PROVIDES OUTSTANDING INITIAL TEACHER TRAINING Working with a consortium of over 40 schools in Newham and surrounding boroughs, we specialise in schoolbased primary teacher training, assisting over 50 people every year. We are small enough to offer high levels of individualised support to trainees and partnership schools, but large enough to provide a wealth of opportunities for training and employment in different settings. Trainees receive excellent training in inclusion which promotes high levels of expertise and confidence in working with pupils from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities. We have twice been graded as Outstanding by OFSTED, who described us as providing ‘the best possible training’.

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW SCITTELS PGCE This programme leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the academic award of a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), comprising of 60 M Level credits. The programme is currently validated by Goldsmiths University. Both PGCE programmes have a greater emphasis on the study of theoretical issues. In addition to school based tasks, which are assessed against the Teachers’ Standards (DfE 2012), trainees on the PGCE programme must complete two assignments which are assessed at level 7 (M level).
School Direct PGCE This programme leads to QTS and the academic award of a PGCE, comprising of 60 M Level credits. The programme is currently validated by Goldsmiths University. It has the same emphasis on theory as the SCITTELS PGCE programme and centre based training will focus on this aspect. Trainees on the school direct programmes will complete a greater proportion of their training in school. Trainees will be based in one of the schools in the partnership and will attend centre-based training at Colegrave or another partnership school.
School Direct Salaried Successful completion of this programme leads to the award of QTS. Trainees on this programme are employed as an unqualified teacher by the school in which they are based and learn ‘on the job’. This programme has been designed with high-quality career changers in mind. Trainees will be based in one of the schools in the partnership and will attend centre-based training at Colegrave or another partnership school.
