EDITOR’S LETTER
Being born and raised in Colorado, I found my love for the Rockies in a state that holds so many beautiful places. Through the years, I’ve been lucky enough to travel to many of the other states across the Rockies and have found a certain charm to all of them. Something about the fresh air blowing through the evergreens, or the sand blowing across the Southwest deserts, and the aqua blue lakes in the north, I couldn’t think of a better place to say “I do!” than the Rockies. As I begin to plan my own Rocky Mountain wedding using RMB, I hope that within these pages you will find all the inspiration and tips you need to make your day everything you want it to be. We’ve scouted the best of the best in your area to provide you trusted local vendors. xo

DENVER 101 Plan the perfect denver trip with these favorite spots in the area. Like all of Colorado, the weather can change in the blink of an eye. Planning ahead can make all of the difference for your guests and you.
stefanie keeler
S E A S O N A L W E AT H E R With 300 days of sunshine a year, Denver shines as an ideal wedding location all year round. From May to August, the weather is warm and sunny, making it the most popular time of the year to tie the knot. If you are looking for that warm weather vibe and plenty of rays, July might be your best bet with average temps in the 80s. On the other hand, if you are wanting a cozy and cool ambiance to your day, look to January when the city is often blanketed with snow. For a more moody day, check out May and June. While there is a high chance of rain, storm clouds instantly add a dramatic feel, and they say rain on your wedding day is good luck, right?

W H AT T O P A C K Guiding guests on what to pack for your wedding can take a lot of the guesswork out of their decision. Feel free to add your wedding attire, whether it be cocktail casual or black-tie optional, to your wedding website. Here is also a great place to add little tidbits too, such as packing a shawl for the cooler months or sunglasses if you are having an outdoor summer ceremony.
ACTIVITIES Denver Union Station, an 100-year-old historic landmark, has become Denver’s newest hot spot to dine, shop and stay. Located in LoDo, Lower Downtown, Union Station acts as the hub to downtown with easy access to the entire city. Grab a craft cocktail at The Copper Lounge and a bite to eat at Mercantile Dining & Provisions before checking in to The Crawford Hotel for the night. Check out a concert at one of the best outdoor venues in the country, Red Rocks Amphitheater. Located in the foothills of Morrison, only 10 miles from downtown, Red Rocks stands as not only the best place to see a show, but also a convenient location for easy hiking trails, yoga classes and even to catch a movie. Red Rocks is not to be missed on any trip to Denver! Take a stroll down Larimer Square, Denver’s oldest and most historic block. Located just off the 16th Street Mall, the buildings along Larimer Square are now home to an inspired mix of independent shops, chef-driven restaurants and lively bars. When the sun goes down, it also makes for a great photo op with the canopy of lights hanging above the street making it always a starry night.

Jess + Andrew t h e m av e n
After five years of dating, Jess and Andrew headed to San Francisco to celebrate Andrew’s birthday. The pair dined at their favorite Chinese spot, House of Nanking, before heading down to the bustling Pier 39. Andrew led Jess to a nice quiet spot before getting down on one knee and asking her to be his wife. Jess of course said, “Yes!,” but also insisted that Andrew get up because people were probably staring even though it turns out no one was! Jess and Andrew planned a modern, urban wedding for May 4th.

Christina + Tanner S K YLIGHT
Christina and Tanner lived at the same apartment complex and had a few run-ins that always left them wondering who was the other person. Fast forward to later that summer, Tanner saw Christina talking to the manager at their apartment complex and asked her the next day for Christina’s number. The manager shot Christina a message asking if it was okay to give him her number, which Christina happily said, “Of course!” The pair scheduled a date and have been inseparable ever since!

PERFECT PROPOSAL
Christina knew pretty quickly that she was going to marry Tanner but had no clue he was going to propose when he did. During a family getaway in Flagstaff, Arizona, Tanner’s two-year-old nephew walked out of the house holding a notebook for Christina. Inside the notebook, Tanner had carved out a holding place for the ring along with a love note, written a year prior when Tanner knew Christina was the one. He read the note to her then got down on one knee and proposed!

CITY THEY LOVE
Despite both not being from Colorado, Chistina and Tanner met in Denver and built a life together here. It was very important for the couple to get married in Denver and share the city they call home with their friends and family. They incorporated as many local features as possible into their big day to truly highlight the city they love.

Kate + Ryan u n i o n s tat i o n e n g a g e m e n t
Kate and Ryan met on Bumble and owe their friends a huge thank you for putting them up to it. The pair couldn’t be more different, yet have so many similar interests. Her Chicago sarcasm and his Texas sarcasm mesh together perfectly. The couple shared their first date at Denver’s iconic Union Station, and they knew it would be the perfect spot for their engagement session!
real beginnings
the proposal
For Kate’s birthday, the couple headed to Kate’s home of Chicago. The trip was filled with friends, paddle boating and spending time together. When Kate and Ryan were finally alone with just their dog, Ryan presented Kate with a stunning sparkling diamond flanked with green emeralds, which is Kate’s favorite color, on both sides, and they happily finished the trip as an engaged couple!

Contemporary Whimsy
Denver’s River North Art District or RiNo, located north of the Platte River, is home to one of the city’s most unique spots, The Source Hotel. Connected to The Market Hall with 25 independent food and retail vendors, The Source Hotel is abundant with local offerings along with a rooftop venue featuring panoramic views of the Denver skyline and the Rockies. Inspired by the industrial space, Gather & Grace Events brought in femenine elements of flowering branches and a pink palette to soften the venue into an ethereal scene.

introducing
Q & A with
Wedlocks Bridal Hair & Makeup By: Erin Mitschele What is your favorite part of the job? The amount of love and joy we witness. We meet some of the most incredible humans and are a part of some very intimate moments. It really is the best job in the world!
What is your favorite tool of the trade? My favorite tool would have to be a needle and thread. You can sew an updo, you can sew flowers and accessories into the hair, AND if there is ever any kind of wardrobe emergency, you are prepared!
Where do you come up with your ideas? I pull inspiration from all over the place, but mostly I get inspired by runway, high fashion, and traveling. I also love seeing how other cultures and religions do their wedding celebrations and what kind of trends and traditions they have.
What is one thing you wish you could educate your clients on? I wish more brides knew how specialized bridal is in the beauty industry. It isn’t something that a lot of hairstylist do regularly and feel confident in. As a matter of fact, only 20% of beauty professionals say they even like working in bridal, so be sure to find someone who knows what they are doing and LOVES it!
What is your favorite journey? The one I am on right now. Being a business owner has always been what I’ve been called to do, but I had no idea how much I would change as a person and how passionate I would become about the changes we want to make within our industry.
Who is your biggest industry idol? Steph Brinkeroff, hands down! She is an absolute rockstar when it comes to the bridal beauty world. I have been following her pretty much my entire career.
