.
Your first year will consist of attending two 12 week residential block courses at MIT in Auckland and on job training where you will learn Electrical engineering fundamentals.
On completion of your 3 year cadetship there may be opportunities for you to move into a specialist position within our organisation.
You’ll have the opportunity to experience first-hand the various facets of electrical engineering, with exposure to project management, design estimation, transmission and network engineering.

Andrew Camuso (Graduate) Network Engineer, Whangarei
Kashani Sharma Design Estimator, Auckland
Andrew Camuso works for Northpower’s Network Planning team in Whangarei. He began his career at Northpower in 2017 as an Electrical Engineering intern and spent his time working throughout the business. In 2018, Andrew graduated from Auckland University of Technology and was hired as an Electrical Engineer Graduate working as a key member within the Network Planning Team.
Kashani Sharma has been working with Northpower since 2013. Her first role as a graduate engineer gave her the opportunity to work on unique and exciting projects including the install of NZ’s first ever rapid charger for electric vehicles. She now enjoys her role as a Design Estimator providing design and pricing services for the maintenance of Auckland network’s ground mounted electricity assets.

We’re looking for applicants that meet these requirements: •
Passed NCEA Level 2 with a focus in math and science.

A minimum total of 48 credits in four subjects (with at least 12 in mathematics).

Be able to work effectively, efficiently and safely.
