Meeting in the Middle at PS/MS 114

The announcement of middle schools (MS) reopening is a hallmark moment for a city overwhelmed by the pandemic. On Thursday, February 25, the New York City school system, the nation’s largest, will finally reopen its doors to thousands of students in grades 6 through 8. PS/MS 114 - The Belle Harbor School is among the many public schools ready to open its doors to its middle schoolers. After their schools were ordered closed on November 5 following a citywide uptick in coronavirus cases, middle school students who had opted for blended learning at the start of the school year, will be able to return to their school buildings next week. Officials have asked MS educators to return the day before, February 24, and are promising them priority for the vaccine over the mid-winter break through February 21. The decision to reopen was announced by Mayor Bill de Blasio and NYC Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza on February 8 after they were made aware of damage brought about by student isolation. "Our public schools coming back strong is going to be one of the foundations of everything that happens going forward," de Blasio said during the announcement. "Our educators have done an incredible job supporting students remotely, but as we've said from the beginning, nothing can replace

in-person learning and the support our students receive in person. We're so thrilled to be able to provide that," Carranza added. Elizabeth Welsome, Principal of PS/MS 114 agrees. “When we learned the MS students would be returning to the building, there was a sense of relief and excitement. We are providing quality remote instruction to our MS students, however, we believe that nothing replaces the ability to interact live with teachers and classmates,” she told The Rockaway Times. “We know that conversations and social interaction will improve with the ability to be in person. In addition, so many families and caregivers have shared their concerns about the MS students being home for so long. We knew that this was important for students as well as families.” Public schools switched to fully remote learning after Covid numbers increased in the fall, but the trajectory has changed since. Dr. Ted Long, who oversees the city’s Test and Trace Corps, said “We’re very confident we can do it” regarding the reopening. PS 1114, which like most public schools, has had in-person instruction for its elementary school students since December 7, says it’s ready. “We are following all safety protocols that are necessary for buildings to remain open in a safe manner. MEETING IN THE MIDDLE Continued from Page 3 Classrooms follow social distancing guidelines, bathrooms are monitored to limit the number of students using them at one time. All individuals complete a daily health screening to be cleared for building entry, we continue to have temperature checks upon arrival, and we limit exposure to the amount of in-person contact by keeping students in classrooms and limiting movement in the school building. We have increased the number of opportunities for handwashing and hand sanitizing and we leave common area doors open to minimize contact on common surfaces. We have staircases designated for up and down to keep classes from passing one another. The custodial staff has increased the number of times they're wiping down common surfaces in addition to nightly disinfecting of the school building.” Welsome believes having

students back in the building will have positive effects. “We believe that there are so many benefits to in-person learning,” she said. “In-person learning environments are designed to limit distractions and enable students to focus on their teachers and learning. In-person learning enables students to interact in a more organic and natural manner. Conversations and discussions flow easier, and students are able to interact with one another and their teachers more naturally. In-person learning allows for more social interaction. Teachers are able to provide feedback in real-time.” Upon return, students will be subjected to random weekly coronavirus testing. Those who opted for remote learning will continue to learn remotely. For the time being, high schools remain fully remote. The ultimate goal remains: to get through the rest of the school year and through the pandemic, safely. There’s no doubt, Rockaway’s Got Talent and we like to put the spotlight on peninsula shutterbugs. As we’ve done in years past, The Top 30 photos selected are made poster-size and put on display on the boardwalk. And some honorable mentions get placed at the ferry dock. The winning photographer wins a $500 Grand Prize, a cover feature on the paper and everlasting bragging rights. Last year, Theresa Racine took home the top prize for her photo of a surfer walking along a sunset-hued beach. You don’t have to be a professional, you just have to take a great photo! Ok, now the IMPORTANT STUFF: Deadline: Friday, April 16.

This year we’re changing things up a little. There will be no categories. You can submit a photo of your adorable pet, but it will compete against sunsets, parades, wildlife, surfers, you name it. You are allowed to submit up to FOUR (4) photos. They must be high resolution (some of those phone photos just don’t cut it) and the photos must be of or taken on the Rockaway peninsula or Broad Channel or on the ferry or from the ferry. This is The Rockaway Times Photo Contest and we’re sure your vacation photos are great but we want to keep it local. You must submit your name (or the name of the photographer) and, please know that The Rockaway Times may use any of the photos as we see fit (in the paper, and/or Summer Guide, Facebook, etc). District 31 Race To Be A Ranked Choice Voting Test By Katie McFadden

Attention District 31 voters. You are wanted at your nearest voting booth to cast your ballot for your next City Council member! But pay attention, with ranked choice voting in the works, this ballot may look a bit different. With early voting now open at the Rockaway YMCA and election day set for the special election for City Council District 31, those on the east end of the peninsula and other parts of southern Queens, are getting to experience ranked voice voting for the very first time. Another City Council election in Queens District 24 gave some New Yorkers the first taste of ranked choice voting but with low voter turnout and incumbent, Jim Gennaro, in the race, it wasn’t much of a test. Gennaro earned more than 50% of the vote needed to win the race, so the ranked choice system didn’t come into play, but with no incumbent in the running and nine candidates to choose from, ranked choice voting may have a bigger impact in District 31’s race to fill the role that now Queens Borough President Donovan Richard vacated in December. Ranked choice voting, passed in a 2019 ballot measure, is being implemented for the first time in New York City primary and special elections this year for offices such as Mayor, Public Advocate, Comptroller, Borough President, and City Council. How does it work? Instead of selecting one candidate, voters will have a chance to select up to five by ranking them by preference from first to fifth. Voters don’t have to utilize the ranked choice option and can select their top candidate, but there are benefits to filling out the other bubbles. If one candidate receives more than 50% of the total vote, they will be declared the winner. But if not, counting will continue in rounds and candidates with the fewest votes are eliminated in each round. If your top choice is eliminated, your vote goes to the next highest ranked candi-

date on your ballot. This process is repeated until there are only two candidates left and the candidate with the most votes is declared the winner. With nine candidates to choose from in the City Council District 31 race, ranked choice voting may play a bigger role as candidates are less likely to obtain the 50% needed to win the race. Each of the nine candidates are hoping for a chance to represent the communities of Arverne, Brookville, Edgemere, Far Rockaway, Laurelton, Rosedale and Springfield Gardens. The candidates on the ballot include LaToya Benjamin, Selvena Brooks-Powers, Latanya Collins, Sherwyn James, Nicole Lee, Nancy Martinez, Pesach Osina Shawn Rux and Manny Silva. At a recent virtual forum sponsored by Common Cause, Rank the Vote NYC and Disability Rights New York, six of the nine candidates were on hand to introduce themselves and discuss ranked choice voting. As Dr. Shawn Rux said, “Ranked choice voting has made it that we work together. You know, campaigns are deliberating on a level that I don't think NYC has seen before, and I believe it levels the playing field.” Pesach Osina said he believes it creates a friendlier atmosphere. “The one thing with RCV, I would say it's allowing myself as a candidate to help build the bridges of all the other communities out there, whereas in other races you might say someone got an endorsement from this specific Democratic organization, you would throw them under the bus and couldn't have outreach from them again. It creates unity.” Yet, after February 23, there will only be one winner. Currently, among the top candidates are Selvena Brooks-Powers and Pesach Osina. this year (at least officially) and that throws off our sense of seasons. The parade marks (unofficially) the end of winter/the beginning of spring. Before we know it, Memorial Day will be here and it’s certain to be better than last year. Cuomo said his team should have provided “more information” but they were in “the middle of hell.” Well, he did find time to write a book. A bit of déjà vu: A few years ago, Cuomo was subject to a corruption probe by U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara. The governor's office was accused of interfering with and restricting the investigation which was part of the Moreland Commission. This time many top officials at the New

Minor was elected chief in 1974 and was known for his decision to paint the fleet yellow to give it more visibility. A memorial service was held at St. Camillus on Tuesday.

Robby Schwach of Councilman Eric Ulrich’s office has been hard at work, tracking down the details for each Rockaway zip code. We are sharing this info each week. Schwach noted that since New Year’s Day, 2,939 residents of Rockaway and Broad Channel have tested positive for COVID-19. Since March of 2020, 638 residents of Rockaway and Broad Channel have died of COVID-19. The latest info represents changes between 02/07/202102/15/2021. A Train Stabbing Suspect Apprehended The A train turned into a crime scene on Saturday after four separate stabbing incidents left two dead. The suspect has since been arrested. Between the hours of 11 p.m. on Friday, February 12 and 1:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, four people were stabbed on different A trains. Officers were first called to the scene at around 11:20 p.m. when a man was discovered fatally stabbed on the train stopped at Mott Avenue in Far Rockaway. The unidentified man, pronounced dead at the scene, had stab wounds to his neck and torso and was laying sprawled across a seat on the train when he was discovered. Later that night, a 44-year-old woman, Claudine Roberts, was found stabbed dead, laying under a bench on another A train stopped at West 207th Street in Inwood. Two other stabbings of a

43-year-old and a 67-year-old occurred at the West 181st Street station, but these stabbings were not fatal. One of the victims was able to give a description of the suspect to police. Most of the victims were homeless. The NYPD quickly deployed 500 additional officers to the subway system in the hours after the events. Within 24 hours of the incidents, the NYPD had nabbed the suspect. Police apprehended 21-year-old Rigoberto Lopez, who was wearing the same blood splattered clothing and shoes as seen on surveillance video and had the blood-covered knife on his person. Lopez is believed to be homeless as his last known address was a shelter in Brooklyn. On Sunday, February 14, Lopez was charged with murder and attempted murder and he is being held without bail.

Love Was In the Bear

Leave it to the Little North Pole to share the love, even when it’s not Christmas. This time the home was decked out in hearts for their Adopt a Bear event, as new bear owners left with full hearts and Joe Mure and Jodi Tucci’s garage was left full of goods for the St. Camillus food pantry. On Valentine’s Day, Sunday, February 14, cars lined up along Neponsit Avenue to adopt a special bear born

right at the Little North Pole on Christmas 2019. In exchange for a bear, folks were asked to bring a $10 donation as well as non-perishable food items to help support St. Camillus’ weekly food pantry. By the end of the event, several hundred cuddly pink and brown teddy bears had new homes, more than $4,000 was raised to help stock the pantry for weeks to come and the Mure’s garage was packed with food donations, ready to be delivered to the church. “I think it was very successful,” Mure said of the event. While Sunday was the main event, buzz around the bears spread on social media in the week before, so the cupid squad had been delivering bears all week, and Tucci, a schoolteacher, had adopted out as many as 200 bears to her students and coworkers before Sunday.

“It started out as a huge success. Once we announced it, we had the cupid squad out delivering bears all week long and we’ve collected a nice amount of money to buy some extra food and continue to help out the food pantry,” Mure said. While the home at 144-03 Neponsit Avenue is known to transform into the Little North Pole each holiday season, Mure wanted to continue to spread that good cheer during a continuously difficult time as the coronavirus pandemic has left many out of work and in need of a little help. With that in mind, the event itself was designed as a drive-by event and everyone who attended was asked to wear masks. “We understand Covid-19 is still here and interrupting a lot of what we do, so we came up with a way to do this to help the kids and help some people in the community,” he said.

“I thought Valentine’s Day was a beautiful day for love and a beautiful day to get together,” Mure said. That love was felt in each child’s heart as they took home a bear complete with its own birth certificate and name. Some also used it as an opportunity to spread the love even further. During the event, a little boy made a donation for a bear, told his little sister to close his eyes, and ran over to her, surprising her with her new sweetheart bear, which she embraced as her face beamed with an ear-to-ear smile. Joe Featherston, director for the Special Olympics Program at St. Camillus, will utilize the monetary donations to purchase supplies for the food pantry for several weeks. The food pantry is open on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon at St. Camillus (99-15 Rockaway Beach Blvd.)

Kimo’s Comes Back Saturday By Katie McFadden

Kimo’s is coming back! After a fire damaged Rockaway Beach’s beloved Mediterranean restaurant in October, owners Mike Adil and Javed Rambaran are getting ready to reopen their doors on Saturday, February 20. “I’m excited. I can’t wait to see my customers again,” chef Mike Adil said in a newly revamped Kimo’s as he prepared to open this weekend. The restaurant that serves Mediterranean cuisine has been closed for nearly four months after an electrical fire broke out in the back kitchen after the restaurant closed for the day on October 28, 2020. With the FDNY right next door, the fire was quickly extinguished but the damage had been done. At the time, Rambaran called it “a total loss.” But there was never a point where the business partners decided to call it quits, even after insurance fell through. Instead, they decided to rebuild and now Kimo’s is about the reopen “better than before,” Adil says. Almost everything about Kimo’s is new. The back prep kitchen, where the fire broke out, has been replaced. The walls have been newly sheetrocked and painted. Even the storefront has a slightly new appearance with a new sign that simply says “Kimo’s,” rather than “Kimo’s Kitchen,” with an addition that sums up what you get when you order, “Fresh Simple Authentic Mediterranean.” But customers know that chef Adil and his family give it that little something extra. “I give good food with good heart and love,” he said. That love has gone into a brand-new menu, which will debut when the restaurant reopens on Saturday. Adil, whose mother is from Greece and father is from Egypt, has incorporated more into the restaurant to pay homage to both cultures. The newly-painted walls are decorated with scenery and posters from both Egypt and Greece and the menu will speak a language that anyone can understand—good food.

With the reopening, Adil took the opportunity to make some changes to the old menu. “I think some of the Egyptian options, people weren’t so familiar with. So I figured, let’s make it easy and more familiar for people,” he said. To do so, he has added even more Greek-inspired dishes into the menu such as chicken avgolemono soup, entrees such as braised lamb shank, Greek moussaka and Greek pastitsio, as well as sides like lemon potatoes. However, many of the Egyptian delicacies such as Egyptian falafels and breakfast favorite, shashuka, remain. Adil has also expanded the breakfast menu to include a selection of Mediterranean omelets, bowls, specialty toasts and even a Greek favorite, spanakopita. And of course, the basics of the old menu, such as the pitas, bowls and the Kimo’s

Fat Boy, a pita stuffed with a choice of protein, French fries and white sauce, will all return. The bottom of the menu also features a special new addition that won’t fill bellies but may fill hearts. “We support, appreciate and are proud to serve our first responders and our communities,” a note at the bottom of the new menu reads. For the support from the community and from the quick actions of the firefighters and police next door, Adil wanted to add a special note of acknowledgement. “Without these guys,” Adil said, pointing toward the neighboring firehouse and precinct, “who knows what would’ve happened. They rushed to the place and they saved it and I will never forget that. I appreciate it, so I wrote something to show that appreciation.” Adil would also like to show

appreciation to those who supported him by paying it forward. Adil has created a line of Kimo’s gear including masks, t-shirts, hats and tote bags with the Kimo’s logo on it, that he hopes to sell when the restaurant reopens, but it isn’t to make a profit. “After the fire, the community asked if I needed a GoFundMe and everyone came forward wanting to support it, but I turned it down and I don’t want the community to think I’m rejecting them. I thought about doing something beneficial for the community in our name to show our appreciation. We want to sell this stuff and the money we make will go to a charity or to a college fund for kids who can’t afford it. I want people to know that when they buy these things, it doesn’t go to us, but back to the community,” Adil said. While the October fire may have been a hard blow, Adil says he’s ready to put it behind him while community support helps move things forward. “It was tough, but I want to focus on the positive,” Adil said. We were really lucky. It could have been bad. But we’re good. People have good memories of this place and one thing I do is, I throw the bad things behind me. You can’t carry on more than what you carry every day. We’re just going to ignore and move on. Thank God, we’re back on our feet and we’re going to be even better than before.” Kimo’s, located at 92-16 Rockaway Beach Blvd., will have a soft opening on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Gregory Meeks and Borough President Donovan Richards. She also has the endorsement of the Queens County Democratic Party and prominent unions like 1199 SEIU and 32BJ, among others. In 2013, Osina came close to winning the election for City Council District 31, losing to Richards by just 79 votes. Osina, a Far Rockaway resident, has been involved in politics since 2009, having worked with former Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the New York State Assembly, New York City Council, and most recently as Queens Borough Director for NYC Comptroller Scott M. Stringer. In the 2013 race, Osina had heavy backing from the Orthodox Jewish community of Far Rockaway. In this race, Osina says he’s not so focused on endorsements from various groups, but rather bridging the

gaps between groups. Manny Silva, born and raised in District 31, has close connections to the role of City Council in District 31 as he served as Chief of Staff to Donovan Richards for three years. At the recent forum Silva said, “My time as chief of staff for the former council member has given me the experience to not only build relationships with every single neighborhood, but I’ve also learned about what’s important to everybody in every single neighborhood,” he said. Silva has earned the endorsement of the Queens United Independent Progressives. Nancy Martinez, a longtime Rockaway resident, has not been involved in politics, but she is a small business owner as the founder of the Rockaway Adult Social Center, which assists seniors, and the New York Career Training School, which helps New Yorkers develop skills to launch a career. Martinez has also helped connect those who need it most with healthcare and serves on the Board of Directors for the Joseph Addabbo Health-

care Center and on Community Board 14. Dr. Shawn Rux, the current Deputy Superintendent for District 29 in Queens, has not been involved in politics but has been heavily involved in making improvements to the education system. Rux had served as the principal of Middle School 53 in Far Rockaway, where he created an incentive program that helped increase attendance and reduce suspensions at the school. Rockaway resident Latanya Collins is also a big advocate for education, having worked in NYC public education for nearly 20 years. She has been designated Citywide Master Teacher of Special Education, by the NYC Department of Education and served as a leader in various NYC transformation and turnaround schools. Far Rockaway resident Nicole Lee is a single mother of a child with autism and is a strong advocate for those disabilities. She is also a small business owner, selling cosmetics for over 20 years and running a daycare center for children with disabilities.

LaToya Benjamin, the Director of Economic Development for the NYS Senate, got an early start in politics, having served as an intern for local Congressman Gregory Meeks. Earlier this year, she was elected as Queens County Judicial Delegate. Sherwyn James, an immigrant from Trinidad and Tobago, is an ordained minister in the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church and an analyst for the Department of Education. In June, he was elected as Democratic Male District Leader for the 29th Assembly District Part B Whoever wins, will not be sitting comfortably for long. This special election is meant to fill the remaining term for Donovan Richards, which ends in December 2021. After this race, the winner will have to face off once again in the Democratic Primary in June and then the general election in November. Early voting is now open through February 21. Voters will also have an opportunity to vote on election day, Tuesday, February 23 at their local polling place.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is an autoimmune disorder that manifests as a chronic, intractable activation of the intestinal immune system. There are two types of IBD – Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. These subtypes are differentiated based on disease location and microscopic findings on biopsy, although considerable overlap exists between the two subtypes. Typically, Crohn’s affects the small intestine while ulcerative colitis affects the large intestine. The peak incidence of Crohn’s disease is among patients aged 15 to 25 years, but all ages are affected. In North America, Crohn’s prevalence is between 6.3 and 23.8 per 100,000 person-years, and the incidence is increasing globally, notably among countries with increasing industrialization, air pollution, and Westernization of their diets. Examples include Brazil,

which had an annual incidence increase of 11.1% from 1988 to 2012, and Taiwan, with an annual increase of 4% from 1998 to 2008. There are multiple contributing factors including genetics, the host microbiome (types of intestinal bacteria), and environmental factors such as smoking, medications, and diet. To date more than 100 genetic markers have been identified for Crohn’s disease. Implicated genes suggest that immunoreactivity to gut bacteria is a critical component in the risk of developing Crohn’s. Interactions between genes and environment may facilitate the development of Crohn’s via damage to the intestinal lining or disruption of immune defenses, both of which may increase the exposure of the primed immune system to intestinal bacteria. Smoking is a proven risk factor for development of Crohn’s, disease flares, and the need for surgery. Often, symptoms are present for years before the diagnosis is confirmed. Cardinal symptoms of Crohn’s include fatigue, fever,

abdominal pain, diarrhea, and weight loss. Rectal bleeding is less common in Crohn’s, unless the distal large intestine is involved, which is rare in Crohn’s but common in ulcerative colitis. Symptoms can fluctuate over time and can be mistaken for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). About 20% of patients present with complications of Crohn’s, including intestinal strictures (severe narrowing of the lumen [inside] of the bowel), abscesses, or fistulas (abnormal connections between organs, including the skin). Many Crohn’s patients have signs of anemia, iron deficiency, low Vitamin D levels, and elevated markers of inflammation, including C-reactive protein, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), and fecal calprotectin. Fecal calprotectin is the most sensitive screening test for Crohn’s disease. Manifestations of Crohn’s outside of the intestines are common and include arthritis, sacroiliitis, rashes, eye inflammations, and mouth ulcers. Medical therapy for Crohn’s disease, like the treatment of all autoimmune disorders, is based on

suppressing an overly active immune system. There are two stages of treatment – induction and maintenance. The mainstay of the induction phase is steroids to achieve symptom control. Once disease suppression has occurred (usually after a few months), maintenance therapy is given and is usually lifelong. Maintenance avoids steroids and until recently relied on immune system modulators like azathioprine, 6-mercaptopurine, and methotrexate, however these therapies can have long term side effects such as causing secondary cancers such as leukemia decades later. Thankfully, research has opened up new, less harmful therapies including biological agents and antibodies. In all cases, the patient must be tested for latent diseases that may activate once the immune system is suppressed, for example tuberculosis and hepatitis B. Directions: In a large skillet over medium high heat, heat the oil. Season cutlets with salt and pepper. Cook until golden brown, approximately 6 minutes per side. Remove to a plate. Pork Caprese Add balsamic vinegar and garlic and cook for a minute. By Sharon Feldman Add the tomatoes and season with salt. Let simmer until Ingredients: 1 pound boneless center cut soft approximately 5-7 minthinly sliced pork chops (4 pieces) utes. Stir in the basil. Return the pork to pan and 1 tablespoon olive oil nestle in the tomatoes. Romance Scams Up Due to COVID In an online romance scam, a fraudster seeks to take advantage of a victim looking for love on a dating or social networking website by pretending to want a romantic relationship. The scammer’s goal is to obtain access to the victim’s financial or personal information and steal their money. While this year has been an especially bountiful one for romance scammers, as COVID has enabled them to prey on people’s loneliness and isolation to con them in greater numbers than in previous years, this scam is typically prevalent this time of year.

Increased isolation brought about by lockdowns, the need to quarantine, and social distancing has resulted in more people using the internet to look for love. Romance scams were way up in 2020 compared to 2019: the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center received approximately 23,800 complaints for 2020 compared to approximately 19,500 for 2109, an increase of over 20%. 2020 financial losses amounted to approximately $605 million; 2019 losses were over $475 million. Many victims are too embarrassed and humiliat-

ed to file a complaint so actual losses are likely higher. According to the FTC, a 2019 scam was the costliest reported, resulting in $201 million lost. Romance scams typically target older people. A scammer, often purportedly overseas for military service or business, professes their love very early on. After winning the victim’s emotions and trust, they claim to have an emergency financial crisis and then ask for money urgently. Often, they request that the money be sent in an unusual manner, such as by gift cards. The money requests escalate over time. After the victim complies, their money and “romance” are gone. Because of the manner in which funds are sent it is often very difficult to trace the money and find the scammer. To avoid falling victim to a romance scam, think before you act. Don’t rush into an online romantic relationship; as the FTC advises, slow down and talk to someone you trust before proceeding. Don’t send

Page 39 money to people you don’t know or haven’t met in person, including through intermediaries. Be cautious about sharing your personal and financial information. Keep copies of all communications. If you think you’ve become involved with a scammer, report them to local law enforcement and regulators, the relevant financial institution (like your bank or, if you paid with a gift card, the company that issued the card (such as Amazon)), the site you met the scammer on, the FBI¬¬¬¬’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (https:// www.ic3.gov), and the FTC (https://ftc.gov/complaint).¬ While many singles today meet future partners online and online dating can be a great way to meet people, predators lurk on dating and other sites. Results for the NXT Takeover Event on February 14, 2021 from the Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida: Dakota Kai/Raquel Gonzalez defeated Shotzi Blackheart/Ember Moon to capture the Dusty Rhodes Women's Tag Team Cup. Johnny Gargano defeated KUSHIDA. MSK 50 defeated GYV to capture the Dusty Rhodes Men's Tag Team Cup. Lo Shirai defeated Mercedes Martinez and Toni Storm. Finn Balor defeated Pete Dunne. The Match of the Night was Finn Balor defending the NXT Championships against Pete Dunne. This was an incredibly hard-hitting match between two of the top competitors in the wrestling world. The action was back and forth, and the storytelling was on point. I definitely en-

joy this match! In Wrestling News: Many fans have been asking about WWE Superstar Bo Dallas and if he was released from the WWE. As per Wrestling Observer Radio, Bo Dallas is still under contract with the WWE but has not been used in any storyline since October 2019. WWE Superstar Lacey Evans has reportedly announced that she is pregnant on a recent episode of Monday Night Raw. It is further reported that she will continue working with the WWE for several months. We here at Wrestle Talk extend our congratulations to Lacey. Rapper/Hip Hop Star Bow Wow has reportedly been training at the WWE Performance Center for his future schedule match and storyline with the company. But many wrestlers are taking issue with his desire to become a wrestler as Bow Wow has been taking shots at

WWE stars on Twitter. Rumors are still circulating about WWE Superstar Aleister Black with many saying that he is leaving the WWE. We have previously reported on the Aleister Black situation and at this time there's still no news on whether he is leaving or staying with the WWE. But there is news circulating that Vince McMahon is apparently not a fan of the Aleister Black character. As reported by Wrestling Inc., the WWE has decided to crack down on what their Wrestling Talent is posting on social media sites. The WWE has also created a policy where talent can be fined and penalize for mentioning third-party brands, people and charities. The question of the week comes from Jessica A. in Belle

Harbor and she asked, "What are your thoughts about the WWE using stars from the movie and music industry?" That's a great question Jessica. For me, if a certain actor or musician is brought in to help attract more viewership, then I'm fine with it as long as it's in the occasional thing.
