The Rockhampton Grammar School is Queensland’s largest boarding school. Boarders comprise more than a third of secondary school student enrolment and boarding has formed the core of the School since its founding in 1881.

The School provides full accommodation for students from Years 7 to 12. Boarders share air-conditioned accommodation with live-in supervisors who are on hand 24 hours a day to make sure your child has everything he or she needs and is supported through personal and academic challenges. As a parent, you will always be warmly received and be kept up-to-date with how your child is doing. Male and female students live in separate buildings, which are serviced daily by professional cleaners. Every boarding house has spacious common rooms and entertainment areas, as well as washrooms, laundries and kitchens. Students reside in two-person or four-person rooms. Individual rooms are arranged for Year 12 students, who are studying for their final examinations and need their own space. Boarders come from many different regions of Queensland, Australia and overseas. Boarding life will provide your child with opportunities to befriend Australian children of the same age. This will improve their English language ability and help them acquire a deep understanding of Western etiquette and Australian culture. The School and dormitory buildings are covered by a wireless network (WIFI) which students can use for instant messaging, phone and video conversation with their families. Fresh and nutritious meals are provided in the dining hall by our own fulltime caterers. The School can also cater to children with special dietary requirements. The menu is different each day. Options at a typical breakfast might include bread, fresh fruit, spaghetti, baked beans, boiled eggs, fried mushrooms, tomatoes, bacon, pancakes, juice, milk, tea and coffee.
