Pre-eclampsia sent me to Cox from

Phelps Health in Rolla for the second time in only 5 days, where I was induced at 34 weeks and 6 days. Shortly after the induction process began my situation changed, and I needed to have an emergency C-section. Once our baby was born, he was immediately sent to the NICU for assistance in breathing and to be monitored for overall health. It was 6 hours later when I was finally able to see him and over 24 hours until I was able to hold him for the first time. Once I was released from the hospital, my husband had to return home to work and our son was still in the NICU where he spent a total of 29 days. Thankfully the Ronald McDonald House was opening back up after being closed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. I was very grateful for their help during this crazy time. They provided dinner and the hospital shuttle picked me up and dropped me off every morning and evening. They were close enough to the hospital that when I started feeling better, I was even able to take advantage of walking to and from, some days. I was very thankful to have a “home-away-from-home that I could kick my feet up, unwind, relax, and rest after spending my days at the hospital with our son. They always greeted me with a smile, and it was very comforting knowing they had my best interest at heart.
