The answer is pretty simple, I’ve always applied it to my own life in times of uncertainty. Life on the road delivers both the answers and quite possibly the next set of questions. A little room to breathe and some space for your soul to wander in Alaska, or in the backyard is exactly what we all need right now to provide some perspective. Unalaska island is the rustic home base for Aleutian exploration, where ships disappear into the fog, uncertain of safe passage or return. Dutch Harbor is a tough town where hard work is the currency and salty pubs are the day-ender. It launched the Revivalists west towards uncrowded waves, dungeness crab, and the pull of the unknown.

After Captain Jimmer took us foraging for Salmon and Dungeness Crab, he prepared for us one of his favorite meals: boiled crab and vodka martinis. Simple, elegant, fresh and fulfilling.

Dungeness Crab If you’re lucky to get a fresh batch from Unalaska Bay or anywhere along the Bering Sea, then the recipe is simple.

- Drop 4 Dungeness Crabs in a boiling pot - Simmer for 20 minutes - Strain and place in a hot wok - Add 2 tablespoons of oil - 1 Cup each of garlic and ginger - Remove from heat; sprinkle cilantro and serve

The natural elements of this expedition were harsh, to put it mildly. The crew camped on windswept beaches, navigated the open ocean on a small crab trawler, drove through tundra muck for hours on ATVs, and even threw themselves (willingly) into snowstorms. It was essential for Roark to develop durable, comfortable, functional clothing that matched the brutal environment.
