FAMILY PROFILE
Brownfield
Home: Buffalo, MO (Dallas County)
In early 2018, Derek and I found out we were expecting a rare set of identical twins that shared a placenta and an amniotic sac. Due to the danger and rarity of our situation, we were monitored bi-monthly, and at 26 weeks I was admitted to the hospital to be monitored every 6 hours. At 28 weeks, our baby Reagan was found in distress and I was rushed in for an emergency C-section. Unfortunately, Reagan only lived an hour, but Kenadi was rushed to the NICU where she spent the next 70+ days. Even though Buffalo, MO is only 45 minutes north of Cox Hospital, it felt too far from our girl. The Ronald McDonald House opened their doors to our family and we were able to be a short walk across the street away. I lived there permanently while caring for Kenadi in the NICU, and Derek stayed on the weekends. More important than the blessings of meals, a room, and showers, the Ronald McDonald House provided us with time with our daughter and camaraderie with parents in similar situations. Today Kenadi is 2 and a half years old, and our family has since welcomed our rainbow baby, Case. We are forever grateful for the donations from families across the Ozarks that allowed us to have a “home-away-from-home in the most stressful and devastating time of our lives.
