2 2016 CORN HILL ARTS FESTIVAL GUIDE

WELCOME

TO THE BEAUTIFUL CORN HILL NEIGHBORHOOD The 48th Annual Corn Hill Arts Festival presented by ESL Federal Credit Union is celebrating the arts and culture of Rochester’s historic first residential neighborhood. Admission is free, so bring the whole family! Volunteers from the Corn Hill Neighbors Association work year-round to prepare for the Festival, which annually welcomes over 125,000 visitors. More than 375 juried artists from across the US and Canada will display and sell their artwork. Unique, handcrafted arts & crafts fill the nine streets for visitors to enjoy. You can find that special gift or the perfect piece of art for your home, office or garden at Corn Hill. Do you have an eye for up-and-coming artists? Then don’t miss the 8th Annual Emerging Artists Expo presented by MVP Health Care. The Expo located on Eagle St. features 21 talented, young artists from our region. Music lovers enjoy a weekend of free entertainment that fills the Festival with music from four stages showcasing 26 live performances of both local and national music talent. This year’s “don’t miss” performance at The Valley Cadillac Main Stage is Grammy nominated zydeco superstar C.J. Chenier and The Red Hot Louisiana Band.

The 48th Annual Corn Hill Arts Festival commemorative poster depicts a quaint, historic home in Corn Hill. Its whimsical, cheery characteristics provided the inspiration for poster artist Rachel Cordaro. Rachel is a full-time painter and textile artist from Rochester. The painting features her signature flower motifs framing a quaint Adams Street house. She combines untamed vines, lively colorful poppies and black-eyed Susan’s which surround and enchant the house. Self-taught, Rachel utilizes acrylic paint on canvas and brings the beauty and whimsy of flowers into her creations. Inspired by nature, flowers in particular, she paints from memory and expresses her impressions on canvas and in her work with textiles. Rachel lives in Rochester with her husband Cordell Cordaro, the 2010 Corn Hill Arts Festival poster artist. Her work can be found online at rachelcordaro.com and in area boutiques. Cordaro’s artwork will be available on collectible merchandise celebrating the 48th Annual Corn Hill Arts Festival. Learn more at rachelcordaro.com. The Merchandise Booth is located at the Frederick Douglas and Adams Street intersection.

Ride a bike? Park it at our Bike Corral on Exchange St. & Fitzhugh Place. Arrive by boat? Call the Harbor Master at Corn Hill Landing with a minimum of 48 hours in advance at 585-234-6066 to reserve. Visit cornhillartsfestival.com for details 4 2016 CORN HILL ARTS FESTIVAL GUIDE
