Hello, Chattahoochee Hills! Signing in to wish everyone a Happy New Year! I hope that your holidays have been wonderful and full of the love of family and friends! It’s been such a busy year MAYOR TOM REED in Chattahoochee Hills this year, so I have personally appreciated this chance to break away from all of it and spend that quality time with family (and mostly offline; what a blessing that has been!). And that busyness? We have done so much in Chattahoochee Hills in the past year—so much good work. Here’s a short (and surely incomplete) list. We… • worked closely with Greystone to get Broadband fiber into the city – those wires are now in place in many areas, and many residents will have service in 2024. • established a non-exclusive franchise partnership with GFL for solid waste services, which should help more rural residents get acceptable trash collection services. • had a Ribbon Cutting ceremony for our new Community Art Center, and also a Ribbon Cutting for our first Historic Marker. • hosted three senior luncheons, Movie Night in the Park, a wonderful Fall Festival, and our Christmas Tree Lighting Community via our Outreach Team, led by Councilperson Ruby Foster. • partnered with the Bear Creek Nature Center on several events (Residents’ Day, Bat Fest, and Pollinator Day). • partnered with the Red Cross for 4 blood drives. • supported Rico Ball Field Tee Ball season. • continued our partnership with CoCo’s Cupboard to rescue stray dogs in the city. • hosted and participated in the Ray Day event. • completed our Wayfinding design program and installed the first set of a series of wayfinding signage all around town. • became a ‘Bee City USA’ city. • hosted a groundbreaking ceremony with the Trust for Public Land to celebrate the restroom facilities they are building for us at the new RiverLands Park (and at Campbellton Park) • installed a new park ranger station in Cochran Mill Park. • approved a Resolution for another RTP Trail Grant. • partnered with Chattahoochee Riverkeepers for several litter pick-ups. • fired up the new cell tower in Cochran Mill Park, improving safety in the park and allowing us to add more resident parking. • purchased a brand-new fire truck, a new patrol vehicle, and a new truck for public works. 2

• awarded a contract for the new public works building. • awarded a contract for TSPLOST topcoat paving for several sections of road, as well as full-depth reclamation on much of Rico Road, and worked with GDOT to begin the Garretts Ferry bridge replacement. • installed new AV system in Council Chambers. • helped Community Brickworks with facility improvements. • launched a new web site and procured a new financial software system. • Stood up a Convention and Visitor’s Bureau (CHCVB) and a Destination Marketing Organization (CHDMO) to better leverage our Hotel/Motel taxes in a legally complaint way. • submitted our FY 2024 Budget to GFOA to receive yet another Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. • adopted the updated TDR Ordinance, which strengthens our program to pay rural landowners as development occurs in the city. • worked with Fulton County to get sewer access to large developments to protect our rural environment. • developed the Rico Crossroads Concept Plan. • held an informative Impact Fee Workshop for City Council. • approved Kane Studio, Arosa Grove, and Creative Land, LLC mixed use hamlets – which together will permanently preserve well over 1400 acres in Chattahoochee Hills and add 80+ acres to the Riverlands Park when built. • hired an Economic Development Director. • and so much more.

It goes without saying that none of this could have happened without the hard work of our amazing staff, a supportive City Council, an incredible group of volunteers, and the rest of our extended team. I’ve often said we get so much done with so few people. And that’s important; no one has been able to preserve rural land and community character like we are doing. No one provides our level of service—and our quality of service—with a team this small. We’ve worked smart, and that makes it easy to be lucky; it’s this team that’s made it happen. Thank you for your support, too. While it’s sometimes not easy to build consensus, we have huge community support, which sustains us in a way that makes me constantly grateful. We’re doing good things in Chattahoochee Hills, and I’m feeling recharged and am looking forward to all the good work of the coming year. Best wishes to you and your family for a Happy New Year from Chattahoochee Hills, and from Mayor Tom Reed and the Reed family!

U.S. Soccer Selects Site in Fayette County for Future Home of National Training Center Coca-Cola will be a founding partner of the National Training Center and support U.S. Socer's goals of inspiring future generations and growing the game across Georgia and the entire country; key site selection criteria included proximity and accessibility to a major international airport, optimal climate for yearround use, viable site infrastructure, and support from a diverse, growing community with opportunity to drive economic impact locally. U.S. Soccer announced today that the site of the new National Training Center will be located in Fayette County, Georgia, as part of another step in the Federation’s ambitious strategic plan to grow soccer across the country. The location of the National Training Center, which will directly impact each of U.S. Soccer’s five strategic pillars, was made following a robust and competitive process after looking at nine different locations within the wider Metro Atlanta area. The exact location of the National Training Center will be in Trilith in Fayette County and cover more than 200 acres of land. The location became the clear choice by meeting key criteria that included accessibility and proximity to Atlanta’s major international airport as well as downtown, optimal climate for year-round programming, the ability to drive economic impact locally, and the opportunity to be part of a diverse, growing community. “We’re proud to be building a home that will support

the future of soccer in America,” said U.S. Soccer President Cindy Parlow Cone. “The National Training Center will help player development at the highest level and serve as a central destination to support and inspire players across the country as well as a hub of knowledge and resources for all our member organizations. Beyond its national importance, the National Training Center will be an institution firmly rooted in its community. U.S. Soccer will work with local officials and corporate partners on the ground to engage the vibrant communities in Fayette County and the Metro Atlanta area to build new career pathways in sports, connect with fans, and grow the soccer community.” The Coca-Cola Company, a Founding Partner of the National Training Center, played an important role in U.S. Soccer’s decision to bring the National Training Center to the company’s corporate hometown. “Metro Atlanta is a vibrant and culturally diverse community that Coca-Cola has proudly called home for over a century,” said Bea Perez, SVP and Chief Communications, Sustainability, and Strategic Partnerships Officer, The Coca-Cola Company and Chair, Coca-Cola Foundation. “Our investment in the National Training Center exemplifies our company’s commitment to building a legacy for future generations and growing the sport.” In July, Coca-Cola and U.S. Soccer entered a transformative, long-term partnership agreement that supports the growth of the game at every level of the U.S. soccer ecosystem.

OUR COMMUNITY Together, Coca-Cola and U.S. Soccer are committed to building legacy events that shine a light on domestic talent and increase opportunities for all U.S. Youth National Teams and Extended National Teams, growing the sport and increasing participation in soccer in all its forms. The National Training Center’s location provides proximity to the Town at Trilith, a master-planned residential and mixed-use community with a school, restaurants, retail, and office space. The Town at Trilith is adjacent to Trilith Studios, a major film and television production studio in Fayette County, which has brought the world’s attention to this south-metro Atlanta community and sparked tremendous investment in the local area. Trilith Studios is home to blockbuster films like “Avengers: Endgame” and “WandaVision.” Established in 2014, Trilith Studios is one of the largest production facilities in Georgia and one of the largest purpose-built studios in North America. The location is also in close proximity to the world’s most-traveled airport with daily flights to more than 150 domestic and 70 international destinations. Hartsfield-Jackson Airport is located within a two-hour flight of 80% of the U.S. population, making it an appealing and easy-to-access location for players, referees, coaches, U.S. Soccer members, and the entire soccer community across the country. The facility will serve as headquarters for the U.S. Soccer Federation, creating a central hub for the entire soccer community, including coaches and referees, to access best-in-class training, technology, and infrastructure to promote successful and sustainable playing environments throughout the country. For players, the National Training Center will provide the best environment, guaranteeing uninterrupted access to elite infrastructure for training, development, recovery and performance analysis – cultivating expertise and excellence in the sport on an international level. The commitment to build a National Training Center was made possible by a $50 million contribution from iconic businessman and philanthropist Arthur M. Blank, The Home Depot co-founder and Atlanta United owner. Mr. Blank has a longstanding history of giving back to and uplifting local communities; since 1995, the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation has granted more than $1 billion to various grantees. Initial design plans for the National Training Center 4

include projections for over a dozen soccer fields and over 100,000 sq. ft. of indoor courts for all 27 of U.S. Soccer National Teams, including Senior Women’s and Men’s, Youth and Extended National Teams. The National Training Center will also include more than 200,000 sq. ft. of high-performance facilities, locker rooms, meeting rooms, and headquarters space for all U.S. Soccer employees. While the National Training Center will be utilized by all 27 of U.S. Soccer’s National Teams, part of Blank’s contribution will specifically go towards the construction of facilities for U.S. Soccer’s nine Extended National Teams (ENTs), particularly in support of the Cerebral Palsy (CP), Deaf, and Power Soccer National Teams, including thoughtful design of locker rooms and training facilities to maximize accessibility for players. The facility will include full ADA accessibility for visitors and players not only within the building but also throughout the training ground. In addition, sustainability will be at the forefront of the design process with the project team pursuing LEED certification of the National Training Center by incorporating energy-efficient systems, water reclamation, and protection of surrounding natural habitats. The National Training Center will create an estimated 400+ new jobs and represents an investment valued at more than $200 million. In alignment with U.S. Soccer's

OUR COMMUNITY vision to promote diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging and eliminate barriers both on and off the field, the Federation is committed to working with minority or women owned businesses. “After announcing in September that U.S. Soccer was coming to Georgia, it’s exciting to officially welcome them to their new home in Fayette County,” said Governor Brian Kemp. “U.S. Soccer joins a long and proud tradition of sports in the Peach State, including our fast-growing soccer fanbase. This project will solidify Georgia's position at the forefront of this increasingly popular sport, from the success of our own Atlanta United team to the FIFA World Cup 2026 events in a few short years.” U.S. Soccer CEO and Secretary General JT Batson led the search for the site with counsel from Deloitte, which helped narrow the location to the Atlanta Metro area, while Vice Chairman of AMBSE Steve Cannon was instrumental in helping make connections within Atlanta. U.S. Soccer then worked closely with key partners, stakeholders, and officials across the Atlanta community and State of Georgia to gather feedback on possible locations before narrowing in on Trilith in Fayetteville, which is one of the most exciting and growing areas in the Atlanta Metro area. “With major tournaments coming to our shores, the investments by our professional leagues, and growth of our membership, this is a once-in-a-generation moment for soccer in the United States,” said Batson. “Fayetteville and the broader Atlanta region come not only with a passion for soccer but also with a distinctive vibrancy that make it perfectly suited to connect with and inspire current and future athletes of all backgrounds, increasing participation in the sport and further growing the game at this critical moment. The state-of-the-art facility will allow players, coaches, referees, and our broader membership across all forms of the sport to come together and work collaboratively to grow the game.” Leaders from U.S. Soccer, Coca-Cola, Fayette County, AMBSE, Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, Trilith, and Bay Point, as well as local, state, and national officials gathered for a celebration event on Dec. 13 at the Town Stage at Trilith to underscore the importance of the NTC to the wider Georgia community. Chattahoochee Riverkeeper is cautiously optimistic about the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint Agreement recently announced by the Governors of Alabama and Georgia and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Chattahoochee Riverkeeper is optimistic because the proposal establishes clear expectations the two states have agreed upon after decades of conflict over how to share water. Since the 1990s, one of the initial strategies to resolve the “water wars” was an agreement on how much water was enough to sustain the states’ and Chattahoochee River’s future. This agreement does just that. Chattahoochee Riverkeeper is cautious because we are still learning about the details of the agreement. We have not evaluated the full implications or possible impacts of the proposed “flow objectives” on Columbus (GA), Columbia (AL), and other parts of the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River Basin. Additionally, we want to ensure any changes to the Corps’ Water Control Manual do not result in changes to existing flow requirements, including a minimum flow requirement of 750 cubic feet per second (cfs) at Peachtree Creek. Chattahoochee Riverkeeper has historically advocated for a more protective minimum flow requirement at this location to ensure water quality standards are met downstream. Chattahoochee Riverkeeper looks forward to actively engaging in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ public and environmental review of the proposed agreement’s flow objectives. We will work to ensure the river and its communities continue to have sustainable access to clean and plentiful water into a future shaped by the impacts of climate change. OUR COMMUNITY The Maker + Baker of I Dough deClare By Clare

I'm a 30-something-year-old, transplant to Georgia and a graduate of Culinary School with a specialty in Pastry Arts. After being a classically trained pastry chef who worked in various bakeries, I've turned home baker. I run this one-woman, custom cookie and cake business and making beautifully handcrafted, but also delicious, cookies for your special events is what I am most passionate about. Cakes used to be my one love, but during the pandemic I decided I would give sugar cookies a go with the ultimate goal of being that super cool mom for birthdays one day. After I took an order for a friend and totally bombed, I made it my mission to learn all the different aspects of custom cookie making. I quickly fell in love with the process and seeing the end results, and now I love making goodies for all of your events! This business falls under the Georgia Cottage Food Law; however, my little home bakery got a huge makeover October, 2023 and we transformed our basement into my dream commercial kitchen and cookie decorating heaven! I have big dreams of one day opening a storefront and growing my little sweet corner of the world. For now though, I'll enjoy being a new mom and continue baking from my new kitchen! I love getting to be part of so many different celebrations and milestones and am so thankful for my loyal customers! For more infomation and to order, visit: https://www. idoughdeclare.com

Inside Out & Upside Down with Rachel Garceau March 3 – 8, 2024 Mold-made objects can seem almost magical. Depending on preferred outcome, molds can produce objects that either conceal or emulate the evidence of the hand, but in either case the technique often mystifies viewers. Whether your goal is to make sets of utilitarian ware or components for sculpture or installation, you will learn to harness the power of the multiple through mold-making and slip-casting. Beginning with forms students have made or found, we will make plaster molds which we will cast in porcelain. We will experiment with methods of utilizing the mold itself in the application of surface design, and discuss casting other materials such as paper and plaster. Every participant will complete at least one working mold which they can continue to use when they return home. Students will leave with the skills to continue to make molds as well as use them. The workshop will also include an exploration of ways to remain mindful of the body in your studio practice, and how this consciousness can impact your focus and ability to solve problems.

Through demonstration and experimentation, you will: • Learn how to compose compelling images through your viewfinder regardless of subject matter. • Deconstruct photographs from the masters to identify and understand the importance of composition, light, perspective, color, texture, focal point, etc. • Understand how to adjust camera settings, shoot, manage, and share photos made with your iPhone. • Take photo walks to shoot images based on prompts and experiment with a variety of subject matter (portrait, landscape, architecture, still life and candid documentary). • Participate in image critique sessions to consider viewer perspectives and ultimately improve your photographs. • Get step-by-step instruction and tips on how to use a variety of photography apps to enhance your images and stretch your creative boundaries – from simple exposure adjustments to crafting layered abstractions. • Experiment with mobile photography equipment such as lighting and tripods to enhance your shooting experience. Amy Whist Amy Whist is a studio potter and textile maker located in Chattahoochee Hills Georgia. She makes each ceramic piece using a hand-built slab or pinched technique. Each piece shows signs of the maker. Amy likes the wabi-sabi effect, the perfection of imperfection, that these techniques provide. With a neutral pallet and natural sensibility, the glazes are mostly blue, black, and white with an occasional splash of color. These pieces are all made to be functional, (food and dishwasher safe), and to add beauty to any table scape. With the remnants from making plates, bowls, and vases she makes charming ornaments always with the goal of zero waste. Amy’s textiles, including pillows, bags and pincushions, are equally wabisabi. Using a very slow, meditative needle-and-thread process, you might see an American vintage dress combined with an antique Japanese, African, or French textile. All of her materials are sourced through vintage shops and flea markets. Amy’s series of stitched trees are inspired by the trees of Chattahoochee Hills which her husband Martin Whist draws on a blank textile and she stitches. Amy's work can be seen at the Chatt Hills Gallery, 9057 Selborne Lane, Chatt Hills, GA 30268.

City Government Greystone Power Update By Blake Doss

I just wanted to take a moment to update you on the progress we’ve made on our broadband project. Our subsidiary, GreyStone Connect, is still on track to light up its first customers during the first half of the coming year. We have crews throughout our project area (Fulton, Douglas, Carroll, and Paulding counties) working on different phases of the project. The work is still continuing from east to west, so actual fiber construction and some splicing is ongoing in the south Fulton area, while make-ready engineering and make-ready construction is happening in the Douglas and Carroll areas. I wanted you to have this information in case you see any trucks in the area working on or around our electric infrastructure, which we’re using as the backbone for our fiber buildout. Make-ready engineering and makeready construction means our contract crews are just checking to ensure our poles and other infrastructure is prepared to handle our fiber lines. Soon I’ll be reaching back out in person to show you finalized build maps, pricing, and other information that we hope you will find useful for your constituents. I know many of you and your constituents have been waiting a long time

for reliable and fast speeds, and we’re glad we’re able to fill that gap for our members. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at my mobile number below. In the meantime, check out our website landing page at https://greystoneconnect.com/ for more information on residential and commercial pricing and our speed tiers. As we get closer to signing up our first customers in your area, I’ll also contact you with more subscriber process information so that we can help you or any constituents that may have questions about the sign-up timeline and/or process.

FTTH CONSTRUCTION PHASES

*

Building a world-class fiber-to-the-home network is a complex endeavor, dependent on multiple variables – the project size, a co-op’s unique geography, weather, the amount of underground and overhead electric infrastructure and more. The project begins with network design – discovering the optimum fiber path along existing infrastructure. This early design maps the fiber route along the entire electric grid, from each substation to the poles and lines that will deliver fiber to individual homes and businesses. This important phase sets the stage for a smoother, faster build, prevents missteps in the long run, and reduces costs to customers, your members. The project unfolds on a rolling basis, over five general phases for each designated construction zone.

22

MAKE READY

CONSTRUCTION

Make-ready crews evaluate and possibly change out poles to prepare our infrastructure to accommodate the fiber build.

Fiber crews will begin the process of adding fiber-optic cable to pole lines and underground areas throughout the community.

SPLICING

The fiber cables and taps are spliced. Splice points are protected in enclosures and secured to power poles (aerial build) or in pedestals (underground build).

SERVICE DROP

INSTALLATION

Crews install drop fiber from the nearest tap enclosure to a network interface device (NID) located on the home or business.

Fiber is installed from the NID to an ONT (optical network terminal) inside the home or office, where it’s connected to a Wi-Fi router, tested and determined ready to connect to broadband.

*The above timeline is for illustrative purposes only; it reflects a general progression of a project’s construction phases once the project has reached the make-ready stage. GreyStone has not yet reached the make-ready stage of its project.

City Government WELCOME CHRIS MONTESINOS New Economic Development Director of Chattahoochee Hills

By Robbie Rokovitz, City Manager Please join me in welcoming Chris Montesinos, our new Chattahoochee Hills Economic Development Director. Chris has more than 25 years of experience in public administration, community planning, and economic development. His education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Urban Studies majoring in Community Planning and Economic Development from Georgia State University, a graduate degree in Local Government Management (LGM) from the University of Georgia, and accreditations from the American Association of Certified Planners (AICP), and the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO). The Economic Development Director was approved by the Mayor and Council earlier this year. Unlike most other municipalities that have a similar position, ours comes with more unique challenges. Since our city places priority on preservation, the Director must champion both the economic development goals of hamlets and villages, while also supporting strategies for protecting and enhancing our rural areas. When I met Chris, I was immediately impressed with his professional demeanor and enthusiasm. Over the last year, I have gained a better understanding of his background in community development and planning, his passion for historic preservation, and his successful work in acquiring more than $55 million in grants throughout his career. Because I knew he would be a great fit for our city, I recruited him to be on our team. Chris’s primary responsibilities will include: business attraction and retention, site selection and development for potential businesses, business assistance and support, marketing and promotion, community outreach, data analysis and reporting, grant and funding opportunities, and advocating for policies and actions that promote economic growth and attract investment to Chattahoochee Hills. Introducing Chris Montesinos

By Laurie Searle, Chatt Hills News Contributor Chris was born in Decatur, Georgia, the county seat of

DeKalb County, and part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. As a teenager, he developed a passion for historic preservation and entered college with the intent of studying art history. However, while self-funding his education, he learned it would take more than passion to pay the bills. While considering options, he decided on the Urban Studies program. It included the Chris Montesinos, Economic Developdisciplines of community ment Director, City of Chattahoochee Hills planning and economic development, addressing a broad array of issues such as land use, social policy, historic preservation, housing, environmental protection, and urban design. He saw this program as a way to feed his passion for historic preservation, broaden his horizons, and prepare him for multiple career options in the public or private sector. After some interesting internships while in college, Chris began his professional career at the Decatur/DeKalb Housing Authority as an administrative analyst. As part of his duties, he prepared detailed studies on social and demographic issues affecting the county, city, and the Housing Authority to determine focus of new initiatives; assisted with site selection for affordable housing developments based on land availability and appropriate zoning, and supported administrative functions including website development and grant applications. Two years later, Chris accepted his first municipal position as the Community Development Director for the city of Chamblee. From that point on, his career steadily progressed with high-level positions in housing, community development and planning, marketing and grant writing. When Chatt Hills City Manager Robbie Rokovitz posted the position for Economic Development Director earlier this year, Chris saw it as an opportunity to combine his skills and his passion for historic preservation with helping our city achieve its vision. At the December 5th city council meeting, Chris shared his goals for his new job.

City Government New Year's Resolutions It’s a new year, and most like to start out with a resolution or two to improve upon themselves in the coming year.. Many of us set out to embark on a fitness journey to lose weight, get in shape, eat healthier, cut calories, drink more water, and get more sleep. All of these are great things to do. But research has shown that it takes approximately 66 days to form a habit. So before joining a gym or buying a subscription to a meal-prep program, I would recommend setting yourself up for success as opposed to failure. That is, make realistic and achievable goals and take reasonable steps to accomplish those goals. I am not a nutritionist or personal trainer; however, over the years, I have discovered some simple things that help me stay on track with my fitness goals with the primary goal of enhancing my mobility so that I will be in a better place to enjoy life as I age. Doctors like to tell us that the way to improve our health is to eat less and move more. I can attest that is better than nothing. But that is a myopic and mediocre way to look at improving one’s health. We only have one body. So, settling for mediocre will only net mediocre results. Why not take that doctor’s recommendation a step farther and eat healthier, not less and move faster with a purpose. Did you know that we should be consuming a gram of protein for each pound of weight? That means if one weighs 200 pounds, he or she should be consuming 200 grams of protein per day. Protein works to reduce appetite and hunger levels, increases muscle mass and strength, boosts metabolism, increases fat burning, lowers blood pressure, and helps maintain weigh loss. The worst thing we can do to get healthier is to starve our bodies. It is simply not sustainable. What is sustainable is creating and maintaining good habits with the latter being the most challenging. Establishing good fitness habits is essential for maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. Here are some tips to help you create and maintain effective fitness habits: 1. Set Clear Goals: Define specific and realistic fitness goals. Whether it is weight loss, muscle gain, or improved endurance, having clear objectives will keep you motivated. 2. Start Small: Begin with manageable workouts to avoid burn out or 26

injury. The increase in intensity and duration should be gradual. Don’t equate soreness with pain or injury. It’s natural to be sore. 3. Create a Routine: Establish a consistent schedule. Aim for 3 to 5 days a week. Pick a time that works best for you. I prefer early morning while others prefer evenings. 4. Mix It Up: To prevent boredom, vary your workouts that target different muscle groups. Include cardiovascular, strength, and flexibility exercises. 5. Find Activities You Enjoy: If you enjoy an activity, you are more likely to stick with it. If you hate doing it, you will find reasons to quit. 6. Prioritize Strength Training: Resistance and strength training should be a big part of your routine. Building muscle not only improves your metabolism but also enhances overall functional fitness. 7. Listen to Your Body: Pay attention to how your body feels. Give yourself time to rest and recover. I speak from experience when I say pushing too hard can lead to injuries. 8. Stay Hydrated and Eat Well: Proper nutrition is crucial for supporting your fitness goals. Stay hydrated and consume a balanced diet with a mix of proteins, carbohydrates, and healthy fats. 9. Get Enough Sleep: We should all get 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night. Sleep is vital for recovery, muscle repair, and overall wellbeing. 10. Track Your Progress: If you don’t have a fitness watch, you can keep a journal to track your progress. This is a great way to keep up with your progression and note personal records (PRs) when achieved. 11. Find a Workout Buddy: Exercising with a friend can make workout more enjoyable and provide mutual motivation and accountability. I work out harder at the gym with my friends than I do In my home gym alone.

CHATT HILLS NEWS - JANUARY 2024 - SUBSCRIBE TO CHATT HILLS NEWS

12. Incorporate Mind-Body Practices: Include activities like yoga or meditation to improve flexibility, reduce stress, and enhance your overall well-being. 13. Stay off the Scales: If your goal is weight loss, do not step on the scale more than once a week. It can be discouraging to look down and see a bigger number which may be due to the increase in muscle. Judge your success by how your clothes fit better and how much more energy you have from working out. 14. Stay Positive: Focus on the positive changes you experience, both physically and mentally. Stay optimistic, and don't be too hard on yourself if you miss a workout or face challenges. 15. Celebrate Milestones: Reward yourself when you reach specific milestones. This could be treating yourself to something you enjoy like buying a new outfit because your clothes fit better or setting new, exciting fitness goals. You may be reading this and asking why a city manager is writing an article in a city newsletter about health and fitness. It is because I know you, the reader, have family, friends, and loved ones who want you to be around for as long as possible. Moreover, I want to have a healthy workforce for Chattahoochee Hills to provide reliable services to our citizens. The delivery of high-quality services requires a strong, thriving workforce. Employers have a critical role to play in strengthening the workforce by helping to improve health and wellbeing. Remember, forming habits takes time and consistency. Be patient with yourself, stay committed, and adjust your routine as needed. Over time, these habits will become a natural part of your lifestyle.

Community members gathered for the annual Chatt Hills Christmas tree lighting. If you are watching City Council Meetings on zoom, City Manager, Robbie Rokovitz, and Public Works/ Parks Director, Darold Wendlandt, are the ones making it happen.

Mayor Tom Reed gave the Key to the City to outgoing Councilpersons Laurie Searle and Troy Bettis, honoring them at their last council meeting of their terms.
