Watford vs Newcastle Football Match On Saturday the 23rd January we, a group of four Sixth Formers, went to the Watford vs Newcastle football match at Watford’s Vicarage Road Stadium. Watford won 2-1 as they played an exciting but sometimes nail biting game with all the goals being scored in the second half. As Scarlett has been a season ticket holder since the age of four she has been linked to the club for many years. Not only this, but her dad is currently the main club sponsor which means she can get tickets and share the experience with her friends. Therefore, we first timers had a great experience watching football live and have now become lifelong fans! The main highlight of the day was definitely the atmosphere and getting all of our A level stress out on the ref! Also, we joined in singing the songs and holding our breath at the anticipation of goals being scored. It was great feeling the energy of the crowd and as we were sitting in the Sir Elton John stand, we had a clear view of the players as they left the tunnel to start the match. The great family community of Watford FC made us feel welcome and become keen supporters of not only the players, but also of the mascot Harry the Hornet, who entertained us thoroughly throughout the match and even started taking selfies with the fans! We saw great skill demonstrated by the whole team but especially from Odion Ighalo, Watford’s top goal scorer, who scored first, creating a surge of excitement within the crowd. We really enjoyed the match and have already planned to watch our next live game and hope to get Miss Lord wearing a Watford FC shirt as her new uniform! The picture is of us on our triumphant return to RMS dressed in a variety of club kit. It was a great day out and we will continue to have Watford in our hearts now and for long after our time at RMS. By Scarlett, Louise, Bhavini and Elfreda (Zetland boarders).
