Henry Wilder Jones was born via planned C-section on October 2, 2018 at 38

weeks’ gestation. Though there were no complications during pregnancy, upon delivery Henry immediately had trouble breathing and went into respiratory distress. He had been measuring on the larger end of “normal” and was born weighing 8 lbs. 4 oz. and was 21 inches long but his lungs were a bit underdeveloped. Henry was immediately admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Cox South. We are incredibly grateful for the excellent, thorough, and extensive care that he received while in the NICU. While we knew Henry was where he needed to be for exceptional care, we had no idea how long it would take for his lungs to mature enough to allow him to breath on his own. The Ronald McDonald House was recommended to us by many medical staff at the hospital. We were met with compassion and kindness right at the door. The Ronald McDonald House not only provided us with a room, meals, and other amenities, but with a home full of support. We were able to truly take respite between running back and forth to the hospital every few hours and caring for our 2-year-old daughter, Caroline. Although our personal stay was short, we were able to see beyond our own situation at the many lives touched and families greatly impacted by the Ronald McDonald House. We are so grateful for Henry’s swift recovery and all the blessings our gracious Lord has provided!
