CHARLOTTE SQUARE
MADE ON STATE
Get ready for a whole new level of excitement. Downtown’s latest housing development, Charlotte Square, opens its doors to new residents this month and promises to be a unique city living experience. Anchoring the East End, Charlotte Square promotes a very social, active, and modern lifestyle. A new, modern, luxurious community in the heart of the exciting East End – one of Rochester’s most important and eclectic districts is being transformed to encourage sustainable living and economic growth. It’s committed to being green – Charlotte Square will have rooftop solar panels, and an electric car charging station in the shared garage. Their solar panels are projected to produce up to 50% of the energy the building uses. Imagine each year saving 28 acres of forest or enough gasoline to take 14 cars off the road!
Just opening in High Falls, MADE ON STATE is nearly an entire city block of renovated, interconnected structures designed to provide economically sustainable, usable spaces for creative entrepreneurs to expand their craft. It’s a collective of independent studios doing fine art installation, print making, graphic design, illustration, framing, metal fabrication, painting, and more – in a campus for individual creative businesses. Tenants include Airigami, Blue Toucan Studios, Creativ Framing and Design, MYDARNDEST STUDIO, and more. Plans are already in the works for pop-up holiday sales and workshops, as well as shared projects. From conceptualization and design, to hands-on fabrication and creation, to classes and events – MADE ON STATE is where creative things happen. Check it out at 510 state Street!
ZAGSTER’S BIKE SHARE COMING Want to ride a bike, but don’t have your own? Zagster has you covered. Based in Cambridge, MA, they operate more than 140 unique bikeshare systems nationwide — and come Spring 2017, they’ll be up and running in Rochester. Plans are to station 250 bikes around Rochester to get the program rolling, with additional bike deployments based on demand and usage patterns. The City and Zagster are seeking sponsors who recognize the role a bike share program plays in creating a vibrant city. Unlike other more restrictive systems, Zagster gives users the freedom to ride as long as they want, wherever they want, and you can check bikes out with the touch of a button. So if you’re looking for an affordable, convenient and fun way to get around, join Zagster, and unlock your next adventure!
