Home: West Plains, MO (Howell County)

In February of 2018, pre-eclampsia forced Hazel to enter the world nine weeks early.

She was too small and too young to go home, so she was admitted into the NICU at Cox Hospital and stayed for the next seven weeks. Living two hours away, we would have never been able to commute daily, with even a few times a week being too costly for our family. This weight was lifted off our shoulders when the social workers at Cox told us about the Ronald McDonald House. We felt welcomed by all the staff and volunteers at RMH. We found comfort and solace in meeting and talking with other guests going through the same experiences. After spending all day at the hospital, we felt relief and reassurance that we had a place, much like home, to relax and regroup. We enjoyed family dinners with other guests and volunteers and the much-needed play areas for our older children. RMH provided us with a home where our family could be together near Hazel. What could’ve been a very traumatic experience for our family was made so much better by our stay at the Ronald McDonald House. We are so thankful that charities like this exist. My family, and other families that stay at RMH, are fortunate that volunteers and contributors spend their time and money to help out in situations like ours.
