TO THE 2013 CORN HILL ARTS FESTIVAL On July 13th and 14th, the Corn Hill Arts Festival will once again line the historic streets of Rochester’s Corn Hill District. Admission is free, so bring the whole family! Members of the Corn Hill Neighbors Association work year-round to prepare for the Festival, which annually draws over 200,000 visitors. More than 400 artists come to show and sell their artwork at the Festival each year. Unique, handcrafted goods fill the artists’ booths for consumers to browse, giving visitors the ultimate shopping experience. Another great shopping experience happens at the 5th Annual Emerging Artists Expo presented by MINI of Rochester. At the expo, 25 young artists get the opportunity to present at their first juried show. Guests are welcome to shop the artwork from this group of Rochester’s most promising young artists. Past Emerging Artists have gone on to become prominent art figures inside and outside of Rochester. There will be four stages of live music that will showcase both local and national music talent. Headliners include Herb Gross and the Invicta’s, The Mambo Kings, and Todd East. Dick Solberg “The Sun Mountain Fiddler” will be back to the festival this year, and a line-up of Emerging Artists will make their festival debut: Roberts Wesleyan College student Matthew Paris, Crane School of Music student Mikaela Davis, singer/ songwriter Stevie Fleck, Pop Band Mochester, and Indie Rock band Bendix. The popular Beer and Wine Garden will be back this year, where guests can enjoy a beer and sample wines from all over the region. Enjoy the music from the adjacent Gazebo Stage while you relax and enjoy a drink. For beer enthusiasts we will offer a Craft Beer Garden at Eagle and Atkinson Streets! The kids will have a blast at this year’s festival, too. Family-friendly attractions include a zip line, several bounce houses, and the Fairy Houses Tour. The Fairy Houses Tour is an exhibit of 75 whimsical structures inspired by the Fairy Houses Series® of books. Children will have the opportunity to spontaneously build Fairy Houses next to the Fairy Houses Tour. The creativity doesn’t end there! As the title sponsor of the 5th Annual Emerging Artists Expo, MINI of Rochester will have a replica Mini Cooper for visitors to express their own individuality.

45TH ANNUAL CORN HILL ARTS FESTIVAL POSTER The 2013 Corn Hill Arts Festival Commemorative Poster celebrates the past, present, and future of our vibrant neighborhood. Teresa Haag created the piece on a map overlay with oil paints. A beautiful blue sky surrounds a series of juxtaposed buildings in the Corn Hill District. Avery Mall is focused in the foreground, and the Rochester city skyline stands in the background.
Free parking is provided at the Staybridge
The painting’s use of warm colors accentuates the autumn feel, as leaves fall off trees and the grass turns yellow. Haag captures the sense of community and pride that is so prominent in the Corn Hill District.
If you own a private boat, The Corn Hill Landing also offers docking access for boaters.
“Corn Hill represents different things to different people. For me, three things come to mind: historical significance, an urban setting, and an emphasis on community,” said Haag. “This poster illustrates those concepts by highlighting Avery Mall and the gorgeous home in the foreground, the newer homes and residences behind that, and in the background, the iconic city skyline.”
Suites lot at 1000 Genesee Street. Shuttles run hourly on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m., and 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Sunday. A transport bus will be available at the end of each day in case you miss the final boat.
Visit the Corn Hill Arts Festival website INFO page for a detailed map: www.cornhillartsfestival.com
Haag’s artwork and signing will be available on collectible merchandise celebrating the 45th Annual Corn Hill Arts Festival. The Merchandise Booth is located at the Frederick Douglass and Adams Street intersection.

The “make your mark” idea hopes to inspire creativity and respect for creative expression. “MINI of Rochester is excited for the opportunity to sponsor the Emerging Artist Expo,” says Will Trafton, COO of MINI of Rochester. “Supporting young artists is a way to foster the arts in our community.” The Emerging Artists Expo is located off Adams St. adjacent to the Delta Air Lines Main Stage and Food Court.

THE FAIRY HOUSES TOUR For the first time ever, The Fairy Houses Tour is coming to the Corn Hill Arts Festival. Inspired by the Fairy Houses® series of books written by author Tracy Kane, The Fairy Houses Tour is a whimsical display of more than 75 structures made of natural materials and constructed by Rochester area residents. The atmosphere is family-friendly; there will be bounce houses, a zip line, a bubble machine, and live performers strolling the grounds. Tracy will give readings from her books on Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. You might catch some inspiration, and if you do, there are materials to build spontaneous fairy houses. Fairy Houses built for the tour will be awarded prizes in different categories. At the Festival, you can vote for your favorite in our “People’s Choice Award.” Bring the whole family and be part of the magic!
