Our baby Eliott came into our lives 5½ weeks early. I was diagnosed with severe preeclampsia (the worst they have ever seen we were told) and unfortunately this resulted in Eliott having to stay in the NICU. Our family lives somewhat local to Springfield, so we were originally reluctant to stay at the Ronald McDonald House because we didn’t want to take up a spot from someone who lived further away than we did. However, after a few days of sleeping in Eliott’s NICU room, we realized how hard it was going to be. I cannot tell you how blessed we felt when we “moved in” at the Ronald McDonald House. We were provided with a private room, dinner prepared every evening, and donations of food and supplies were made available to us. This was a huge blessing making life easier as our heads and hearts were in the NICU room with our baby that we couldn’t take home yet. I will forever be grateful for this organization. All of the staff were amazing and so was our experience. They allowed us a true “home-away-from-home” so we could stay close to our baby.
