The team at Harry Priestley House in Doncaster.
In September, RMBI Care Co. will receive a royal visit from HRH Prince Michael of Kent. This is a tremendous honour and is in recognition of our Home Prince Michael of Kent Court celebrating their 25th anniversary and achievement of ‘Outstanding’ from CQC. In addition, the incredible generosity of the Association of Friends who have coordinated fundraising for a new orangery, will also be opened. Congratulations to Beverley Roberts and her team for all they have achieved.
and created facilities including a cinema room, new hairdressers, and reception area. Before you enter the Home, a new fountain in the courtyard adds an impressive touch.
Also during September our Chairman Sir Paul Williams will formally open the new Mall at Devonshire Court, which has transformed the Home’s entrance
In August we received a visit from the Provincial Grand Master for West Lancashire who, on behalf of the Association of Friends at The Tithebarn, donated a new mini bus for the Home which will be of tremendous benefit for our residents. Various fêtes and fayres have also taken place over the summer at many of our Homes and I was fortunate to attend the Stisted fête at Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court which was extremely well attended.
Caring is our way of life

Going global Each quarter, we encourage our Homes’ staff to focus on activities with a special theme, to help generate news stories about our Homes. From July to September, the theme is ‘going global’ which is about fun, adventure and supporting our residents to try something new during the summer months.
Annual OSKAR Winner Congratulations to Linda Tucker, Care Support Worker at Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court in Porthcawl, who is our annual OSKAR award winner for 2018/19.

About me: I was born and brought up in York, but I have lived and worked in several places around the country. I enjoy learning and new challenges. I have a son who is at Sandhurst Military Academy and is working in the structural engineering industry. My studies: My career has been rich and varied. Never an academic, I did gain entry to a grammar school but didn’t do very well; I was far more interested in getting out into the fields with the ponies, but learned a lot from doing this. My career background: For my first job, I was a nanny to a couple who lived outside Ripon in North Yorkshire. After this I had a similar job until I got married and went to live just outside Lambourn. I worked in a small ex-racehorse yard where we retrained racehorses to do a new job. Another move took us to a village near Aylesbury, where I started my first role in the care sector, working night shifts for a care agency covering most
of Buckinghamshire. I have also worked as a learning support in a primary school, a tutor for a year long prison project and for Young Enterprise as Manager for North Yorkshire. On joining RMBI Care Co.: When I applied to work at RMBI Care Co., I was struck by how happy and welcoming people were. When I was shown around, nothing seemed too much for the staff and I was so impressed by the Home itself. I saw the inside of a lot of Homes when I was working as an agency carer and was shocked by many. I knew Connaught Court had a good reputation in York and now I understand why. When I’m not at work: I enjoy a good social life and have recently joined a gym. My favourite activity however, is sitting in my garden in the evening, watching the wildlife around the pond we made, with a book and a glass of bubbly with my partner.
Connaught Court Activities Coordinator Fran and resident Ron pick out courgettes grown in the Home’s garden this year. They also had some new potatoes, sweet peas, and tomatoes from the harvest.
Cadogan Court celebrates Devon Day We love a fun themed day in our Homes and in July, the Activities Coordinators at Cadogan Court in Exeter, teamed up with the Kitchen Team to celebrate Devon Day!
In the afternoon, a local historian came to talk about ‘Smuggling in Devon’ which both residents and staff found very interesting.
In the morning, residents heard about Devonshire tales over the years and then for lunch, everyone tucked into a Devon themed spread which included yummy Devonshire splits.
