SCHOOL NEWS Harvest Festival 2017 I’m writing about the Harvest gifts that you so generously provide. You’ll know that over the last few years we have increasingly distributed these gifts via the Watford Foodbank and the South West Herts Refugee Partnership, though we have retained some distribution to individuals known to us. Also last year Year 6 girls visited four Care Homes in the locality to distribute some of the goods you provided. This year we will send everything to the Foodbank and the Partnership. This is for two reasons. One is that we know the goods will be well used there and go to families that really need this support. The other is that sending pupils out to individuals and Care Homes is an increasingly tricky exercise given the requirements of Safeguarding and our wish to be sure our girls are safe, and not put in inappropriate situations. What we need for Harvest is lots of goods packed if possible in boxes for ease of transport. We need the following sorts of items: tinned meat and fish; tinned fruit and vegetables; tinned sponge puddings, rice pudding and other puddings (including custard); long life milk; pasta sauce; rice and pasta; squash and long life fruit juice; tea and coffee; cereals and sugar; toiletries including soap, shampoo, shower gel, loo paper; and some treats – the sort of things you like to give your children. Your support and generosity with this approach will be much appreciated - the Chapel is open for Harvest goods any time from now on, but especially in week beginning 2nd October and will be sent to the Foodbank later that week. Focus Day Update Your daughters should now have their activities assigned for the day thanks to CHQ. Parents and students can check these via CHQ. If your daughter is assigned to any of the external trips i.e. Phasels Wood, The Chess Walk, London Zoo, Bletchley Park, the Canal walk or the Stables, we will require your consent which will come via an email from CHQ. Please look out for this as we will require this back ASAP and no later than Tuesday 5.00pm please. Remember to check and confirm medical information is correct. If a cost is involved this will be via Parent Pay. Thank you and here's to a great Focus Day. Mrs Bloomfield-Proud, Senior Teacher, Community
