ochester, NY has been a cycling hot spot since the 2004 establishment of the Rochester Twilight Criterium, the world-class professional cycling race attracting bicycle racers and spectators from near and far. International attendance quickly rose as professional athletes including Olympians, World and National Champions from Argentina, Australia, Canada, Germany, Italy, Ireland, France, New Zealand, Czechoslovakia, Russia, Serbia, Uruguay, and England came to race here in Rochester, NY against their global competitors. The 2017 Rochester Twilight Criterium is one of only eight US criterium events USA Cycling approved as part of the U.S. National Pro Road Tour, the highest professional level of racing in the USA. This year, the City of Rochester and Full Moon Vista Bike & Sport will present the 2017 Rochester Twilight Criterium on the evening of Saturday, August 19th! New for 2017, Brooks Sports Inc., Medved Running and Walking and Full Moon Vista are excited to welcome the addition of the Rochester Mile! Similar to the criterium in its fast pace, amateur and elite athletes will compete in separate 1-mile races. These running races will be held on the same course that the cyclists use with the highlight of the evening being the Elite Men’s and Women’s races held

between the Professional Men’s and Women’s cycling races. We expect over 25,000 spectators to attend the professional races, attracting families to witness the action in downtown Rochester and add to the incredibly exciting and festive atmosphere ! On top of this new exciting addition we are pleased to announce that FloSports is now partnered with Full Moon Vista Productions as the exclusive broadcasting entity of both the Rochester Twilight Criterium and the Rochester Mile. CRITERIUM RACING EXPLAINED
PROFESSIONAL ANNOUNCERS
Criteriums races are without a doubt uniquely American. Criterium courses themselves are designed on a one mile long city street loop naturally crowd-friendly and wide enough for tightly packed cyclists to zoom by crowds at a safe distance. The lap-by-lap excitement is most comparable to that of NASCAR racing. On two wheels however the athletes’ bike-handling skill combined with their explosive speeds make each turn and straight thoroughly entertaining and nearly mind-blowing.
Frankie Andreu and Richard Fries, two of the most prominent cycling announcers in the world will be back again to dominate their craft and keep the energy/excitement flowing. Joining them for commentary will be special guest and former professional cyclist Leslee Schenk Trzcinski. If you haven’t had the pleasure experiencing these personalities in action then you’re in for a treat! Not only will they seamlessly break-down bicycle racing, they’re sure to keep viewers amped!
WHERE TO WATCH A popular viewing trend happens to be walking the course in reverse direction of the riders. By walking opposite of the racers your constant view is of competitors speeding towards you, effectively allowing viewers to witness every moment of action. Traveling along the course allows you to gain new vantage points and aids in the discovery of prefered spots to stop and view a few laps before moving on to a new location. What’s the most exciting viewing location?! The finish of course! At the finish you can find the source of the electric energy generated by the racers, announcers, music, and densely packed fan section. Most importantly, it’s where the finish sprint takes place for each event and where the victors are determined !

There will be a 1-hour women’s professional cycling race at 6:25 p.m. and a 1-hour and 40-minute men’s pro cycling race at 8:30 p.m. featuring some of the world’s top professional cyclists. Between the men’s and women’s professional cycling races are elite men’s and women’s 1-mile running races with the elite women starting at 7:50 p.m. and elite men at 8:05 p.m. Novel for professional sports, we are proud to announce that the purse for both races is equal for men and women! There is also a 45-minute showcase race starting at 5:30 p.m. before the pro women’s cycling race highlighting junior elite cyclists and men’s and women’s amateur 1-mile running races that take place before the elite 1-mile running races, 7:35 p.m. and 7:36 p.m. respectively.

Full Moon Vista – The Riding Force Behind the Criterium Full Moon Vista was started in 2004. Born from Scott Page’s mission to share the magic of cycling with others, Full Moon Vista is a stand-out in Rochester’s robust bike community. Page wanted to do things differently with his shop and ensure that everyone, cyclists of all types, felt welcomed and treated with exceptional customer service. Page, with his business partner and wife, Kim and a small team of determined supporters, set about bringing Full Moon Vista Bike & Sport to life. Simultaneously, Page was also building Full Moon Vista Productions. His vision was not just limited to opening a bike shop, he also wanted to include world-class professional cycling events. He envisioned a marquis event that would get people excited to ride their bikes.
