SCHOOL NEWS CATERING UPDATE We have launched new menus for the Trinity term. These follow valuable feedback last term from our boarding community via a Catering survey and a series of tasting evenings which have helped to inform our menus. The menus are available for you to view on the Parent Portal, together with our Dietary Policy. Following the completion of our first 3 week cycle of menus, further feedback is being sought from all pupils next week via a short survey. We will continue to update you via future bulletins and the Parent Portal. We are also working with a dietician to ensure our menus and break-time snacks deliver the best possible nutrition for pupils. This too will be a gradual process, involving pupils so that they help us to make these changes and understand the reasons for them.

RMS Policy on Nuts Feedback indicates that there is a little confusion regarding our Policy regarding nuts so we would like to clarify this. Due to increasing numbers of pupils with nut allergies, for whom the impact can be life-threatening, we have taken the decision to remove the service of nuts from all menus and break items with immediate effect. Pupil safety is our primary concern with this decision. Please be aware that, whilst we will not be serving any items which contain nuts, as with any large catering organisation we are unable to categorically guarantee a nut-free environment insofar as we source products from a large range of suppliers who may produce nuts or nut-based products within their manufacturing processes. For any catering queries or concerns, please contact Keith Wattley, Catering Manager who will be pleased to discuss these with you: kwattley@royalmasonic.herts.sch.uk Thank you Jane Horsnell, Domestic Bursar

RMS SPORT Tennis Under 14 Team RMS v Parmiters School, District Tournament This was the first match of the season for our District team . Two pairs competed against Parmiters at home winning 3-1 sets and 21-10 games. This was a great result and fantastic start to the new tennis season.

RMS v North London Collegiate School—Friendly In this “friendly” match, the students played timed matches and tried to see which pair could score the most points against their opponents. Unfortunately, NLCS proved to be tough competition and RMS lost overall against them. However, this was a great friendly set of matches and good experience for the girls.

RMS v Berkhamsted— Team Tennis This was the first of only two Team Tennis fixtures this year for the Under 14 girls but what a great win against Berkhamsted! Each person plays in one double's match and then a single each against their opposite rated player. RMS only lost one match out of 6 and the girls won 10-2 overall. It was lovely to have such good weather and great support from parents - both combined to help the girls to secure their first win in the Team Tennis match. Next match against Watford coming soon!

RMS v Haberdashers, District Tournament This was the second District Tennis match, and was played at home against Haberdashers. All the girls played really well, serving and volleying into the spaces to score good points. Unfortunately, RMS just lost by 5 games.

SUMMER HOLIDAY ACTIVITY BLAG Youth Theatre Summer School As we head towards the Summer I am sure some parents will be keen to find a fun and creative activity for their children. At Blag we offer a full two week performing arts program that culminates in a production at the Elgiva Theatre. Over the last 20 years we have had lots of RMS girls including my own daughter (an ex-RMS pupil) take part and experience what it's like to be part of a musical production. This year we will be fusing together two story lines, 'School of Rock and Fame' the show will be tailor written and offer great parts for all. If you are looking for more than just a musical theatre skills workshop and would like to find out what a Blag Project entails please email me at lynn@dramaclasses.biz and I will be pleased to answer any questions you may have. We take children from 7 years to 17 years and we start on July 23rd. We have been producing children's summer schools for 20 years and were one of the first in Rickmansworth. Being part of our summer school teaches a lot more than just performing arts, it teaches confidence, team spirit, quick thinking, social skills and enhances short term memory. We would love to hear from you so please feel free to get in touch. 01923 772320 or 07730 572714 Testimonial from RMS parents.... “I highly recommend Blag summer project. It’s been the highlight of all my girls’ summer hols for the last 10 years. Recommend it if they are interested in dance singing or drama or would just like to make a really nice bunch of friends and have a great laugh in the hols”. Abbey “Blag is a unique experience; it’s huge fun and a really encouraging environment where the kids learn what they’re capable of and how to push themselves to achieve more. Although they never feel pressured or regimented, the kids respect Ricky and Lynn’s skills and deep experience and respond by pulling together to put on an amazing show or performance. Blag’s far more than a Saturday class - it soon becomes a key part of their life, along with the lifelong friends from all different backgrounds and talents that they make there” Diane
