The Event Problem Statement: Build a manually controlled robot capable of traversing over irregular terrains with deep gaps (crevasses) in between, by bridging them and saving victims stranded at the accident site.

Task:   

Traverse over different terrains. Place the bridging part (Joint) between the terrains. Rescue the victims from the accident site.

The Bot Material Used:       

Standard Metal Chassis Conveyor Wheel Set 200rpm High Torque DC Motors: for wheels A low rpm DC motor: for rotation of the hook mechanism Aluminium Rods 2 aluminium hooks 12V DC Battery

Structure: A custom-made metal chassis is used in the bot to provide strength to the whole structure of the bot. Conveyor wheels are used to overcome problem faced by the bot in traversing different and challenging terrains given in the arena. The electric circuit and the hook mechanism are mounted on the chassis with hook mechanism on the front. The hook mechanism consist of a DC motor which rotates the aluminium rods attached to it.The hook used to lift objects is attached at the other end of the rods.

Mechanism:

The Bot will traverse through the terrain to the joint placed before the crevasse. Once the bot is parked in front of the joint, the motors are made to rotate lowering the hooks in suitable place to grab the joint.

Once the hooks grab the joint, they are lifted by rotating the motor in other direction, thus lifting the joint. The joint can now be placed to bridge the crevasse and successfully cross the gap. All the movements of the bot is controlled by a remote box consisting of DPDT switches and a 12V DC battery for power supply.
