We Rockaway's largest selection of children's eye wear. Ray Marten was the life of the party. And the party goes on in his memory. On Sunday, Sep tember 4, Marten’s family and friends gathered to remember the big guy with Raybee Baby’s BeachBeachBash.131st was booming on Sunday as friends, family and neighbors hit the sand to remem ber the man who loved Labor Day. They donned Raybee Baby t-shirts, and enjoyed a day on the beach with food, drinks, a DJ and even a plane flying overhead with a banner reading, “Raybee Baby’s BeachMartenBash.”passed away on June 4 after a battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer at age 59. Many remember Marten for his always fun spirit, which was felt among the crowd as they cele brated his life on Sunday.

You can find beauty in many places. I find it in a body crashing to the pavement. A few years back, I moved into “The Beach House” which is directly across from the skatepark on Shorefront Parkway and Beach 91st Street. Every day, I witness something that gives me hope for the future. I witness a reminder of the beauty of the human spirit. Every skater in the park, male and female, is usually attempting a move that they have not yet mastered. They are challenging themselves to be better. Even if it means crashing down on the unforgiving cement. Over and over. I remember waking up at 3:30 a.m. and looking out the window. There was a young man out in the skate park, and I could tell he wasn’t very good, but he was out there trying. The next night I woke up again at 4 in the morning and he was out there again. Every couple of nights for a week I would see him, and I realized that he was probably embarrassed to go in the daytime and worked on it every night under the cover of darkness. For the skateboarders, all the moves that they wanted to learn six months ago, and finally achieved, is a part of them now. But it is never enough. They want to go higher, faster, more flips and twists of the skateboard. They move on to the next move and pay the price in blood, scrapes, and bruises. But it doesn’t deter them. In the 2001 movie Dogtown and Z Boys, the documentary follows the evolution of skateboarding as skating pioneers pushed the perceived limits of what can be done on a piece of wood and steel wheels. These lessons are not limited to skateboarding. Think of the evolution of skiing, from downhill racing to snowboarders and halfpipes. They fly through the air, with the greatest of ease. Think of basketball from the set shot to Doctor J to Michael. The human spirit drives us to be better, to do more. Our imaginations are our only limit. The lessons are not limited to sports either. We have rovers on Mars. The Voyager I and II are still sending us images from interstellar space 40 years after we launched them. The James Webb Space Telescope is a million miles away sending us pictures from billions of years ago and the creation of our Readinguniverse.thepapers can be discouraging. In a society that demands instant gratification, trophies for all, there is no need for improvement. But watching out my window gives me hope. For these kids, failure is unacceptable. Failure is an opportunity to grow. If you are willing to do the work and get a little scraped up in the process. Maybe it’s time to lace up my old skates.

It’s been 21 years since hijackers used planes as weapons, crashing them into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania, killing nearly 3,000 people on September 11, 2001. It’s been so long that people born that day and after will now be of legal drinking age, yet it’s a day they’ll never remember. However, on the Rockaway peninsula, one of the hardest hit communities, losing around 70 residents, it is a day that’s remembered every year around the anniversary. Ceremonies are held to ensure people “Never Forget,” and to teach that new generation what happened that day. Twenty-one years later, this year is no different. There will be several ways to honor the fallen on Sunday, September 11 and the days around it. On Saturday, September 10, Breezy Point will remember with their annual 5k Remembrance Race. This fun run starts at 10 a.m. in Roxbury and continues to the 9/11 Memorial in Breezy Point and is followed by an after party at the Breezy ballfields. The run helps fundraise for the maintenance of the Roxbury and Breezy Point 9/11 memorials. Participants can run, jog or walk. The ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m. The names of the Rockaway residents who died that day will be read as roses are placed around the park’s center compass. Aerial Acoustics will play music while Chazmond Peacock will sing. This event is made possible with the generosity of 1-800-Flowers and the DeMatteis Family.

By S. C. Samoy, RISE Operations ManagerThe South came to the North over the first two days in September. Architecture students from the University of Virginia visited RISE (Rockaway Initiative for Sustainability & Equity) as their hub for the beginning of fall semester studies. Their interest was focused on Edgemere.Ifeoma Ebo, of Creative Urban Alchemy, LLC, hosted Professor Hannah Brown and her undergrad students with a site tour of seven stops: Beach 44th Street Station | Arverne East Development Site; Beach Channel Drive | Commercial + Vehicular Spine | NYCHA Beach 41st Street Houses; Beach 43rd Street | Buyouts | Community Land Trust; Jamaica Bay Waterfront | Future Open Space; Edgemere West + USACE Coastal Protection; New Development + Future Mixed Use Corridor; Beach 35th Street Station | Arverne East. In addition to walking the neighborhood, the students had virtual lectures and workshops at RISE. Aisha McGainey, a community advocate, spoke with them to share her own lived experience, and she will work with them throughout the fallThsemester.estudents’ exercise was to identify a site (8’x20’), choose two to three found objects, and reimagine those objects being transformed into features of the public realm, which could address social, cultural, and economic justice.

The Rockaway Film Festival is back! In its fifth edition, the local film fest returns for nine days from September 17- 25, presenting 67 films from across the globe, with seven live music performances and other special events.Thisyear marks the tenth an niversary of Hurricane Sandy, a storm that left an indelible imprint on the Rockaway land scape. From the destruction came a rebirth of place and ref ormation of community that led to the making of this festival. In honor of this occasion, this year’s program begins and ends with stories set during oceantown floods and contains a se quence of films with a deep cur rent of water. Last summer, the Rockaway Film Festival took place at the brand-new open air Arverne Cin ema (72-02 Gouverneur Ave) for the first time. The Cinema will again serve as the venue for this year’s festival. Arverne Cinema was built in partnership with the Rockaway Brewing Co. as a place where people can safely gather for screenings, performances and community events. Constructed using recycled boardwalk planks from the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, it’s the first cinema space Rockaway residents have enjoyed in more than 20 years. This year’s festival has a little something for everyone. Among the highlights are the New York premiere of A24’s God’s Crea tures on Thursday, September 22 with directors Saela Davis and Anna Rose Holmer in per son, and the North American premiere of Sam de Jong’s hy per-stylized satire Met Mes on Saturday, September 24, with the director in person. With eight shorts programs, the festival will feature guest-cu rated screenings by Melissa Lyde (Alfreda’s Cinema), Leo Gold smith, Ted Wiggin, and Jason Ev ans (This Long Century/Ecstatic Static) including rare shorts by Abbas Kiarostami and a program visualizing water's spiritual and historical importance to Black life.“The process of programming this year’s festival has felt akin to making a movie in that the en tirety of the program seeks cohe sion and flow, each program like a scene from a story. This is the first time that we have embraced a clear theme and we’re excited for all the variety and surprises within. I think there is something for everyone.” Festival co-found er, Sam Fleischner, said.

The Bishop’s in Town
This past weekend, the new bishop of Brooklyn, Reverend Bishop Robert Brennen, came to Rockaway to say Mass on the beach. This was his third visit to Rockaway, not counting a Mass he said in Breezy Point. A native of Long Island, he reminisced of his youth growing up in a beach community and shared stories about being posted in Long Beach before his other assignments took him away from the beach. From his remarks, it was clear he loves the beach. That morning the sun was peeking through misted clouds settling over the ocean with seagulls lazily flying overhead as many in the neighborhood made their way over the dunes to gather for Mass. The bishop was assisted by many in the parish who worked hard to make this Mass memorable. The folk group’s voices were crystal clear, and their harmonies pitch perfect. The hour-long celebration felt like it was only minutes long. The pastor of St. Francis de Sales, Father Bill, even told a joke not heard before, and that goes a long way to say how special this was. The bishop exuded a very genuine warmth and a gift for making a large event feel personal. He walked through the crowds prior to Mass and extended greetings to many, spending time with individuals and families, chatting and blessing as he went along. It’s nice to see a bishop so accessible, so open to the public. It certainly was refreshing.Themain topic he touched upon was focusing on the really big things in life, and specifically on faith, family, and friends; and then, let the other smaller things follow their course. Occasionally in life, we receive messages that we need to hear, and this message had special meaning; it seemed to be the right message at the right time. The aim of this column is not to preach, but to make observations about our community and to acknowledge that there are good people still in this world and they are with us now. Too often we are bombarded with negative news through the media, and it becomes easy to be cynical, afraid, or negative ourselves. That Sunday morning with the sun shining brightly, the waves gently rolling in and sand shifting softly beneath our feet, surrounded by neighbors and friends and a bishop who came to the people, a certain lightness was felt, a sense that things were ok. That we were once again one with nature, and that all faiths are bound to each other in sharing the bounty of this planet earth. We have many good and honorable people in our community, and we are blessed to live where we do. It is so nice to see friendly faces when walking around town, smiling, and saying hello, inquiring genuinely how you are. So many talented, giving individuals who work behind the scenes making everything just a little bit better, a little bit easier, a little bit nicer. So, on this Labor Day, lets salute all those that make life better, kinder, gentler, and worth living. Thank you, bishop, for being a friend to the Rockaways. Thank you for reminding us to focus on the big things, and not to let the small things get in the way, and to appreciate the beauty of the beach with all that nature affords us. It truly is a place where you will never lose the sand between your toes.

This Labor Day, Cross Bay Boulevard was filled with sever al hundred enthusiastic specta tors as Broad Channel celebrated Mardi Gras with its own colorful homemade parade. Featuring hundreds of marchers with cre ative costumes and whimsical floats, off from West 10th Road about 1:30 p.m. Turning around at West 17th Road, it headed back north to the Broad Channel Ath letic Club field. There, a post-pa rade party followed with music and food awaited, with a huge waterslide and a bounce house for the Mardikids.Gras originally started as a farewell to summer celebration in once seasonal communities like Roxbury, Breezy and Broad Channel. It became a lively sea son-long community fundrais ing drive in Broad Channel in 1908 to pay for their newly built firehouse, which is still in use today. Since then, funds raised each year have benefited alter nating Broad Channel non-profit groups. This year, hosts, the Broad Channel Fire department, raised $40,909. Under the banner “Rob bie For Mayor,” resident Rob bie O’Hare raised $7,146 of that. Each year fundraising residents vie for Mardi Gras titles. May or “could not have been a more appropriate one,” his mother, Susan O’Hare, said. “He’s gotten to know everyone in Broad Chan nel” by going door to door, run ning raffles and selling snacks at the Broad Channel summer bas ketball

Gallagher shared, “We were dev astated, but then we got Milo, and now I can’t imagine that Beulah would have been a better fit for us thanAndMilo.”since having Milo, Jonathan has gone on all sorts of adventures, including Disney World, learning how to surf, going on neighbor hood walks, and even the once feared“Whensupermarket.heknowsit’s time to go out with Milo, Jonathan puts the belt on and holds the dog’s handle. Milo has given him so much con fidence, even with him pronounc ing more words. The other day in the supermarket he was yelling, “Yellow Oreos!” Gallagher shared. According to BluePath, the dogs offer more than just physical sup port. They reduce parents’ safety concerns and help children lead fuller lives; giving families like Gallagher’s a renewed sense of hope and empowerment. “Being able to take Jonathan to Mass was a game changer for our family. Milo has given us the confi dence and security to create mem ories and experience so much joy together. BluePath and Milo have truly blessed us,” Gallagher said.
“When my older son, Nathan iel, left for school that morning, he said to Jonathan, ‘Do a really good job today, so we can have a dog.’ When the BluePath peo ple were leaving that day with the dogs, I told them what Nathaniel said. Their response? ‘You can tell Nathaniel that his brother did a great job.’ So, we kind of knew that we were going to get a dog, and just waited for next steps. This was in October of 2021,” Gallagh erAccordingsaid. to Gallagher, the en tire process took about a year. In March of this year, they received the good news that they were go ing to get a dog, and had six weeks to prepare for mandatory parent training, which Gallagher de scribed as rigorous. “The training was so much work. There were nighttime walks, early morning walks, then training all day. We went to big box stores like K-Mart and Home Depot be cause they wanted us comfortable with the dog in a variety of envi ronments. So, by the time we bring the dog home, we can handle him, and he in turn has gotten used to us. BluePath does such an unbe lievable job with training. They even did this beautiful graduation ceremony, where we got to meet the puppy raiser/former owner. We learned that Milo grew up on a farm with a lovely couple and their three children. Then he was sent to live with his foster family, an unbelievable couple, who drove Milo every day to training. Now, because of Milo, we have this ex tended family,” Gallagher said. As fate would have it, initially the family was supposed to get a lab named, Beulah, not Milo. Unfor tunately, three weeks before, after her final medical, it was deter mined that Beulah’s cataracts had advanced. They informed Gallagh er and her family about Beulah’s eye condition, and that since she couldn’t be a service dog, her fos ter family was going to adopt her.

You may have spotted an ador able little boy tethered to a hand some Yellow Labrador, walking around the neighborhood, at the beach getting surf lessons from Lo cals Surf School or even being for mally introduced by Father Jim at a Mass at St. Francis de Sales church. Meet eight-year-old Jonathan Or tega Narvaez and his BluePath au tism service dog, Milo. According to Ortega Narvaez’s mom, Jennif er Gallagher, since three-year-old Milo officially became part of their family on April 4 of this year, he has forever changed the trajectory of their lives. They went from being reluctant to take Jonathan out due to fears of him running away—to boldly embracing outdoor adven tures together as a family.

As to how Milo entered the fam ily’s lives, Gallagher said it all be gan in April 2021 after she watched a week-long autism awareness month series by NBC’s “The To day Show” broadcast journalist, Hoda“ThatKotb.day, Hoda did a segment about how life changing it was for a little autistic boy in Queens after he received a BluePath au tism service dog. I totally related because like Jonathan, this child eloped, which is frightening for parents of autistic children, and it was beautiful to see how the dog gave the family so much relief. Before we received Milo, it was eight years since we unpacked our beach cart because as soon as my boy got to the beach, he would bolt off running. “After my husband watched the segment, he said, ‘I’m totally in.’ He loves animals and came from homes with animals. As for me, I never had an animal. However, watching Hoda’s segment encour aged me to apply. One require ment was that you had to live within two hours of their facility in Hopewell Junction, which is an hour north of NYC in Dutchess County,” Gallagher said.
Founded in 2016, BluePath is a nonprofit organization that places service dogs with children official ly diagnosed with autism—totally free of charge. They provide dogs that offer safety, companionship and opportunities for independ ence. One of the dogs’ purposes is to reduce bolting tendencies, which includes wandering off, that oftentimes occurs among au tistic children. BluePath dogs are trained to be tethered to a child’s waist, anchoring the child should he/she begin to wander. On aver age, it takes $40,000 to raise and train each dog, but because raising an autism child can cost five times as much as raising a mainstream child, BluePath gives these dogs to families for free. Since its launch, BluePath has placed over 35 Lab radors and Golden Retrievers with families.According to Gallagher, Blue Path thoroughly vets the families before they go through a tough pe riod of “Duetraining.toCovid, our first interview with BluePath was through Zoom. They emphasized that this was a serious commitment because the dog has to stay here in our home and do its job, which is to be there for Jonathan,” Gallagher said. “Next, they brought three dogs out here for us to video record Jona than walking around places, like the supermarket with them, so they could assess whether an au tism service dog was an option for him. Jonathan is naturally suspi cious of everybody and everything, so the fact that he did so good that day was really amazing.

SUMMER
WHAT’S NEXT FOR REAL ESTATE AFTER LABOR DAY Labor Day marks the end of our summer season, and the beginning of the back-to-school frenzy. It typ ically marks the return of people from vacations and the end of the summer doldrums in real estate. The Rockaway market slowed up a bit this year due to higher mortgage rates. The volume of calls dimin ished but most listings which were appropriately priced did generate interest – especially in the more af fordable categories, although some expensive properties also sold. The higher mortgage rates which we now have should not stop the real estate market. Current rates are not extremely high by historical standards. Many veteran Rockaway homeowners bought their homes years ago and were not discouraged by high mortgage rates at that time. My first mortgage was at 11.5%. That mortgage lasted two years until I refinanced it at 9.5%. A lot of buyers need to buy a new home and will not be deterred by higher rates. Some buyers may have been disheart ened by the initial surprise of higher rates. However, after a fresh financial analysis many buyers will continue searching for the right home. Also, many listing prices have declined a bit, thus making some homes more affordable.September 30 is the magic date for open houses in Rockaway. When the summer parking re strictions are lifted on that date it will become easier to have visitors view our listings. Call me. Love, Robin.

The summer season has mixed effects on the Rockaway real estate market. On the one hand, we are a beachfront community and the draw of the summer activities does bring people here for: beaches, swimming, cycling, running, surfing, organized teams for kids and adults (although the pandemic may crimp some of these this year; thankfully the “end” is in sight). On the other hand, some sellers are reluctant to sell during the summer because they enjoy the aforementioned activities and don’t want to give them up so fast! It can be harder to sell real estate during the summer due to vacations by buyers and sellers alike. Summer activities can also occupy people instead of allowing them to focus on the home sale process. The spring season has been generally good for our real estate market. There has been action across the board in all price categories with an emphasis on the range below $1 million (approx). Prices have firmed up within the framework of recent comparable sales and in some cases are creeping higher. Inventory levels remain very low. Call me, Love, Robin. 718-490-9463

We have arrived in the most breathtaking month of the year. Thank you for the most magnificent summer. As we move slowly into the next season, let us be grateful for this moment. For those who have lost your loved ones, please know all year long our thoughts are with you. Grieve for as long as you need. You will know when to let go and move forward slowly. We may not know your pain, but we have empathy for you and your loved ones.

As I write this column, I am reminded that 9/11 is this Sunday. It will be a weekend of remembering and honoring all those who have passed away on this terrible day. We will never forget and always pay our respects for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. The Richie Allen Surf Tournament will be on 9/18 and Richie’s family and friends will show up to remember and keep Richie’s memory alive. Thank you to Gail Allen and her family for turning a terrible tragedy into a family day of surf competition for children. We are all grateful for your strength and will power to create such a wonderful fundraiser in honor of Richie. Each year, time goes by too fast. I am in awe of where we live and how our small community is so unique and charming. I am not born and raised in Rockaway, but I have been here for over 40 years, so I feel like a local. We live for the summer but then we appreciate when the visitors leave the beaches and once again, we have our quiet piece of paradise to ourselves. The big surf will come in September and the locals will embrace the challenge of riding the waves. This is what the surfers have waited for all summer long.Present moment is alive and well in my world. As you wake up to this day perhaps you could welcome the changes and acknowledge the bounty of blessings arriving at your door. Transitions are tough and yet necessary in the flow of life. The obstacles are often the path itself. We view changes in life as difficult however it is resisting the changes that causes our pain and suffering. With time we learn not to be afraid of choosing a different path. At our studio, Ocean Bliss Yoga, we chose the theme of non-attachment (Aparigraha) and the pose of the month as child’s pose. I have found both to be extremely powerful when wanting to let go of emotions, physical pains, and attachments. It is a lesson on taking only what we need, keeping only what serves us in the moment, and to let go when the time is right. “Let your concern be with the action alone, and never with the fruits of action. Do not let the results of your action be your motive, and do not be attached to inaction.”Bhagavad Gita. It is truly not the destination but rather the journey itself. We should never concern ourselves with the outcome of a situation but rather concern ourselves with what we are actually doing right now. Present moment is a blissful place to be, you leave the past behind and the future is not here. May you know your worth. You are enough. You have all that you need right here, right now. Be well. Be happy.

Finger flexion occurs when the finger muscles located in the fore arm contract, pulling the tendons (called flexor tendons) attached to the fingers. These tendons run through pulleys attached to each finger bone. Finger extension is controlled by extensor tendons on the other side of the finger. Some times, a flexor tendon may enlarge causing it to get stuck at a pulley, making the finger stuck in flexion. This is called a trigger finger and is commonly seen in people with diabetes. Typically, only the distal phalanx (finger tip) is involved. It can be differentiated from Dupy tren’s contracture as Dupytren’s in volves the whole finger plus a thick ened cord-like tendon can be felt in the palm. Treatment is usually occu pational therapy. Steroid injections do not work, and surgery is often re quired to release the tendon.
De Quervain’s tenosynovitis, aka gamer’s thumb, involves pain and swelling of the radial, or thumb side, of the wrist. The pain is worsened by thumb movement. It occurs because of thickening and degeneration of the first dorsal extensor tendon sheath. This extensor tendon pulls the thumb upward, as you would see in an “OK” emoji. The causes of this condition are not fully known, however there is a strong link to pregnancy and cer tain types of manual work. Steroid in jections are often curative, however improvement may be slow and mul tiple injections may be needed. Finally, there is thumb carpomet acarpal (CMC) joint osteoarthritis. Commonly seen in women older than 50 years, it causes chronic pain and degeneration at the base of the thumb, eventually leading to subluxation (dislocation) of the thumb. Other than being associ ated with menopause, the cause is unclear. Non-operative measures including splinting and steroid in jections may help, but surgery to stabilize the thumb is often needed. Questions and comments may be sent to editor@rockawaytimes.com.

Our hands, especially our opposa ble thumbs, make us nearly unique among the species that inhabit this planet. Not surprisingly then, com plaints of hand pain or restriction of finger motion are among the most common complaints in primary care medicine. Let’s look at a few of the common hand complaints. These in clude carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), trigger finger, de Quervain teno synovitis, and thumb basilar joint arthritis. The hand has two nerves, the median and the ulnar nerves. The median nerve provides sensa tion from the thumb to the thumb side of the fourth, or ring finger. It is also responsible for the motor func tion of the arm and hand. In CTS, the median nerve is compressed under the transverse carpal ligament of the wrist, which runs across the wrist at about the skin crease between arm and hand. Swelling of this ligament can compress the median nerve and if untreated, eventually cause death of the nerve and loss of use of the hand. CTS symptoms include pain and numbness of the hands and fingers and weakness of the hand. If CTS has been present for a while, at rophy (muscle wasting) may be seen in the dorsal muscles (back of the hand) and thenar eminence (muscu lar mound at the base of the thumb). Rest and steroid injections are pre scribed for CTS, however many pa tients require surgical release of the carpal ligament. CTS has been as sociated with repetitive hand move ment like keyboards and mouses.

“When you meet one person with Autism, you’ve met one person with Autism.” - Dr. Stephen Shore, autistic professor of special education at Adelphi University. In response to my last column, in which I discussed if public events should be censored according to the varying levels of autism, a Rockaway Times reader emailed the following question—What is severe autism? Admittedly, I oftentimes bristle at this question. When I meet “high-functioning” individuals on the spectrum, I become star struck at their abilities. For example, if they are attending college, is an amazing artist or can read a book. Then, I can’t help but wonder about my daughter. Soanirina is 13 years old, nonverbal, needs assistance with daily living skills, and I’m truly unsure if she could spell the shortened three-letter abbreviation of her name—S-O-A. Hence, when words pop up like, “low-functioning,” or “severely autistic,” I simultaneously tear up and become defensive. Media stereotypes of autistics as savants in movies such as “Rain Man,” or the television series, “The Good Doctor” make me wonder—what about my Soa? Not all autistics are savants. According to the SSM Health Treffert Center, in fact only one in 10 autistic persons have any savant abilities, let alone the prodigious skills of Dustin Hoffman’s RaymondAccordingBabbitt.to the National Council on Severe Autism (NCSA): “As with many issues in autism, there is no scientifically precise definition for what constitutes ‘severe.’ We consider this term to encompass those who satisfy the diagnostic criteria of the DSM-5 (American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical latest Manual of Mental Disorders), and who, by virtue of any combination of cognitive and functional impairments, require continuous or near-continuous lifelong services, supports, and supervision. Individuals in this category are often nonverbal or have limited use of language, have intellectual impairment, and, in a subset, exhibit challenging behaviors such as elopement, aggression, self-injury, and/or property destruction that interfere with safety and well-being.” Organizations such as NCSA believe severely autistic individuals with greater needs and lesser functioning abilities are not getting the level of help they truly need due to a lack of resources, as well as underrepresentation in research, and many other problems. They are calling for the recognition of severe autism in the DSM.

I agree that autistics with more challenges should get more support. Soa definitely needs all the help that she can get to live a functionally fulfilling life. However, as my granny oftentimes says, “We see today, but we don’t see tomorrow.” Today, my daughter may not speak, but she can ice skate, rollerblade, skateboard and snowboard, so maybe she too is a savant like Raymond Babbitt, except in her case—with boardsports. And maybe tomorrow, (as I dream every night), that I will wake up to her cursing me out like a sailor with an explicitly rich vocabulary. Soa, forgive me for comparing you to others. You are beautiful. You are smart. You are amazing as God designed you to be. I’m blessed to be your mummy.Rockaway Beach Autism Families’ next family support group meeting is Thursday, September 22, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th Street). CM PUNK WITH BACKSTAGE HEAT!
This is a fast-developing news story with numerous sources that were on the scene describing the whole situation as chaotic and uncontrollable. Many AEW Stars have come forward to voice their displeasure with CM Punk's comments and attitude. They feel CM Punk was very disrespectful towards The Young Bucks and other talent. Punk made reference to The Young Bucks "spreading lies about him and calling them irresponsible and they couldn't manage a Target Store." So, far there hasn't been any news regarding this incident from the owner of AEW Tony Khan but we will keep you posted as this story develops. The Question of the Week comes from Jarell M. in Far Rockaway, and he asked "When is the Undertaker coming back? I want to see him do another run with the WWE!" Ok, Jarell, unfortunately at this time all I can say is that the Undertaker is officially retired, although he did say during his Hall of Fame speech "Never Say Never," referencing a potential return. But at this time, I don't see a future return to the WWE to work a storyline. I do possibly see him making a return for a Wrestlemania in the future. Thank you for the question! Keep sending those questions in to eavil183@yahoo.com and have a good weekend!

This past weekend, All Elite Wrestling held their Live PPV "All Out" and the biggest noise to come out from that night was from the AEW World Champion CM Punk. Apparently, Punk caused quite a huge stir when he went on a rant, on numerous AEW Roster members which included Adam Page and The Elite and Colt Cabana. CM Punk's comments led into a physical altercation between Punk and The Young Bucks. The Young Bucks, who are onscreen talents for the company and are also executive vice presidents. In a report from the Wrestling Observer, it's alleged that CM Punk swung his fist against Matt Jackson of the Young Bucks and during the altercation, former wrestler Ace Steel allegedly hit Nick Jackson from the Young Bucks in the eye. The report goes on to further state that Ace Steel allegedly bit and pulled the hair of AEW Superstar Kenny Omega. Ace Steel is known as CM Punk's Trainer and close friend. This has led to reported rumors, that The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega were extremely upset about CM Punk's comments and actions and that they may have threatened to leave the company.
