EDITOR’S LETTER
Being born and raised in Colorado, I found my love for the Rockies in a state that holds so many beautiful places. Through the years, I’ve been lucky enough to travel to many of the other states across the Rockies and have found a certain charm to all of them. Something about the fresh air blowing through the evergreens, or the sand blowing across the Southwest deserts, and the aqua blue lakes in the north, I couldn’t think of a better place to say “I do!” than the Rockies. As I begin to plan my own Rocky Mountain wedding using RMB, I find myself in awe of the talented local vendors in each pocket of the Rocky Mountain region. I hope that within these pages you will find all the inspiration and tips you need to make your day everything you want it to be. We’ve scouted the best of the best in your area to provide you trusted local vendors. Happy planning! visit page 16 to see madison and nelson’s wedding!

Plan the perfect Colorado Springs trip with these favorite spots in the area. Like all of Colorado, the weather can change in the blink of an eye. Planning ahead can make all of the difference for your guests and you.

S E A S O N A L W E AT H E R A mild climate and 300 days of sunshine a year are two things that make Colorado the perfect place for a Rocky Mountain wedding. January is the driest month of the year, which is perfect for those looking for a winter wonderland wedding in Colorado Springs. June to September are the warmest and clearest months of the year, with temperatures ranging from 58ºF to 84ºF. When planning your big day, take into consideration that summer in Colorado means afternoon rain showers.

W H AT T O P A C K Take the guessing out of what to pack by providing information on your wedding website about local activities, weather and wedding attire for your guests. Don’t forget to add an umbrella, rain jacket or sunscreen for the summer months. Colorado weather is ever-changing, so ask guests to pack for weather they wouldn’t anticipate.
ACTIVITIES The stunning scenery in Colorado Springs means there are plenty of opportunities to spend time outdoors. Take the Cog Railway, Pikes Peak highway or travel on foot to get to Pikes Peak or Garden of the Gods for some of the most beautiful Colorado Springs’ views. The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is built into the side of a mountain, which makes it a unique experience for those out of town guests with little ones in tow. A space that has activities to entertain any age, Ivywild School is an elementary school turned community space that’s been transformed into a hub for food, art, work and play. Enjoy great golf and luxurious spa treatments for a relaxing experience at two of the most iconic Colorado Springs properties, The Broadmoor and Garden of the Gods Resort and Club. Tip: Give your out of town guests the heads up to drink plenty of water and take it easy for a day or two to acclimate to the altitude.

Caroline + William the broadmoor
Caroline and William grew up together and attended middle school, high school and college together. Despite knowing each other for what felt like their whole lives, it wasn’t until after college that they reconnected and started dating. Caroline and William were getting ready to walk their dog, Bodie, like any other Sunday. Little did Caroline know, this would be a walk to remember. William dropped to one knee, presented the engagement ring and Caroline said yes!

RAINY SKIES
Heavy rainfall during the ceremony ended up being the highlight of the day. It made for some of Caroline and William’s favorite photos and created the most calming ambience throughout the ceremony. They were also fortunate enough to have a long time family friend officiate the wedding, providing a personal perspective on their future together.

Ali + David garden of the gods
Ali was in a local coffee shop, Poets Coffee, when David came in, walked over to Ali and started a conversation. The rest is history! Rose petals and a candle lit walkway welcomed Ali home from work one Tuesday evening. Following the trail and sound of “Nothing Can Change this Love” by Sam Cooke, their song, into the house, Ali found David on one knee asking him to marry her. Ali and David planned a Garden of the Gods elopement. They booked their flights from Tennessee, found a condo, picked a photographer and showed up!

Stephanie + Elliott u t e va l l e y pa r k
Stephanie and Elliott met through mutual friends in college, at a house party. They hung out a few more times after that house party with groups of friends and during one of the times before others had arrived, Stephanie told Elliott she was really interested in him. They went out that week!

THE PROPOSAL
They were touring the UK and while in Oxford, decided to go for a hike out in the countryside. Elliott had never been to the UK, so he had to somewhat wing the proposal location. While on the hike, they came to the top of a hill that had a great view, and that’s when Elliott knew they had found the perfect proposal spot. Stephanie had no idea Elliott was going to propose on this trip and was totally caught off guard! She said yes and they finished the rest of their UK tour as a very excited engaged couple.

Q & A with
Amber Mustain By: Erin Mitschele
What is your favorite part of the job? Creating-I love coming up with unique color palettes and working with my hands to create something beautiful.
Do you have a favorite tool of the trade? Not really :) Nothing too exciting!
Where do you come up with your ideas? I love texture and color, so nature is my biggest inspiration.
What is one thing you wish you could educate your clients on? I wish they knew how much time was spent on their day-consulation, proposal, conceptual drawings or creating the designs, recipes, ordering, processing, designing, set-up, tear-down and clean-up. Also, that using more greenery doesn’t necessarily mean less expensive.
What is your best hidden talent?

Which job would you like to try doing for a day? I would love to work at Floret Flower!! I love gardening and that would be the ultimate day in the garden!
Worst wedding snafu? We were setting up a wedding at the Broadmoor and the arch we were working on hadn’t been anchored yet. A hail storm was headed our way and a huge gust of wind blew the arch over on it’s “face” smashing the flowers. It had fallen directly over my business partner as she walked through it. We lifted it up, trying not to cry, and fixed it quickly. Five minutes later the coordinator came out and asked how everything was going? We smiled and said great! Haha!
What is your biggest indulgence? I love to buy indoor and outdoor plants-I would buy them all the time if I had more space for them.
What are you saving up to buy? We would love to be able to live on a small farm. We need to save lots of pennies for that, but hopefully one day.
What do you do in the off season? I love being with my kids and husband. We are usually at my oldest daughter’s sporting events. We love to watch her play basketball and soccer.

Having a professional photographer on hand to capture the moment you say “yes” gives you a keepsake to cherish for a lifetime.
This is a great time to show off your partner as well as your new ring. Cheers, you have officially been upgraded to fiancé.
While the bling is the number one focus of a #ringselfie, the background view is also important. Try a few different angles to get the ultimate shine from your bling.
To cast those stunning prisms all around, you need bright direct light. Move your fingers back and forth to create these dashing rainbows.
Add a filter from VSCO or Instagram to brighten any shadows and keep the focus on your ring. Our favs are Lightroom, KiraKira+ and Instasize!
