The town of Moab is only five miles from Arches National Park Visitor Center and entry booths and 32 miles from the Island in the Sky Visitor Center at Canyonlands National Park. Moab is well established as the gateway to both Arches & Canyonlands National Parks. It’s also a mecca for outdoor and adventure activity enthusiasts who flock here to hike, bike, raft, climb and just about anything else you can think of.

Most of Moabs lodging options can be found along Main Street. I chose the Hyatt Place as my base when I visited Arches National Park with my family and it turned out to be an excellent choice. We also found the Best Western Plus hotels to be good for families too. Our rooms at the Best Western Plus and Hyatt Place hotels had two queen beds and a sofa bed so a couple plus two children or teenagers can all be comfortably accommodated. A fridge and microwave also helped keep costs down as we could store and prepare basic meals in the room.

Other big name chains are also represented in Moab including Element Moab by Marriott, Wingate by Wyndham, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott and Hoodoo Moab, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton. Another noteworthy option is the Radcliffe Moab. This self coined adventure boutique hotel is a welcome departure from the big name chains. Their suite comes with a full kitchenette, separate living area and dining area, a wrap-around balcony and can sleep up to four people. No matter where you choose to stay in Moab, you’ll be no more than a ten minute drive to the Arches National Park Visitor Center and entry booths making it an incredibly convenient base. You can also wake up to Moabs rugged landscape in a safari inspired tent with all your home comforts and the finishing touches of a boutique hotel like luxury linens, hot running water and private bathrooms. Under Canvas are leading the way in traditional safari-inspired tent glamping. Tents can sleep between 2 to 7 people depending on the style and configuration; some with private bathrooms, all with wood burning stoves and communal fire pits with complimentary S’mores. Breakfast, picnic lunches and dinner are also available on site. ULUM (pronounced OOH-LOOM) Moab by Under Canvas is about twelve miles from Moab and about nine miles from Arches National Park Visitor Center and entry booths.
