Branch Circular No 604
December 2010 Merry Christmas to all our Shipmate Branch Secretaries, I hope you enjoy this edition of the Circular and give it a wide circulation to branch members. You will have heard about, or seen in the Chairman’s Dit, the ‘2011 year of recruiting’ initiative, and that we have had a project running to get this underway. As part of this we have also been taking a look at our image and what we have on offer. I am writing this to give you a quick overview of what’s happened so far and what is to come. Some of you will have met our creative agency, MindWorks Marketing, who is helping with this project. They have reviewed the core values and what we stand for; spoken to RN personnel (current and leavers) to see what engages and motivates them to join a membership organisation, and presented their findings and ideas at three Area meetings. A big thank you to those members who have provided enthusiastic feedback on the proposals so far. As an outcome, a refreshed RNA logo and revised explanatory text about our values of Unity, Loyalty, Patriotism, and Comradeship have been developed. These were put forward with two proposed recruitment campaigns to National Council and all the work has been given the goahead. We’re very excited as we take this project into the New Year, and we shall be officially launching our new brand identity and campaigns at the National Conference in June. There is plenty more work to be done on what was presented before we can show exactly what is proposed so I hope to update you further and show where we have got to in the January circular. Just a reminder to get your e-mail address to us as soon as you can, so we can send you the Circular electronically (to Nigel please). As soon as it is ready it is published on the RNA website http://www.royal-naval-association.co.uk/ , so no need to wait for a hard copy. A new form for elections to the standing orders committee is enclosed this month. There is also an important note about how to obtain a PJM medal for those still waiting or looking.
In this cold weather there is also information about grants to stay warm, perhaps worth passing to shipmates who cannot turn up in this snowy weather.
