Sixth Annual Allman Family Revival Tour, Celebrating Life & Music of Gregg Allman Is On The Road Again! ALLMAN
FAMILY REVIVAL TOUR
PRESENTED BY GIBSON
EMBERS
“We are in the sixth year of saluting my Dad’s music and life for the Allman Family Revival…but it’s reaching beyond that initial sentiment. It’s galvanizing relationships within our generation of musicians. It’s continuing a tradition of feel based music and it’s an honor to put these shows on. Because at the end of the day I feel it’s way more about perpetuating this art form than it is about leaving our mark. Our true mark is simply the continuance….making sure we inspire the next in line to take the stage.”
- Devon AllmanThe Sixth Annual Allman Family Revival, one of the year’s most anticipated Southern Roots/Rock tours celebrating the Life and Music of legendary Allman Brothers Band cofounder Greg Allman and led by Gregg’s son, Devon Allman, kicks off this year’s eighteen-city tour with a performance in the historic home base of the Allman Brothers, Macon, GA, at Macon City Auditorium, 415 First St., Saturday, November 26. Showtime: 8pm. Tickets: $35.-$348. Info: (478) 751-9152 or http:/ /www.maconcentreplex.org/auditorium/. Presented by Gibson Guitars and Flying Embers.
Devon Allman has announced several new artist additions to the 2022 Allman Family Revival including Vaylor Trucks (son of Butch Trucks), Melody Trucks (daughter of Butch Trucks), G. Love (G. Love & Special Sauce), Johnny Stachela (Allman Betts Band) and John Ginty (Allman Betts Band).
Says Allman, “The Allman Family Revival Tour is gearing up for our biggest year yet. We are thrilled to welcome our additional artists including members of The Allman Betts Band, our brother and sister from the historic Trucks family. I am also honored to announce that Gibson will be returning as a sponsor. Gibson is the timeless guitar brand that fuels our art and has for decades. Our newest sponsorship partner is Flying Embers, an exciting, progressive all-natural kombucha company that we are stoked to have on board, helping with this year’s production.”
Five years ago, on December 8, 2017, Devon invited some of his closest musical compadres onto the hallowed stage of The Fillmore in San Francisco to perform a three-hour, multi-set monster of a concert for the sold-out crowd in tribute to Devon’s late father, Gregg. For
Devon, the date was bittersweet; what would’ve been Gregg’s 70th birthday., and in a year when the award-winning musician lost both parents within a few months of each other.
What Devon started in December 2017 as the simple idea of “music as medicine” has since turned into The Allman Family Revival - an epic coast to coast tour that brings a together a happy and healing cosmic experience that celebrates the life, spirit, and indelible musical legacy of Gregg Allman.
This year, the 18-date Revival tour will kick off on November 26 in the historic home base of the Allman Brothers, Macon, GA, and will continue throughout the country, wrapping up on December 17 in San Francisco, CA.
“My favorite part is just the joy of the audience. I can tell they are touched and getting every penny’s worth,” Allman says. “Knowing Dad is looking down saying, ‘Damn, son, all that hot jammin’ for me?!’ I know he’s tickled that we celebrate him. Because none of us has to do this. We all have busy careers. This is a ‘want to’ situation; absolutely, 100% about music and celebration and tribute.”
The Blues Against Youth: Use the blues to chase away the blues
By Edoardo FassioBorn in Rome and living in Turin, skilled singersongwriter and fingerstyle guitarist Gianni Serusi has been working professionally for about fifteen years in the fields of acoustic blues, hillbilly, outlaw country and all that apparently “primitive” music bequeathed by proletarian America ever since the days of the Great Depression. A good expert but never a slave to the genres he plays, he has variously been associated to the ranks of alt-country, garage rock, psych-folk or punk blues.
He does most everything on his own, in the oneman band mode, using the original stage name of The Blues Against Youth. It kind of refers to those feelings of unease, oppression and bewilderment “that have always been afflicting everyone, but above all the younger generations”. Gianni decided to try to battle these states of mind by availing himself of the same weapons: using the blues to chase away the blues. His music and his challenge are aimed to help young people - but not only them - to “learn to turn this negativity into something good”. As for Kurt Vonnegut, the great American author who experienced them firsthand, also according to TBAY the blues represent “the most suitable cure for the global epidemic of depression”.
The name also evokes your typical intolerance of old grumblers towards young folks and their attitudes, including the way they listen to music. “When I first went out for playing gigs, it happened to me that when I got to the venue, the people said: I expected you to be older”, Gianni adds with a smile. “Now that I’m forty-one they don’t tell me anymore”. “What I like about my name,” he concludes, “is that the more years go by, the more appropriate it sounds!”
With a discography of a dozen titles and over a thousand concerts under his chest, The Blues Against Youth has received praise from the international press and worked prestigious stages such as Relache, Time in Jazz, the Binic Folk Blues Festival and the London Blues Festival.
His new LP, As the Tide Gets High and Low, on the Turin label Escape from Today Records, ideally pays homage “to so many mysterious musicians whose memory is lost in time but whose spirit and whose stories have contributed to the perpetuation of the tradition”. Contrary to those unknown or forgotten bluesmen, TBAY’s name, distinctive sound and combative personality, already at home in clubs, theaters and festivals across Europe and the USA, are easily destined to imprint themselves on the minds and memories of a growing number of listeners. Not necessarily young.
The Blues Against Youth: usare il blues per scacciare i blues
Blues artists have a long history of capturing the essence of historic events through their lyrics. I work hard to keep that tradition alive. When writing about a tragic event such as a hurricane, where so many lives are impacted, I endeavor to do so in respectful, forthright, and compassionate manner. I hope I met that challenge with “Hurricane Blues”.
I have developed a niche as an “Event Inspired Songwriter”, able to quickly respond musically to some of the hot issues of our times. Through my music, I have addressed a myriad of high profile, and often sensitive topics ranging from school shootings, homelessness, election campaigns, and the Pandemic. Artist Photography Why Is It So Important?
By Ron FontenotFirst of all, not having a respectable photography portfolio is like winking in the dark – no one sees your depth. The point of separation between the ultra-successful artist and the hobbyist is their visual presence. Decision makers within the industry notice it right away plus the impressions you make on the fan base you are building and wish to
hold onto depend on creative presence. Artists have a choice if they know it exists. This paper serves to illustrate meaningful differences between mediocre images and those that stand out.
Not all shots are the same… In the early days of building presence, an artist begins the journey of creating what is known as their “brand”. Your photography portfolio
Publicity Photography
Publicity images are photos that are distributed for use by the media and circulated for publicity purposes by promotional agencies in the articles of advertisement, booking, and electronic press kits. These photos are used by explicit permissions only. The purpose of publicity photography is that it draws attention to the artist, to their face, many times a very tight shot (closeup photo) taken in a common environment such as on stage or in the photo studio. It is important for the photograph to evoke an emotional connection with the viewer so that they want to see more of this artist.
During an industry networking conference, an attendee reflected to another member of the team this comment…
“When the panel was talking about the photos I almost stood up
is the most critical visual medium that clearly illustrates your feel, genre, and style. It’s a form of messaging and this form of messaging is extremely effective simply because professional photography evokes raw emotions relative to the artist’s presence, more than just simply reading a bio. Here are my top four points:
Project Images
Project images are those photos that are associated with an artist’s project e.g. recordings of singles, EP, or albums. This may also include any video creations, advertising, touring, or promotional campaigns. Project images are more of a creative visual element in that they are used on album covers, posters, shirts, and additional promotional items. Visual content of music products will vary from project to project, and the photography or illustrations used should reflect a blending with the music contained in each.
and made a comment. Not only was what they were saying correct I was going to go a step further. I was going to tell the audience that I have been doing what I do for a living for forty years and a number of times I have run lesser-known artists on the
front cover than better known ones because their photos were much better.” ~ Kevin Wildman (Music News, and Rock And Blues International Magazines)
Live Photography
Live performance photography is the visual form that audiences relate to the most, and artists circulate most frequently. These images are truly the heroes that get the desired traction in an artist’s road to fame. The photographer must capture the split-second action that reveals and communicates the artist’s absolute pinnacle of performance passion and emotion. Not every photographer can capture these images correctly. They must have an impeccable sense of timing, be laser-
Behind the Scenes
Behind the scenes photography is exactly what it sounds like, and it applies to sessions in recording studios, video productions, pod-cast recordings, and interviews on TV and radio. On the go shots taken during the creative processes are more valuable than many expect. I’ve never come across an artist saying that they wish they didn’t have these images, it’s always “I wish we had done that!” Images taken during these times humanize the artist and their entire creative team. For a viewer to be able to be that “fly on the wall” capturing your process, your journey, is simply amazing. The opportunity to record these incredible creative events is one that I never take for granted. As the photogra-
pher, I always come away with deep feelings of gratitude for being invited to such an immersive, personal, and

Singer, songwriter, producer, Luthier and DJ Cigarbox Man is becoming internationally renowned for the signature style of music that he has coined “Sustainable Rock,” refreshing the scene with his powerful message of peace and advocacy for sustainability. Today the groundbreaking Chilean artist arrives with his new single “I’m Not Terrified,” a thrilling piece that will prompt listeners to confront even their worst demons.
Channeling the energy of legendary psychedelic rock band Pink Floyd,
Cigarbox Man created this extraordinary track while on a three-day retreat in the Sierras, encountering his inspiration for the song after a barefoot night walk through the snowy forest led him into a raw and primal state of mind. “I’m Not Terrified” hums with scintillating electricity, summoning the imagery of a mystifying yet alluring alternate universe born from the apprehension of the unknown. Accompanied by his iconic cigarbox guitar, which he crafted himself from recycled materials, with his latest single, Cigarbox Man offers fans a daring ride into the farthest corners of
the mind, taking them to the places they are most afraid to explore.
From the subways of Santiago to one of the main stages of Lollapalooza CL, and now to the Bay Area, Cigarbox Man has steadily been rising as one of the most talented and intriguing artists to hit the independent music scene in recent years. Captivating listeners everywhere with his compelling fusion of rock, electronica, delta blues and psychedelia, his engaging stories are rooted in the complex aspects of the human condition as well as his own personal experiences.
“I’m Not Terrified” is the third single from Cigarbox Man’s first fulllength album “Blue Dalom,” and the first track released in partnership with Chilean environmental organization Cultiva (https://www.cultiva.cl). Proceeds from the track will guarantee the planting of a minimum of ten trees, absorbing an estimated 6 tons of CO2 over the life of the trees.
The new album sees Cigarbox Man joining forces with the project’s coproducer Tomas Salcedo (from the band Fantastic Negrito), and a dream team of Bay Area Grammy winners and acclaimed artists and producers, including Thomas Pridgen on drums (The Mars Volta, Residente), Uriah Duffy on bass (Whitesnake), and Karl Perazzo on percussion (Carlos Santana). The highly anticipated album is being mixed by two-time Grammy winner Nahuel Bronzini (mixing engineer, Fantastic Negrito), and promises to solidify Cigarbox Man’s position as a trailblazer in the contemporary music landscape.

A cultural powerhouse, his accolades and achievements are numerous; he’s worked with a who’s who of fellow trailblazers including Jamie xx, Young Thug, Gorillaz, Burna Boy, Kano, Jorja Smith and Drake; he’s regularly topped the Billboard Reggae Album charts; he created Jamaica’s annual Unruly Fest which brings stars across the globe to the country, he’s won applause from the likes of NY Times, Billboard, Complex and covered the likes of The Fader, Wave and Clash amongst others, and most recently fronted Drake’s Nocta campaign. Throughout it all, he has remained an innovative force bringing dancehall to the world, racking up almost a billion global streams.
Since his 2014 debut album, Where We Came From, Popcaan has indeed put in the work. That album and his 2018 follow-up, Forever, debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top Reggae Albums. His last project FIXTAPE—which includes “Twist & Turn,” the hypnotic dancehall hit featuring Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR—has racked up over 191 million streams and received accolades from outlets like Pitchfork, who called it “a testament to his place at the forefront of the genre.”
Over his career, Popcaan has collaborated with a diverse array of artists including French Montana, Jamie XX, Young Thug, and Gorillaz, and been featured in The New York Times, Billboard, Complex, The FADER, and more. Signed to Drake’s OVO Sound in 2019, he has worked closely with the superstar, performing as an opening act on the European leg of his Boy Meets World tour. Most recently, he played a major role in Drake’s Nike x NOCTA first ever shoe drop. Shot in Jamaica, the campaign celebrated Popcaan and his country’s rich culture.
Following up from their recent 70s glam inspired garage rock single “Made To Love,” which saw Sunfruits reach new heights and garner support from The Guardian, Triple J, Tone Deaf and more, the Melbourne-based psychedelic pop
band are back with their new track, “Believe It All.” Engineered by Theo Carbo, produced by Gene Argiro, and mixed / mastered by John Lee at Phaedra Studios (The Murlocs, Bananagun), this track puts Sunfruits’ drummer Gene
Argiro in the spotlight, on lead vocals for the first time. With its anthemic vocals and sonic textures similar to The Flaming Lips and Pond, “Believe It All” showcases Sunfruits’ psychedelic pop edge at its best.
Written by the band’s drummer and producer Gene Argiro, the 4-minute track is about finding your inner child and rising above self doubt. It sees Sunfruits take their creative vision and song-writing to a whole new level, featuring layers of synthesisers and keys, fuzzed out guitars, thumping bass groove and reverberating drums. The track’s euphoric chorus is a highlight with multi-tracked vocals and a catchy guitar riff that lifts the song into new territory.
Accompanying the new track is a music video of equally euphoric proportions. Directed by Jack Ralph and Gene Argiro and shot by LP Productions, the music video features Melbourne / Naarm celebrity/Dolerave artist Our Carlson. The video follows Carlson on a journey of introspection. Interacting with different people on the street, he promotes an upcoming show whilst struggling with his own self doubt. The video features cameos from Sunfruits as different characters, including the backing band, as they see Carlson fulfil his live performance dream and become the star he was born to be — literally
“For the video, we wanted to create a concept that ties into the meaning of the song from the perspective of a burnt out ‘Rockstar’ (played by Our Carlson) who is trying to relive his glory days by performing his new single,” says Gene Argiro. “In his journey, he meets his new young backing band (played by Sunfruits) to whom he teaches these young musicians how to be a rockstar just like he was when he was young.”
About writing the track, Gene says: “I wrote this track after a discussion with Winnie (McQuinn) about how fun it would be to lean into more of a pop vibe for a Sunfruits track. That night I played around with the chord progression and jammed out a bassline in my room, back when I lived in my parents place. I ended up staying up until around 4am trying to finish the demo. I remember my dad the next morning complain-

ing that he could hear me yelling the chorus for hours trying to get a good take.”
The performance and recording of “Believe It All” saw everyone in the band shifting to different instruments, with lead singer and guitarist Winter McQuinn jumping behind the drum kit and the whole band multi-tracking vocals to achieve their desired anthemic sound. It was a fun and exciting process for the band as Gene explains; “myself and Winnie swapped roles in this song, with me taking on the lead guitar and vocals whilst Winnie jumped behind the drums, driving the song with his expert feel and groove. This was a super fun moment of the recording process, watching Winnie in his element behind the kit. Another special moment was when we realised just how many vocal tracks we were recording. We tripled all my takes and then had to do the same with Evie, Elena and Imogen’s takes to get that anthem feeling in the chorus’ and then the same process with the harmonies. Whilst this felt grueling at the time, we all had to laugh about it and it did give the track a big sound.
“Believe It All” by Sunfruits is out now on all digital platforms via Third Eye Stimuli Records and Earth Libraries (USA/Canada).
Sunfruits have been making waves around Melbourne and the Australian music scene for the past 3 years with their environmentally conscious and politically aware lyricism, paired with their contemporary psychedelic pop sound. The bands most recent 2022 release “Made To Love” saw them enter a new era and provided listeners with a nostalgia driven track leading the band into a glam rock direction. This new track and music video saw praise from The Guardian, listing it in their Best New Music for September and was supported across Triple J, RRR, PBS, Tone Deaf, Pilerats, Austin Town Hall, MTV, Rage, and more, and was backed up with a sold out single launch show at The Curtin in Naarm / Melbourne.

Following their most recent release “Made To Love,” which set a new bar of musical maturity for the band, “Believe It All” sees the band continue to showcase a powerful and impressive new sonic direction as they prove that they are one of the country’s most exciting new acts.
Up-and-coming Winnipeg singer, songwriter, and artist Leith Ross (They/ Them Pronouns) drops their new single “Orlando” alongside the official music video that they directed.
On “Orlando,” Leith paints a vivid picture of unrequited love. Vestiges of what could’ve been burn out under the glow of soft and sparse guitar. It all builds towards an admission, “I just think I was in love. I think I was in love.” The music video focuses on an idyllic bike ride underlined by unspoken emotion befitting of the song’s subdued intensity.
Leith says, “‘Orlando’ is about the slow and subtle realization that somebody doesn’t love you back in the way you wish they would. When a relationship feels like you are trying to hold on to a heavy object, but it’s slippery. It’s a sad, confusing feeling, but writing this song helped. I hope it can do the same for anyone else who can relate. It’s so hard to like people!! Sucks sometimes!!”
“Orlando” follows Leith’s previous viral release “We’ll Never Have Sex”. Listen here at https://leithross.lnk.to/ WNHSPR and watch the video here at https://youtu.be/6u_voPM6Hgk. The song has amassed nearly 28 million Spotify streams, and the video has received over 1 million YouTube views. In support of their new music, Leith performed sold-out headline shows across North America earlier this fall, as well as supported Lord Huron in Canada and Andy Shauf and Helena Deland in Europe on various tours this year. Not to mention, they were the recipient of the inaugural John Prine Songwriter Fellowship at this year’s Newport Folk Festival.
Hailing from outside of Ottawa, Ontario, Leith Ross embraced music at a young age, channeling emotional confessions through softly strummed chords. Recorded live, they made their debut with the independent Motherwell EP in 2020. Beyond prominent editorial playlisting, it incited widespread critical applause across US and Canada. Leith maintained this momentum in 2021 with the I’d Have To Think About It, and the title track has notably amassed nearly 10 million Spotify streams to date. With a rising profile on TikTok and among tastemakers, Leith signed to Republic

Leith Ross is a songwriter, singer, and artist born and raised in a small town outside of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. They’ve been a sensitive and overly artistic person since birth, and when they started writing songs around the age of 12, it quickly became Leith’s favourite way to be sensitive and overly artistic. Still is. Since then, they’ve recorded and released two projects, and have a new
one underway. Inspired by the likes of Lucinda Williams, Dolly Parton, Disney movie soundtracks, High School Musical, and their dad’s horrible parodies of all of the above, their songs attempt to explore themes of gut-wrenching and cheesy love, silliness, and extreme existentialism. Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Release Wild New Video for “Mr Medicine” Land of Sleeper Out February 17th on Missing Piece Group Records
The Newcastle, UK-based group Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs has shared a new video for their single “Mr Medicine,” replete with maniacal visuals to match the song’s unhinged Sabbathian power. The group will release their new album Land of Sleeper on February 17th via Missing Piece Group Records. Land of Sleeper is available for preorder now.
The video comes courtesy of artist Wilm Danby, known for his paintings and video art for the likes of Palace, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Bullion. “When I first heard the track, I immediately felt a kind of forward motion, like being pushed forward by an unknown force in a nightmare, toward an unknown thing/place, floating but with no
control. Scary but fun…” says Danby. “On repeated listens, it became sort of a mantra with riffs, about transcending fear through some kind of ritual or rite of passage. I wanted to make that ritual happen, to see what it could look like, and if it would work!”
‘Mr Medicine’ is a “song written to be a sonic arrow, purposefully succinct with no fat and no detours,” writes guitarist and producer Sam Grant. The result is something as immediate, incessant and directed as Pigs have ever gotten - the audio equivalent of sticking a fork in plug socket.
“Music is a powerful medicine and it should be consumed daily for mental wellbeing. Mr Medicine’s faithful and highly
regarded colleague is Doctor Gig, who we also have on speed dial,” vocalist and lyrics Matt Baty explains. “Lyrically I suppose the sentiment is not too dissimilar to Sister Sledge ‘Lost In Music’, only galvanized by heavy, heavy doses of distortion and really big drum fills.”
Last month Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs offered a first glimpse of the album in the form of a blistering live performance video of the track “Terror’s Pillow.”
The group has also announced two new U.S. tour dates, performing in Brooklyn on March 11th at Saint Vitus and Los Angeles
Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs
(continued from previous page)
on March 21st at Zebulon. Tickets are currently on sale here. They will also be performing in Austin at SXSW in 2023.
Land of Sleeper is the heavy-psych/ garage-rock band’s fourth studio album and follows 2020’s Viscerals, which Under The Radar described as a “sense bludgeoning amalgamation of metal, punk, and experimental noise at its most brutal,” while Louder declared it “Utterly enthralling.” Kerrang writes, “melding the fuzzed-up, stripped-back muscle of heavyweights like Black Sabbath and Motörhead to progressive sludginess, then pouring on a generous helping of the wryly abstract humor of IDLES, this third album is a strange, unruly offering.”
Whether dwelling in the realm of dreams or nightmares, the primordial drive of the band is more powerful than ever. Land of Sleeper, their fourth record in a decade of riot and rancor, is testimony to this: the sound of a band not so much reinvigorated as channeling a furious energy, which only appears to gather momentum as the band’s surroundings spin on their axis.
“Shouting about themes of existential dread comes very naturally to me, and I think because I’m aware of that in the past I’ve tried to rein that in a little” reckons Matt. “There’s definitely moments on this album where I took my gloves off and surrendered to that urge.”
Whether this means Pigs, a band once associated with reckless excess, have taken a darker turn to match the dystopian realm of the 2022 everyday, is open to debate. The band themselves aren’t necessarily convinced; “Sobriety does funny things to a man” reckons guitarist Adam Ian Sykes wryly.
“I know from my perspective, I was trying to write some much heavier and darker music” says guitarist and producer Sam Grant. “But this was an aim more as a counterpoint to earlier material, as opposed to
any sort of political or social commentary. I still very much see these heavier moments as musically euphoric, and emotionally cut loose or liberating.”
“For obvious reasons, the anticipation for the writing of Land of Sleeper was unlike anything we’d felt before” Adam adds. “These sessions were an almost religious experience for me. It felt like we were working in unison, connected to some unknowable hive mind.”
For all that, the last few years have seen Pigs’ stature rise in the wake of triumphant festival slots and sold-out venues alike, this remains a band, consummated by bassist John-Michael Hedley and returning drummer Ewan Mackenzie, who are fundamentally incapable of tailoring their sound to a prospective audience, instead standing alone and impervious as a monument of catharsis.
“Writing and playing music is often surprising and revealing, it can be like holding up a mirror and seeing things you didn’t expect to see” reckons Mackenzie. “For me, the darker tracks on the record hold in common a determination not to lose faith, despite the odds.”
The better to unite slumber and waking, Land Of Sleeper is no less than an act of transcendence for Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs - new anthems to elucidate a world sleepwalking to oblivion.

Ten days ahead of the release of their first album, Rodolphe Coster and Band are releasing today a new single soberly titled Gilles Memory. 4 minutes and 32 seconds long and characterized by a bass line ready to make a place for itself in the history of rock, the single surprises with its power, its obviousness and its urgency. All the energy of Rodolphe’s band is expressed there: Matt Jones of Male Gaze on bass, Jeff Tobias of Sunwatchers in a hallucinated part of Saxophone, Maya Postepski for a most frenetic drums... All recorded at the legendary studio G in Brooklyn. On a transcendental and punk loop, Rodolphe’s voice expresses a poetic and heartbreaking tribute full of pain, love and rage to Gilles L., a friend of Rodolphe who tragically died during the attacks in Brussels in 2016.
“Gilles L was a friend I met during my art studies in Brussels. We were both outsiders from the south of the country. Both of us had come to art late in life. He had first been a cook, I had first thought that I could become a philosopher.”
Gilles studied sound, I studied theatre, and we got to know each other thanks to our respective research on the possible encounters between dramaturgy and sound creation. After graduation, we almost lost sight of each other. I later learned that he had met a Japanese woman and moved there to live with her. He was there working on the production of a documentary. It was a happy coincidence because in the meantime I had woven links with Japan myself touring there and collaborating with Japanese artists. The last time I met him was in Brussels though. He was passing through Belgium to say hi to family and friends. On March 22, 2016 he took the metro and died suddenly in the attack at Maelbeek station with 15 other people. I wrote the song for his wife and daughter, and for the other victims. A souvenir song that I had to write about Gilles, about me and about our friendship.
My instinct pushed me to dramatize the song in a rage and a punk energy. I felt it had to be carried by a progressive loop, with a voice bordering on trance and hip-hop. The song was truly born out of rhythm and is fueled by my love for Andrew Wheaterall’s productions, including My Bloody Valentine’s EP GLIDER, and of course Primal Scream’s Screamadelica. I realized during the writing work that this line could turn until it became a trance. While evoking
wilderness, love and rage, I wanted to feed the energy of the song with a deep and saturated tribal accent.
For the lyrics, I was constantly drawn to memories of images that came to me from reading Georg Trakl, a poet I love so much. Mixing natural elements, gothic visions and creatures, my idea was to evoke the feeling of mourning and loss through eerie allegories and the hallucinated images of a bunch of kids sleeping in the forest and facing a mixture of excitement and fear. I also wanted to say how genderless the depth of a friendship was: a mixture of love, longing, loss, death and life.
Leonard Cohen said that poetry is made from the ashes of existence, Gilles Memory is an incredibly powerful piece celebrating the memory of Gilles L and the glimmers of friendship.
Multidisciplinary artist and legendary activist from the Brussels scene, Rodolphe Coster has already lived several lives, died several deaths, and
had as many resurrections.
At 43, he will release his first album under his own name this fall entitled High With The People.
Recorded at the legendary Studio G in Brooklyn, the album was produced by Matt Jones (Male Gaze, Castle Face Records) and brings together a dream team of soulful musicians including Jeff Tobias (Sunwatchers), Sarah Register (Lou Reed, Depeche Mode, Protomartyr), Atsuko Hatano, (Jim O’rourke) and Maya Postepski (Princess Century, The Organ) among others.
The result is cold and irreverent rock, free from all shackles and oozing the rage to live through every pore.
During the last 5 years, the Brussels artist performed in Canada, Europe, the United States, and Japan and notably opened for Black Dice, Grimes, Molly Nilsson, Liars, Italia 90, and Thee Oh Sees.

OBITUARY comment:
“We couldn’t be more excited to FINALLY get this new album out and into the hands of the fans! We chose “The Wrong Time” for the first single as it is a true depiction of the sound, style and feel we went for in the studio and is a great taste of what you can expect from Dying of Everything.”
Additionally, OBITUARY begins the North America Great Heathen Tour with Amon Amarth, Carcass & Cattle Decapitation this week! OBITUARY join Hatebreed for a special one off show tonight in Albuquerque, NM before the tour begins. OBITUARY returns to
Europe in January/February 2023 with Trivium & Heaven Shall Burn. A full list of tour dates is available below.
Dying Of Everything destroys in the time-honored tradition of early OBITUARY classics Slowly We Rot and Cause of Death while maintaining the killer studio sound that the band has been perfecting in their own studio since 2007’s monstrous Xecutioner’s Return.
Like just about every album in OBITUARY’s vast catalog, Dying Of Everything is instantly memorable; it’s a skill that OBITUARY have only improved upon over the years. It’s unusual for a band that’s been around since the ’80s to be doing some of their best work in the 2020s, but that’s exactly what OBITUARY have accomplished through their do-it-yourself attitude and relentless touring on a worldwide level. “I think it comes down to passion,” vocalist John Tardy offers. “I say this all the time, but if something’s not fun, I’m not gonna do it. And we’re having more fun than ever.”
He Is Legend Release Endless Hallway
Like a true American classic at this point, He Is Legend resemble an old, dogeared novel or nearly worn-out VHS tape that you dust off in order take a familiar ride and get thrilled at the same time.
Their alchemy of reckless rock ‘n’ roll grooves, heavy metal unpredictability, and downright indefinable magic continues to enchant, enthrall, and enrapture a devout fan base, quietly bordering on cultlike fascination. You’ll see their faithful screaming along to every word once the band hits the stage or catch the flash of a He Is Legend tattoo in passing. It’s as gloriously understated as some ritualistic secret society with an equally intense pledge. The quartet—Schuylar Croom [vocals], Adam Tanbouz [lead guitar], Matty Williams [bass], and Jesse Shelley [drums]— engender this level of devotion because they never compromise. Their catalog spans I Am Hollywood, Suck Out the Poison, It Hates You, Heavy Fruit, and Few. However, it would be 2019’s White Bat that elevated them to another level altogether. Revolver highlighted it as “rollicking,” while Metal Injection awarded it a rating of “9/10” and christened them “legends, indeed.” Riff Magazine hailed them as “one of metal’s best-kept secrets,” and Heavy Blog Is Heavy applauded White Bat as “easily the band’s best album in a decade, but it even takes a run at being the strongest collection of their career.” Plus, it generated nearly 10 millionplus total streams.
The Pandemic and a series of trials and tribulations put a pause on this momentum only for the group to roar back with their seventh full-length offering, Endless Hallway [Spinefarm Records].
“There’s a lot of aggression from all of us,” the band agrees. “It’s, heavier, raw and back to our roots—similar to Suck Out The Poison. Personally, the last year was a rollercoaster. For this album, we thought, ‘What do we want to do and what do fans want to hear?’ I’m hoping you get this onslaught of He Is Legend. No one came out of the last two years the same. We’ve been through it to the point where it seems like there’s a bit of witchcraft over us. This is a coming-of-age story though. Metaphorically, that’s the endless hallway we’re in.”
This time around, the band wrote in their rehearsal space in Wilmington, NC. They recorded drums outside of Knoxville before cutting guitars with Al Jacob at Warrior Sound in Chapel Hill, NC. Vocals would be a different story as Schuylar endured one of the most trying seasons of his life.
“We had to push the vocal recording, because my stomach was failing due to my diabetes,” he sighs. “It was so bad I couldn’t perform. It took a while to get back to some semblance of normal. Eventually, I hopped in the car and drove ten hours to Nashville to record at Mitch Marlow’s place. I’m a
He Is Legend Release Their New Spinefarm Records Album Endless Hallway
different person now. The universe throws those things at you to make you stronger. That’s personal growth.”
Emblematic of this growth, the first single “Lifeless Lemonade” unleashes an unapologetically heavy barrage laced with sour-faced soul. The band explains, “‘Lifeless Lemonade’ is about development. You’re trying live your dream from a closed-off room or endless hallway. It’s how we felt in the middle of the Pandemic. We pride ourselves on our live show. Without that, it was lifeless. Sometimes through frustration, you expel something aggravatedly beautiful.”
Baring their teeth, “The Prowler” kicks down the door with a wild riff and raucous vocal delivery meant to get feet stomping and asses moving, which rallies around a clarion call, “Let’s be together and lift each other up. We’ve got to tear the fucking city down to heal.”
Then, there’s “Sour,” leaning into classic rock with a haunting hook meant to confront “a lack of togetherness.” The trip
culminates on the near six-minute “Lord Slug.” It trudges towards one final moment of catharsis with hulking and hypnotic force.
“I was very fascinated by religion,” he adds. “Some of those hymnals are so dark. Growing up in the South, I was around religion a lot. So, the song has these buzzwords and phrases. It’s important to me, because I let them play out in a sense where they would be shocking on ‘Lord Slug’.”
Ultimately, Endless Hallway launches another era for He Is Legend—and rock ‘n’ roll.
“When everything went to shit, I think we were on our way to becoming the band we’ve always wanted to be,” Schuylar leaves off. “We didn’t let the Pandemic stop us. We’re still best friends. Adam, Matty, and I have been doing this since we were 17-yearsold. Jesse is such a pivotal member of this group too. I don’t think we’ve ever been in a position where we feel as good as we do. We’re clear-headed, and we’re ready to take on the world. This album should open the last door of the Endless Hallway,” he grins.
Chelsea Cutler Releases New Single “Men On The Moon”
Recently Completed Headline Tour Across North America
Listen To “Men ON The Moon” @
https://chelseacutler.lnk.to/MOTMPR
Singer, songwriter, and producer Chelsea Cutler is back this week with new music, dropping her long-awaited single “Men On The Moon”. The track arrives after weeks of teasing it on social media and performing it live on tour, building fans’ anticipation and signaling the beginning of a new
chapter for the Platinum-Certified artist.
On the song, Chelsea sings over a soft piano melody accented by delicately strummed acoustic guitar. Through her dreamy delivery and emotionally charged lyrics, she ponders, “We put men
on the moon, but I still don’t know how to get to you.” Sonically and thematically, it finds Chelsea evolving yet again.
She says, “‘Men On The Moon’ is a special, special song to me. Going into this summer, I wanted to challenge myself to dig deeper and confront emotions I had previously lacked the capacity to face. There are so many nuances to relationships and heartbreak that we simply struggle to understand. That notion is bewildering to me and is what inspired me to write this song.”
Chelsea recently wrapped up Part Two of the “When I Close My Eyes Tour”. The tour was a continuation of the first leg in spring 2022 and followed a slew of festival performances at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Governor’s Ball, and more.
In March, Chelsea released the deluxe edition of her sophomore album When I Close My Eyes, featuring the fan-favorite single “the lifeboat’s empty!”. When I Close My Eyes was written, recorded, and produced by Chelsea with several artists and collaborators. GRAMMY-nominated, platinumselling artist, prolific songwriter and spellbinding live performer Sophie B. Hawkins has released the official video for her brand-new single “Love Yourself.” The stunning visual was shot at the former brothel, Best Little Boarding House in the old mining town of Victor, Colorado. Sophie teamed up with Nigel Dick, who is known for his work directing some of the most iconic music videos of the 90s including Britney Spears’ “Baby One More Time” and “Oops I Did It Again,” Celine Dion’s “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now” and “Wonderwall” by Oasis, and the result is pure Sophie.

The thing that came across on that day we worked together is that Sophie seems very comfortable in her skin and she essentially embodies the meaning of the song.”
“‘Love Yourself’ is an opportunity in every moment to create a positive feeling, a happy feeling about oneself and one’s life path – no matter what – it’s a choice, and a power,” said Sophie. “Loving myself is a superpower.”

Leader and founder of FOREIGNER, Mick Jones said, “Many years ago, I wrote a song called ‘Feels Like The First Time’ and today we are launching one last worldwide tour. We will be presenting a show that I know will have the same enthusiasm as our very first appearances. The tour will start this summer in America and we hope to get to every place that we have played over the last several years. While I’m sure our fans will have mixed feelings about the end of the road for the band, I know our shows are going to delight audiences everywhere.”
Says FOREIGNER lead singer Kelly Hansen, “The time has come. We have more or less lived our lives on the road for almost eighteen years. We have always strived to give you our best and we intend to finish this the same way.
Foreigner has a brilliant and increasingly demanding catalogue of songs to sing and I refuse to give them less than they deserve. So, we’re going to finish strong. I want to make it very clear how grateful and appreciative we are to our audiences all over the world who have supported this band. I’m sure there may be occasions when we’ll do some special appearances, but I think the time is coming for us to live off the road. Thank
you all so much!”
“I remember how cool the last time we toured with Foreigner was in 1982. We played to massive stadiums - New Orleans, Kansas City, Day On the Green in Oakland, JFK in Philly - and we’re back together again, 41 years later. It’s going to be the Tour of Summer ’23!” said Paul Dean of Loverboy.
“It’s not very often you get a chance to play on the same stage as one of your all-time favorite bands...and how many hit songs can you play on the same stage every night of a 2023 Summer tour?….. it’s going to be amazing…. I can’t wait.” Said Mike Reno of Loverboy.

Multi-diamond certified, GRAMMY Award® winning artist Macklemore revealed today the official album artwork and preorder/add/save link for Macklemore’s forthcoming studio full-length titled BEN, to be released on March 3, 2023.
The official music video for his latest track ‘FAITHFUL’ ft. NLE Choppa is also out now. Directed by John C. Peterson and with his wife Tricia Davis as the creative director, the video cleverly depicts the dark forces of addiction and stars both Macklemore and NLE Choppa.
‘FAITHFUL’ ft. NLE Choppa is the third track to be released this year as part of this new era. An honest and raw insight into his own journey through relapse and recovery, this latest track offers a glimpse into the struggles and inner turmoil when dealing with addiction.
Speaking on his latest single, Macklemore shared: “I wrote FAITHFUL after a 2020 relapse that brought me back to a familiar darkness I naively thought I had escaped. It’s a personal song for me, reflecting on my struggles with addiction. As long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to be clean, and yet the disease I have is always present, it always follows me. The record explores the presence of addiction in every facet of my life, and how pervasive and insidious it can be.”
On collaborating with NLE Choppa, he added, “I love what Choppa did with his verse. He brought the song into his world, writing from the perspective of a supportive friend and showing up in a desperate time. I thought the song would push him out of his comfort zone, but honestly he sounded right at home in the pocket and brought a whole new concept to the record. It’s been refreshing spending some time with him. I’m hella impressed not only by his pen, but his his perspective on life and quest for spiritual growth.”
Macklemore has also announced his first leg of THE BEN TOUR which starts in April 2023 in Europe and the U.K. for a full list of dates and more information, go to: https://macklemore.com

DRYAD
Iowa City, IA based black metal band DRYAD are premiering their new single, Brine Pool Aberration, and its accompanying visualizer. Brine Pool Aberration is the second track to be taken from the group’s forthcoming debut album, The Abyssal Plain, which is set for release via Prosthetic Records on January 20. DRYAD dive further into thematic oceanic depths on Brine Pool Aberration, offering up glimmers of hope through the darkness.
Speaking on the premiere, DRYAD comments: “As the light fades, and one descends blindly into the blackened depths of the ocean, a glimmer of hope and madness both begin to take shape below. A seemingly impossible lake beneath an ocean, a dream within a dream. What illuminating horrors lie within the anoxic brine?”
DRYAD’s take on black metal is as abrasive and primeval as you would hope from a band that draws their biggest lyrical influences from the
furthest reaches of the ocean floor, far from even the weakest tendrils of sunlight. Their stygian take on the genre is chaotic and suitably lo-fi, but on The Abyssal Plain, the oppressive cacophony is punctuated with synth-heavy interludes heavily inspired by 80s horror movie soundtracks (think John Carpenter and Dario Argento).
The activity of the intricate ecosystems 10,000 feet below the surface of the ocean provides an abundance of material for lyrical horror stories of near-unbelievable monsters and mind-bending geological features, but DRYAD are keen to stress the environmental message woven throughout their music (the band itself is named after the mythological spirit and protector of the forests). Ocean environments are continuously being polluted and exploited for supposed human gain, and the despair and fury this elicits is palpable in the visceral sound of the band.
The real-life horrors that lurk on the deepest parts of the seafloor also serve as a metaphor for the tenebrose depths of depression and psychological struggle, reflecting a place where it is impossible for light to penetrate. And yet, even in those deepest, darkest depths, incredible creatures not only exist, but thrive - some even creating their own light - in seemingly the most inhospitable of environments. So, whilst this album is very much about the depths of the ocean and the alien creatures of the abyssal plains that lie at the bottom of our seemingly mundane Earth, it is also about feeling alone in the darkness and still creating your own light. Being able to manufacture hope in a seemingly hopeless place - both for oneself and for the future of the planet.
The Abyssal Plain was recorded in the band’s home state of Iowa by Luke Tweedy, mixed and produced by Jaxon Vesely, and co-produced by DRYAD’s Claire Nunez, before being mastered by Adam Tucker at Signaturetone. On their debut album, DRYAD have crafted a syntheses of sound - forged from foundations that are part horror story, part rallying cry.
DRYAD is: Claire Nunez (Vocals, Guitar, Synths), Grimmtooth (Vocals, Guitar), Joe Milik (Bass) and Oliver Weilein (Drums).
Theory Of A Deadman recently returned with their anthemic new single “Dinosaur” (Roadrunner Records) and now, the multi-platinum rock band has unveiled the song’s official music video. The “Dinosaur” music video was directed by Tony Corella (Hozier, Noah Cyrus). The release of
“Dinosaur” marked the chart-topping quartet’s first taste of new music since 2020’s acclaimed album Say Nothing and a return to form stylistically. The hard-hitting, riff-heavy track, produced by Martin Terefe (Jason Mraz, YUNGBLUD), is currently impacting Active Rock radio nationwide, where it’s already hit
#25 on the chart, and is featured on various rock playlists across DSPs including Spotify’s Rock Rotation and Top of the Rock, Apple Music’s The New Rock and Breaking Rock, and Amazon Music’s Rock Arena and Fresh Rock.
‘This was another fun video to make with director Tony Corella, who we also worked with for the ‘Blow’ video,” shares front man Tyler Connolly. “We felt it was important to lead off with a lighthearted video that is sure to have you smiling as you rock out to the track!!”
With sky-high hooks, riffs as thick as a 2x4, rumbling grooves, and a razor-sharp sense of humor, Theory Of A Deadman — Tyler Connolly [lead vocals, guitar], Dave Brenner [guitar, backing vocals], Dean Back [bass], and Joey Dandeneau [drums, backing vocals] — have quietly persisted as an unapologetic, unbreakable, and undeniable hard rock force with major multi-platinum hits and countless sold out shows in each of the past two decades. Jamming together in basements throughout high school, the band burst out of their small hometown of North Delta, British Columbia with the self-titled, Theory of a Deadman, during 2002. In addition to the double-platinum breakthrough album Scars & Souvenirs [2008] and gold-certified The Truth Is… [2011], Theory have notched a procession of hits, including the gold-certified “All Or Nothing,” “Bitch Came Back,” and “Lowlife,” platinum-certified “Angel,” “Hate My Life,” and “Not Meant To Be,” double-platinum “Bad Girlfriend,” and triple-platinum “RX (Medicate).” As the biggest smash of their career thus far, the latter hit, off their 2017 album Wake Up Call, marked their third #1 on the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks Chart and garnered a nomination for “Rock Song of the Year” at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. Their impressive catalogue has also logged two Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top 200 and amassed more than 1 billion collective streams on Spotify alone and over 675 million views on their official YouTube. In 2020, the award-winning band’s seventh studio album Say Nothing landed at #2 on the Billboard Alternative Albums Chart and #3 on the Rock Albums Chart. Plus, the album, featuring the chart-topping and powerful single “History of Violence,” earned praise from American Songwriter, Billboard, Alternative Press, and Classic Rock Magazine who awarded it “4-outof-5 stars.” And now, once again, Theory Of A Deadman delivers a barrage of rock anthems, beginning with the single “Dinosaur” and more to come.
EVERCLEAR
(continued from previous page)
Everclear, one of the leading alternative rock bands to emerge from the ‘90s led by vocalist, guitarist and founder Art Alexakis, has released their new single “Year of the Tiger.” The politically-charged offering marks the first new song from the band since the release of their 2015 album, Black Is The New Black. Go to https://fanlink.to/yott to listen to “Year of the Tiger” and go to https://youtu.be/oJEcgmC_Q10 to watch the official lyric video.
“After all of the events of the last almost 3 years with Covid, worldwide shutdowns, the political debacle of 2020…emanating from in and outside of MAGA world, I felt I needed to write a song that not just explained my anger and frustration, but a song that served as a mission statement,” shares Alexakis, who was also born in a Year of the Tiger in 1962. “I feel like the tiger should be the new symbol of the new Democratic party. We will not back down, we will not forget, we hit back, we challenge lies, and we refuse to be intimidated by ignorance or loud voices. To quote the song’s lyrics, ‘Here we are in the Year of the Tiger, we are where we are because of all the big lies.’ Tigers are everywhere.”
Everclear is celebrating 30 years as a band in 2022. In its honor, the fourpiece – Art Alexakis (vocals, guitar), Davey French (guitar), Freddy Herrera (bass), Brian Nolan (drums) – has been on the road all across the U.S. on their headlining 30th Anniversary Tour, which featured special guests Fastball and The Nixons in the summer and Sponge this fall. The band also released a special remastered reissue of their 1993 debut album, World Of Noise, in June, making the currently out-of-print album available for the first time on digital streaming platforms. World Of Noise – 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition features all 12 original tracks plus 6 bonus songs including the previously unreleased “Drunk Again” and “Nervous & Weird 2001 Remix.” The reissue will be available on vinyl soon. Go to https:// fanlink.to/everclear to listen.
Up next, Everclear heads overseas to the UK for a run of co-headlining tour dates throughout November with fellow ‘90s rockers Soul Asylum. The band will then wrap the year with a handful of headlining Southern California shows
You do not have to like it Tigers, we are everywhere The math it doesn’t lie Someday you will face the facts The truth is not a slogan On a stupid red hat
with Sponge supporting. For these shows, which includes a stop on the Sunset Strip at the famed Whisky a Go Go on December 1st, Everclear has teamed up with Border Kindness, a 501c3 nonprofit humanitarian-aid organization, for a toy drive, encouraging those in attendance to bring a new, unwrapped toy with them. See below for full list of upcoming tour dates and visit http://www.everclearmusic.com/tour for details and to purchase tickets.
Since forming in 1992, Everclear has enjoyed a lengthy career by any measure, spanning 11 studio releases, including four that have been certified Gold or Platinum, selling over 6 million records, and achieving 12 Top 40 Hit Singles on Mainstream Rock, Alternative, and Adult Top 40 radio, including “Santa Monica,” “Father of Mine,” “I Will Buy You A New Life,” “Wonderful” and “Everything To Everyone,” as well

as numerous videos, thousands of shows, and various other accolades, including a 1998 Grammy nomination. The original 1993 release of World Of Noise on the Portland independent label Tim/Kerr Records, paired with the band’s significant efforts to break into college radio and the buzz they’d created within the Portland music scene, attracted the attention of major labels, including Capitol Records, which signed the group soon after. Beginning with their majorlabel debut, 1995’s platinum-selling album Sparkle and Fade, and its massive chart-topping hit “Santa Monica,” Everclear was soon a household name and catapulted into the masses, thus allowing their impressive three-decade career to prosper and endure. In recent years, Alexakis created and runs the annual Summerland Tour, which features a package of popular ‘90s alt rock bands, and also released his first solo album, Sun Songs, in 2019.
Monster Magnet Releases “Test Patterns Vol.1” On God Uknown Records
Long considered to be the true essence of Magnet’s early psychedelic voyages, “Tab” is finally returning to earth’s stratosphere with the release of ‘Test Patterns: Vol.1’, available tomorrow via God Unknown Records on 12” vinyl.
‘Test Patterns: Vol. 1’ features a 2021 remix of “Tab” by John McBain, alongside the original demo, recorded in 1988 and then released on the aforementioned ‘Forget About Life, I’m High On Dope’ in 1989.
Born in Red Bank, New Jersey, the early days of Monster Magnet were a cosmos away from the major-label, alternative rock boom that would suck the band into the shiny MTV world of the early to middle 90s. Originally formed by Dave Wyndorf, John McBain and Tim Cronin, Monster Magnet came into the world with a lysergic ooze in 1989 with two demo tapes – ‘Forget About Life, I’m High On Dope’ and ‘I’m Stoned, What Ya Gonna Do About It?’ – making it perfectly clear from the start where they were coming from.
This was a band reveling in bad trips and the death of the hippy dream with a Manson Family stare, playing squelchy lo-fi psychedelic music with a rabid punk rock
sneer, like The Stooges terrorizing Hawkwind at the most unpleasant free festival imaginable. There were tales of entire audiences at their gigs being spiked with LSD. It didn’t matter if this was true or not, it all added to the mystique. This was indeed a satanic drug thing, you wouldn’t understand.
Those two demos formed the base of what would become their pivotal ‘Spine Of God’ album from 1991 and the ’25…Tab’ EP, which featured the mesmerizing 32-minute opus itself, “Tab”.

“When Magnet started, John and I worked in record stores in Red Bank and Dave worked in the comic bookstore and we
made a lot of tapes for each other,” recalls Tim Cronin. “A lot of ‘check this shit out’ kind of stuff…Hawkwind, early UFO, Amon Duul, Can, Skullflower, Morgen, Loop, Crystalized Movements, early Alice Cooper, Walking Seeds, Butthole Surfers, Spacemen 3. When we recorded the first demo and got to “Tab”, we just beat the shit out of it until it became heavy, noisy, weird, mean and either too long or not long enough, depending on your mood. Everything we wanted in a song (at least everything I wanted in a song), punishingly psychedelic. Jersey Shore krautrock.”

Having rechanneled their efforts into consciously making a return to the hard rock that they were known for, KISS – Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and Eric Carr – unleashed Creatures Of The Night in October of 1982. In addition to a harder sound, the album is also noted for its heavier, darker mood. The single “I Love It Loud” has been performed on nearly every subsequent KISS tour, while “War Machine,” the ballad “I Still Love You,” and the title song also featured heavily in their live sets for a number of years. Also of note is “Killer,” which featured the group’s first songwriting collaboration with their soon-to-be-guitarist Vinnie Vincent. Creatures Of The Night received accolades in magazines such as Kerrang! and Guitar Player – which both placed the album in their top five end of year chart for 1982 – and has attained Gold Album status (sales of 500,000+).
The ‘Creatures Of The Night 40’ Super Deluxe boasts 103 total tracks with 75 tracks being unreleased. Newly remastered on CD 1, the original album has never sounded better. CDs 2 & 3 feature 34 demos, rarities & outtakes including unreleased gems such as “Deadly Weapon (Penny Lane Demo),” “Not For The Innocent (Demo)” and “Betrayed (Outtake).” CDs 4 & 5 highlight 26 incredible, soundboard live recordings from the Creatures ‘82/’83 Tour and seven super rare tour sound effects, all recorded and archived by the Creatures Tour sound engineer Harry Witz. The Blu-ray Audio disc showcases a first-ever Atmos and 5.1 surround mix from the original album multi-tracks plus the high-resolution newly remastered 1982 stereo mix of the original album.
Additionally, the Super Deluxe box features an extensive array of bonus kollectible KISS memorabilia and ephemera, including:

THE
ROLLING STONES IN MONO
THE ROLLING STONES IN MONO (LIMITED COLOR EDITION) VINYL BOX SET TO BE RELEASED BY ABKCO
ON
JANUARY 20 16 LPs Encompassing All 1963-1969 Mono
World’s Greatest Rock and Roll Band” Available In Colored Vinyl Set For First Time Ever
ABKCO Records is set to release The Rolling Stones in Mono (Limited Color Edition) vinyl box set in early 2023. Originally issued on black vinyl, CD and digital in 2016, the updated version contains the entirety of the Rolling Stones’ 1960s recorded output (186 tracks spread across 16 180-gram LPs), now presented in a plethora of vinyl colors – 14 total – chosen to match the original cover art of classic albums such as Aftermath and Beggars Banquet.
Spanning the era between 1963 and 1969, The Rolling Stones in Mono (Limited Color Edition) covers the formative years of the legendary London-based quintet, who were dubbed and acknowledged as “the world’s greatest rock and roll band,” as they were churning out eradefining hits such as “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” “Paint It, Black,” “Ruby Tuesday” and “Honky Tonk Women.” Packaged as 15 separate albums, The Rolling Stones In Mono contains key releases from the band’s
U.S. and U.K. discographies, organized to include every track from the era while minimizing catalog redundancies. Stray Cats, a 2-LP compilation exclusive within the vinyl box set, ties up all loose ends, incorporating every 1960s Rolling Stones track that isn’t found on the other 14 albums, for a total of 24 tracks. It includes two versions of the aforementioned “Poison Ivy,” Barrett Strong’s 1959 hit “Money,” as well
as “Fortune Teller.” Other rarities include “Con Le Mie Lacrime,” a version of “As Tears Go By” sung in Italian, “Stoned” (the instrumental bside of “I Wanna Be Your Man”), and the 1965 outtake of Otis Redding’s “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long,” now freed of the fake applause to disguise its studio origin when the track appeared on the 1966 LP Got Live If You Want It.
During this period, most rock and pop recordings were mixed in mono, with the stereo version often an afterthought, and only dealt with following the completion of the original (mono) version of a given track. In short, mono reigned and this was, indeed, the case for the Rolling Stones at that time. While typical playback systems of the ‘60s were less than sophisticated, the original mono recordings, especially as heard through quality components, were of the highest audio quality and had a powerful and very direct impact. “You felt you were in the room . . . listening to exactly what went down in the studio, no frills, no nothing,” Keith Richards wrote in his autobiog-

raphy, Life. “Rock was a completely new musical form,” Mick Jagger explained in a 1995 Rolling Stone interview. “It hadn’t been around for ten years when we started doing it . . . You felt like one of the chosen few, one of the only ones in the world who would get to play with this new toy. We had evangelical fervor.” Late recording engineer Dave Hassinger explained how he mixed his ’64-’66 works for the Stones in mono. “They always played together at the same time. They would run the parts down, work out the changes here and there, nail it down, then start recording.”
Rolling Stone senior editor David Fricke, in his 5,000-word essay that accompanies the set, writes, “The Rolling Stones in Mono is the full studio account of that first decade of history and mayhem, newly remastered with unprecedented fidelity and revelatory detail.” His commentaries are included with the box set as part of a 4-color deluxe 48-page lie-flat book that features numerous rare photos by renowned photographer Terry O’Neill. The 16 LPs are housed in the original full color album jackets that fit along with the book into a one piece specially crafted box.
The Rolling Stones in Mono (Limited Color Edition) was mastered by GRAMMY® awardwinning engineer Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering. For the project he utilized Direct Stream Digital (DSD) transfers from the original master recordings, with a sampling rate of 2,822,400. Lacquer cutting for vinyl was performed at Abbey Road Studios by Sean Magee. The Rolling Stones in Mono (Limited Color Edition) project has been overseen by Teri Landi, ABKCO’s GRAMMY® award-winning Chief Audio Engineer.

The Biker, The Blues & Spicy Holiday Music
Alligator Records (Chicago Illinois) is known worldwide for their extensive collection of blues recordings by the greats. Among them Shemika Copeland who does a superb kick ass job of delivering “Stay A Little Longer Santa”. The tune swings and Shemika’s delivery is captivating to say the least. You gotta hear this one. That tune and others can heard on Alligator’s Genuine Houserockin’ Christmas album. The holidays in general present all sorts of genres but if you are into the blues and R&B then here’s a list that you will probably like a lot. Just be careful some are a bit colorful and shall we say not perfect for any visiting priests. Moving away from sexy deliveries and onto remakes of famous holiday songs with suggestive lyrics take a listen to anything that Bob Rivers & Twister Radio have on the market. “Walkin’ Around In Women’s Underwear” is about as descriptive as a songwriter can be about being a bit perverted and enjoying the holidays in your own special way. Very humorous indeed. Moving on to romantics for a moment Mariah Carey’s original “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is about as cool as it gets within the genre. Obviously the girl’s got it working big time. Next up is Joan Osborne whose “What Do Bad Girls Get” will set you free with desire. Looking for a more traditional holiday treat then look no further than Jose Feliciano’s “Feliz Navidad” nobody but nobody can put a person into the festive mood than his holiday favorite. You say you would like some of that R&B music like you heard in “Home Alone”? Well look no further because you can hear The Drifter’s perform their classic rendition of “White Christmas” on Rhino Record’s R&B Christmas Vol.1. The same EP also presents Booker T. & The M.G.s delivery of “Silver Bells” which is way cool. Of course who could forget The Jackson Five performing “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” on The Jackson Five
Ultimate Christmas Collection album. Back on the humorous side The Christmas Jug Band presents “Santa Lost A Ho” which if you haven’t heard it well it’s a rather creative take on Santa’s helpers. Now over on the country side of Christmas releases nothing beats Marty Stuart’s “Even Santa Claus Gets The Blues” which resides on the album named A Very Special Acoustic Christmas. When it comes to a tradi-

tional country release check out George Strait’s “Christmas Cookies” number which can be found on the album by the same name. An up tempo tasteful romp in which George paints a mental picture of things going on in the kitchen as the family gets ready for the holiday. Next a blast from the past as the noted record producer Phil Spector built a wall of sound around The Ronettes and their rendition of “Sleigh Ride” which sets the scene for the upcoming holidays. The song was released with a host of additional Phil Spector artists and their songs with the compilation being available on the “A Christmas Gift For You” album. Now if you are looking for way cool funk beat for the holidays Rhino Records has it. On their Volume 3 R&B Christmas album the one and only Bootsy Collins performs an up tempo version of “Merry Christmas Baby” and it delivers all the flare you would expect from Bootsy Collins. On the other hand if you want to get into some really cool boogie woogie holiday tunes check out The Brian Setzer Orchestra and their “Boogie Woogie Santa Claus” As for me yours truly is going to put on about five pounds after taking in all the festive get togethers which includes nailing some fourteen year old scotch, a fresh Macanudo, taking in some of the best live blues the world has ever known and maybe, just maybe standing under the mistletoe with Miss Nude Arizona. Well a guy has to have his priorities right? This has been a year of great riding, meeting new people and visiting some of the top blues venues and festivals in America. Not to leave out renewing some long term friendships as well. Time to go over the scooter from stem to stern and get it ready for hitting the road in January. Riding in the south in the wintertime is way cool and southerners treat their guests right. So what’s not to like about getting your motor running and getting out on the highway? Special thanks to the good folks at Rock And Blues International Magazine and Houston Music News for putting up with me in 2022. Wait until they see what’s coming!
