One of our Reception children put it very well when he said of his teacher, “I love Mrs Lake because she makes it easy to learn things so I can do them on my own.” Throughout their time here, one of the things that we try and instil in the children is that it is important to accept and appreciate that life has its ups and downs and indeed life is richer if everything is not seamless and without the requirement to work at things. This is something which is
often a focus of our leadership programme where resilience and self-belief are encouraged. Of course, resilience must not come at the expense of children knowing that they are able to talk to a teacher, a parent or friend if they are worried about something and this is encouraged at all times with pastoral prefects, go-to members of staff and an independent listener, all available for children to turn to. Dorset House School is a co-educational Pre-Prep and Prep school for children from 4 – 13 years of age (Reception to Year 8).
