SIXTH FORM WEEKLY BULLETIN FRIDAY 23RD JUNE 2017 ISSUE 44

Message from Mrs Freeman The word of the day is HOT. As such, a savvy group of Year 12 girls decided Hind House garden needed a paddling pool, so I had great fun watching them enjoying the water as much as the school ducklings! UCAS has made a good start this week and I know many girls are already there with their first draft of a personal statement - what an organised bunch you are! I would like to re-iterate my comments from Monday night; my door and your tutors' doors are always open if you want to discuss any aspect of UCAS over the next few months. It is an exciting time of your lives and I know that university was one of my favourite times. RMS has provided you all with great confidence and opportunities; now is the time to reflect on what you have done, and what you have achieved both academically and personally - and then sell this in your personal statement. Remember the first draft is due Monday 3rd July! Have a good weekend everyone!

Message from Miriam, Hind House PR University options have begun to get underway and the main item on this week’s agenda was to visit the University of Bedfordshire for a UCAS Convention. A staggering number of universities were represented to suit any and all preferences and degree courses – there truly was something for everyone. On the one hand, this was rather reassuring; on the other, extremely daunting! In the days and weeks to come, a whole host of personal statements will be drafted before beginning to be fine-tuned and subject-broadening books and articles will be whipped off the library shelves as we aim to express an undying passion for our chosen areas of interest. We are extremely fortunate to have such a broad range of opportunities and potential paths to follow. We might choose to go to straight to university, go on a gap year, take up an apprenticeship or seek a direct route into employment. Whatever we choose, it’s only just the beginning of our successful careers and the tip of the iceberg of what we are able to achieve.

Next Week in Hind House Monday Chapel Tuesday and Wednesday - UCAS Thursday - House Assembly Friday - No Assembly, UCAS Common Room Duty 6G1
