SCHOOL NEWS Chess Valley Walk on Focus Day We began by meeting at the Science Foyer at 8.40am. We were then sorted into groups and we were off and away! We all walked down to Rickmansworth Station and caught the train down to Chalfont to start our Chess Valley walk! Westwood Park was our first location and started our 7 mile walk from there. We had many moans at this point due to the fact the ground was very muddy. Lyv had to get a piggy-back from Millie as she didn’t want to ruin her shoes, but little did she know it was about to get a whole lot muddier. We then carried on our walk through many fields and then came across 3 alpacas and a herd of bulls: what a menagerie! We got a quick picture with the alpacas. Lots of people had got their feed stuck in the mud but luckily Annie came to the rescue! Annie took over the navigation and led us all the way to Chorleywood and past the M25 with the help of Rosie and Lucy. We all got stung by nettles whilst walking down the M25 path and had to stop off for a dock leaf. Thankfully Mrs Beedell was there with her biology skills to identify which were the dock leaves. After passing many more fields and sheep we came across a fish farm with an array of fish ranging from koi carp to piranhas it was so interesting. We then ended up at Loudwater and from there we walked down to Scotsbridge where we had a pit stop and a paddle in the stream. We were so close to school at this point and powered through and ended back at school with a lot of wet feet. It was such a great walk with lots a great views. A big thank you to Mrs Walker, Mrs Beedell, Miss Cook and Miss Warr! Annie R and Lucy A, 10M
