Igor Hrk Joins
Bennion Deville Homes Palm Springs
Bennion Deville Homes welcomes REALTOR® Igor Hrk to the Palm Springs office, located at 201 N. Palm Canyon Drive, Suite 120, along the city’s primary business district in the bustling Downtown Palm Springs village.
Igor works with clients throughout the desert, specializing in the communities of Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs, and Yucca Valley.
Prior to entering the real estate industry, Igor enjoyed a career in the hospitality industry, serving in guest services roles at The Ritz-Carlton and The Parker Palm Springs. Working at two destination resort properties gave Igor a keen insight into delivering high-quality service to his clients. “My experience from guest services allows me to anticipate my clients’ needs and objections, so I can adjust my approach with them and help accomplish their goals,” Igor states. “The companies I worked for stressed the guest experience. Because of this formal training and daily application for years, I bring the same approach to my real estate practice and can deliver at a high level for my clients.”
Igor decided to pursue a full-time career in real estate after he had a positive experience purchasing his own home. “My real estate agent was very helpful and made the process enjoyable. It was exciting to go through the experience with them, and I recognized that I could also help others improve their lives through the purchase and sale of property. I enjoy showing homes to clients and helping them discover the different lifestyle and design options. My favorite part of the process is fi nding the perfect home, negotiating and working on behalf of my clients, and handing over the keys when their home has closed,” adds Igor.
Igor’s key to success is his dedication to his craft and fulfilling the needs of his clients. “You have to work hard every day in this industry. From
building and refining your database to following up with clients, it takes dedication, patience, and persistence. It is important to ensure your clients get what they’re looking for, so listening and understanding their goals is critical,” he continues.
When Igor is not helping his clients with real estate, he enjoys living the desert’s pristine lifestyle. Says Igor, “I enjoy riding my bike around different Palm Springs neighborhoods, especially Old Las Palmas, and taking in the different architectural styles. I especially like seeing the mid-century modern homes and enjoying the quieter pace of life in our local neighborhoods.”
Bennion Deville Homes is the perfect place for Igor to call home because of the agent support he receives from the company. “A friend recommended Bennion Deville Homes to me. I like the support we get from the company, especially at critical moments in the life of a transaction. We get meaningful support where it matters most,” Igor concludes.
Adds Managing Broker Dean Foster, “Igor Hrk is a nice addition to our Palm Springs office. His background in the hospitality industry coupled with his passion for helping others allow him to create a service-oriented style to his business. We look forward to working with Igor and helping him and his clients succeed.”

As Kristen Pawlak of KP Designs/Decorating Den Interiorsknows, interior design is a personal expression of style – that’s how she works with homeowners to incorporate their aesthetics into the spaces she creates for them. h The following bedrooms were designed for three different houses in Louisville, Kentucky, and each offers a distinct look and feel.
Contemporary and chic
Grays, whites, and sleek lines make up this contemporary bedroom. The client wanted an upholstered headboard with shelter sides and button tufts, which Pawlak set against a metallic, geometric wall covering.
“Our accent color here is a pretty goldenrod (hue),” Pawlak said, pointing out the accent pillow that pops among the all-white bedding.
“Something else (the homeowner) wanted was a gas fireplace insert,” she added.” It changes colors – it’s really cool.”
Part of the renovation included building a customized closet system, which boasts hanging rods, shelves, drawers, pull-out pant holders, and a built-in vanity.
“(The homeowner) can tuck in here in the morning (to) get ready,” Pawlak said. “It’s a nice luxury. It’s very lit up, between the recessed lights and the LED-lighted mirror. It’s all that and a bag of chips.”
Pawlak’s pro tip when it comes to renovating a main
bedroom and closet is to be very thorough with measurements, always considering the space needed for baseboards, electrical outlets, and the like.
“It will save you a lot in the long run to have very careful measurements and placements,” she said. “Work with a professional … who knows closet systems.”
Transitional and timeless
The renovation in this Middletown, Ky., house included a revamp of the main bedroom and bathroom.
“If we have a client who is interested in a (primary) bathroom makeover,” Pawlak said, “we have them really think through the bedroom (as well). … It makes sense to think of them together. … There’s a functional standpoint because people can move to a guest bedroom (during the renovation, and) those two areas really need to flow together from a design standpoint.”
Bedroom
Much of this bedroom boasts cool, neutral tones, but Pawlak says this homeowner also enjoys a bit of sparkle and bling. She incorporated glitzy touches with crystal-accented drapery hardware, well as mirrored and silver accents throughout.
The homeowner also wanted to utilize some of their existing furniture – including a chest and a nightstand – in their new space. Pawlak rearranged the pieces, added new ones, and brought in matching rugs to unite both the bed portion of the room as well as the sitting area.
“We also spruced up (the built-in shelving in the sitting area) with this really cool, small-scale wallpaper to make it pop … and add color,” Pawlak said.
Vintage and whimsical
This Norton Commons basement bedroom was part of a designer showhouse, so Pawlak had free reign to design the space as she saw fit.
“The builder (created) an egress window so that it could be called a bedroom,” she said, explaining that to be considered a bedroom, a room must have two exits.
Though the window was built for practical reasons, Pawlak dressed up the space with hurricanes, a roller shade, and drapery panels.
“By building code, (you might) need an egress window, but they can be pretty, too,” she said.
Her goal with the overall design was to give it a collected, well-traveled feel. It’s dotted with suitcases, travel boxes, globes, and other travel-related décor.
“We (included) a lot of cool stuff that signifies a lot of different places,” Pawlak said, “and there’s a nod to antique looks.”
The metal bed frame, she adds, mimics the grill of an old Chevy, and its headboard rests against a complementary wallpaper mural.
“It’s put up in panels … at a certain level so that it would be a beautiful backdrop to the bed,” Pawlak explained. “That’s why the bed is minimal – so you can really appreciate (the mural) like a big piece of art.”
She adds that color was the name of the game in designing this bedroom, so
she incorporated lots of bright, bold hues.
“I loved doing this,” she said. “It’s just a super fun room.”

Popular DIY projects you can do in a day or less
Cheryl Fenton Reviewed.comWhile there are some projects around the house better suited for the pros (looking squarely at you, hardwood floors and indoor fireplaces), some can actually be great DIYs. With no expert needed, you can make the project exactly what you want with just a little time, patience, and elbow grease.
We took a look at the professional cost of a few home projects and decided that where there’s a will there’s a DIY way. While you’ll likely need some tools on hand, like a cordless drill or wood cutting saw, your handiwork will save you tons of money and make the space exactly what you want.
Here are a few DIY home projects that can vamp up your living space.
Build a headboard
Professional upholstering of a head-
board hovers around $1,000 for a deep buttoned queen-sized headboard, so it’s no wonder so many people are searching for DIY tutorials. According to Living Cozy’s 2022 Do It Yourself Index, there have been 350,600 Google searches for ‘DIY headboard’ over the last 12 months, with results ranging from plywood boards to vintage screens and upcycled picture frames.
While having a headboard isn’t always necessary, it can tie together your bedroom décor and protect your walls. If you want to give your new mattress a beautiful bedfellow, you can easily transform your sleeping space by constructing a new headboard.
Cover your choice sized piece of wood purchased from a home improvement store in fabric or paint it for a truly customized look. To keep things even more casual, install a curtain rod on the wall, like these one-inch black curtain rods, a few feet above the bed and drape a nice complementary fabric (or go with gauze for a more romantic vibe) over it.
Build shelves
Stylish shelves allow your items to become display pieces, rather than storing them in closed cabinets. But this comes at a price – having shelving professionally installed in your home can cost hundreds. Why not shelf the idea of spending all that money and instead do it yourself?
Simple shelves made from sheets of plywood can easily be created with a sanded painted/stained piece of wood (be sure to find ones that are level and don’t include knots or warping) and shelf brackets. Get funky by changing up the hardware, or putting a piece of removable wallpaper on the bottoms for an unexpected pop of color.
Hang wallpaper
Gone are the days of buckets of glue for hanging up wallpaper. If you still want to go with the glue-back versions, hiring a professional is advised, and it could cost you hundreds, even thousands, if you
count the cost of the rolls.
Alternatively, there are now peel and stick wallpaper options galore. These allow you to wallpaper a room much more easily than before, but the job still requires leveling, measuring, and matching patterns. And, if you’re in an older home, chances are your walls aren’t perfectly straight. We do recommend you proceed with this trick, because gorgeous wallpaper can really boost a room’s vibe, just prepare to roll up your sleeves for a few hours work.
Most peel and stick wallpapers are even removable, which is perfect for renters. We personally like the quality and patterns from Rifle Paper, like the Garden Party print.
