RMAG Membership Packet

Dear Member, On behalf of the 2018 Board of Directors, our dedicated staff and myself, we are so pleased you have chosen to join one of the most active geological societies in the Western US! The Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists is a non-profit organization and has been in existence since 1922. Our mission is, “…to promote interest in geology and allied sciences and their practical application, to foster scientific research and to encourage fellowship and cooperation among its members.” We fulfill this mission by providing geological symposia, monthly luncheon talks, field trips, social events, and many publications, which include our monthly newsletter Outcrop and quarterly peer-reviewed journal The Mountain Geologist. In 2017, RMAG conducted a membership-wide survey that yielded statistically meaningful results. The overarching message received from the membership was to offer more and varied programming. As a result of this information we are planning more events, more often, making 2018 the year of opportunity; opportunity to gain more knowledge in your geoscience fields, opportunity to engage more with colleagues and industry professionals, and opportunity to socialize more with other RMAG members. We encourage you to visit our website at: www.rmag.org, read the weekly membership email, read our publications and attend our events. We also encourage you to join a committee. RMAG has 8 active committees: Continuing Education, Publications, Membership, On The Rocks (field trips), Social Planning (golf, sporting clay, socials), Fall Symposium, Educational Outreach and Professional Awards. More information on committee activities and how to join are available on our website under the “Committee” tab. Committees are always looking for new members! Lastly, we appreciate and want to hear your feedback and suggestions! Please don’t hesitate to contact me directly at bkuzmic@rmag.org or 303.573.8621 x2. Also, the 2018 Board of Directors and I want to give a huge shout out to Hannah Rogers, Membership & Events Manager, and Kathy Mitchell-Garton, Projects Specialist. Without these two amazing staff members, all the great programming RMAG hosts throughout the year simply wouldn’t be possible. For those of you who have been long-time RMAG members, thank you for returning! If you are new to RMAG, please introduce yourself. We want to meet you! Best regards, Barbara Kuzmic Executive Director
