Hello, again! I feel like it was just yesterday when I was sitting down with excitement and a very grateful heart writing the RMB V1 letter. I guess time flies when you’re having fun... and we did just that in 2016 creating RMB V2 for you! We were so fortunate to work with so many amazing people at some of the most iconic and breathtaking vistas in the Rockies! With each shoot and new face we met, the importance of building relationships and learning about what makes each place special became a main focus for the team. Taking the time to learn about the personality, the history and love stories each place holds made this experience of creating RMB V2 that much more meaningful. That act of taking a moment to give meaning to what we are doing inspired so many things in this issue. Throughout my professional career, I have always relied on my dad’s advice. His charisma for life, sense of humor and quick-wit has always been something I am constantly learning from. He is a firm believer in the classic hand-written note; words put to paper that take time and have meaning behind them. Growing up I thought it was silly. I mean that’s why they invented email, right? But as it always is with parents, he had it right the whole time. In this issue of RMB, you will find love letters, personal touches, and details in each wedding and styled shoot that go beyond the pretty - it touches the heart with real meaning. Love is something that should be treasured and have countless hand-written notes about. A love letter is a constant reminder that someone adores you, and took the time to tell you in writing. It’s something that you can keep forever. I hope these words I am writing touch your heart, along with everything written in RMB V2! We at RMB are so honored to help inspire your Rocky Mountain love story. We wish you happiness and a marriage filled with endless love letters. Happy planning!

The Cover Story julia park photography
“We wanted to create inspiration for an adventurous bride. A girl that spends her free time hiking in the mountains and camping by the bonfire. A girl that would take boots over heels anytime. What if she were to stay true to her real self on her wedding day? What if she put on an easy-to-wear dress, comfy boots, and even throws on her favorite hat? Her bouquet is inspired by wild flowers, the ones that the couple was admiring on their first hike together. Low maintenance, cheerful flowers just like our bride herself. She is ready for her mountaintop elopement with only closest family and friends. She is ready to promise to be forever adventurous with the one her heart loves. - Julia Park

the inspiration jasper has always had a special place in my heart. growing up i spent most of my summers camping, hiking and exploring the beauty of the area with family. when i met Serg, i was able to share the magic of jasper with him! we both love the mountains and the nature found there, so a jasper wedding was the perfect fit for us! we wanted private, untouched landscape for our wedding pictures, which led us to a helicopter adventure the day after the wedding. the pristine wilderness was a dream backdrop for our photos and made the whole wedding that much more magical!

Diana & Curtis lake lousie
the toths photo & film
Diana and Curtis met for the first time at her birthday party! Diana's friend, and Curtis' cousin, Kristin, invited him to join them at the bar where they were celebrating. The whole night she was secretly hoping he would ask her to dance, but alas the night ended and no dance. Thankfully, a few weeks later Kristin invited Diana to a tailgate bonfire Curtis was hosting at McLean Creek. That night, he asked her to dance, and they have been together ever since! Curtis planned the perfect proposal for Diana! On a snowy November weekend, he surprised her with a trip up to Emerald Lake Lodge. The first day of their trip he planned a short hike to Wapta Falls. While they were alone in the woods with the most stunning backdrop, Curtis started to get down on one knee, but Diana barely let him kneel much less start talking before she said, yes! The two planned an intimate, woodsy wedding at the Post Hotel & Spa on September 9th!

With a stunning backdrop like Lake Louise, what more do you need to have a beautiful wedding? Diana and Curtis planned a wedding that naturally highighted the beauty of the area. A color palette of white, brown and forest green was used to bring their look to life!
The Theme:
The Dress: Diana chose a lovely Rue de Seine gown
from The Bridal Boutique in Calgary! She loved every lace detail, the amazingly perfect fit and how it made her feel gorgeous on her wedding day!
The Floral: For her woodsy wedding, she chose
blooms that complimented the rich forest colors and incorporated pops of white and ivory in from the roses!
The Favorite Detail: "Curtis’ groomsmen bought
him an axe with his initials branded in the handle as a wedding gift. We ended up spontaneously using it to cut our wedding cake, which was amazing."
The Food: "We chose a sit-down dinner where
everyone had a bowl of tomato bisque soup, spinach salad with baked brie and their choice of pan-seared fillet of black cod or range-fed bison tenderloin. It was fantastic!"
Guests enjoyed a decadent log-inspired black forest cake and cupcakes for a sweet end to the night.
The Sweets:
The First Dance: The new Mr. and Mrs. danced to "When the Right One Comes Along" by Clare Bowen & Sam Palladio. They knew they wanted a country song for their first dance. This song touched Diana's heart and brought her to tears when she shared it with Curtis. They loved the song so much that they also used a strings version of the melody when Diana walked down the aisle.

Brenna + Kyle oyama
royce sihlis
Brenna and Kyle met while both playing volleyball at University in Kelowna. His calm, small town demeanor and her big city, fun attitude instantly drew them together and made them inseparable. Much of their first few years were spent geographically far away but their relationship always grew closer. They finally settled together in Calgary and were ready for the next step! On a snowy November morning, Brenna was enjoying coffee with two of her best friends, while Kyle pretended to shovel snow off the front porch. A text got her friends to send Brenna outside (in her token sweat pants and top-knot). She opened the front door to see her man down on one knee in front of their first home. He told her he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her and popped the question. With the help of Nicole Sihlis from Created Lovely Events, the two planned a stunning summer orchard wedding on August 22nd, and celebrated with all their friends and family!
52 rockymountainbride.com
Rocky Mountain Bride
real wedding
The Theme: Brenna and Kyle wanted an “outdoor
elegance” feel to their wedding day! Gatzke Orchards was the perfect location to complement their color palette of soft grey, blush, white and gold to contrast the rich greens of the space.
The Dress: “My dress was the Monaco design from Katie May. I wanted a simple dress that still had a wow factor, and her backless gowns were perfect. My mom, maid of honor, aunt and I flew to New York and we had the best say yes to the dress experience.”
The Flowers: Brenna wanted a more undone, natural
look when it came to her wedding floral. She wanted neutral colors, so they went with whites, some blush and LOTS of lush greenery to blend with the orchard. A variety of roses, dahlias, astilbe, lisianthus and ranunculus were used to create the look. For the dinner tables, Brenna kept the style natural and effortlessly elegant with glass bud vases filled with assorted floral that ran down the tables along with a soft lace runner and candles.

“So hard to pick just one! I think the floral elements; especially the baby’s breath garland and chandeliers.”
The Favorite Detail:
The Food: “Joy Road Catering created the most amazing
meal using the freshest seasonal and local ingredients. The food was incredible, and guests still to this day tell us how amazing the meal was! We served shrimp & crab cakes, onion tarts and tomato bruschetta during cocktail hour. Dinner was served family style and started with fresh bread, followed by Spanish style olives, an heirloom caprese salad, and a mixed green salad. The main course included chicken, NY strip steaks, roasted potatoes and white wine risotto.”
The Sweets: Brenna and Kyle had a dessert bar filled with
chocolate mousse, macaroons and fruit galettes for guests to enjoy.

Bianca & Pete aspen
rachel havel photography
Bianca and Pete met at a mutual friend’s engagement party. They were being informally set up, and while Pete was excited to meet a Dallas girl while in town, Bianca had little interest in a guy living in Colorado. Thus, their first encounter lasted about 30 seconds. However, when the wedding rolled around four months later, Pete was determined to steal the heart of the stunning woman that had given him the cold shoulder the first time around. Over the three days of festivities at the destination wedding in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, he did just that! They did long distance for nine months until Pete made the move to Dallas! A year later, Pete proposed in the house she helped him find! They were doing a final walk-through after making all the renovations and Bianca asked what he thought. He paused and said, “It’s… okay. But there is something missing still.” Right before Bianca was about to tell Pete about all the work she did, he immediately got down on one knee and asked her to be his best friend for life. The two planned a stunning July 9th destination wedding in Aspen and celebrated with those they love in a gorgeous mountain field.

The Theme: Bianca and Pete wanted their wedding to fit
in with the beautiful scenery around them, so they kept it boho, yet clean and elegant! They used a natural color palette of white and shades of green with pops of soft blue, green and pink tones found in seasonal mountain flowers!
The Dress: “I searched for a dress, but kept running into
the dilemma where I would like the lace on one dress, but the style of another. So being in the fashion industry for over five years, I decided to design my own. I worked with a talented designer named, Michael Faircloth, who was able to make a dress that felt most like me!”
The Flowers: “We wanted the flowers to go with the
setting of the mountains, but also be elegant, so we chose whites with wild seasonal flowers in light hues. My bouquet had so many different types of flowers in it from white roses to blue hydrangeas, light pink and white peonies to proteas. The flowers looked wild and whimsical yet classic. I had told my wedding planner that I loved the clean look of all white and green, but didn’t want it to look too plain or out of place with the natural beauty of the mountains. We were lucky to have an incredible wedding planner who recommended a very talented florist that blew it out of the water. Maybe I’m slightly biased, but I still have never seen flower arrangements that beautiful!”
The Favorite Detail: Bianca just adored how the
flowers turned out and how, combined with the lighting throughout the tent, it created a whimsical, fairy tale feeling to the celebration.
Mr. and Mrs. Moment: “Walking down the aisle
together right after being presented Mr. and Mrs. Hunter and seeing all of our wonderful family and friends who came to support us!”

The Food: With Pete’s culinary background, he made the
menu choice for the wedding and went with a barbeque restaurant called Smoke Modern Barbeque. The couple still raves about the food! They chose their comfort foods to serve because what can beat good mac & cheese, barbeque and veggies?!
The Sweets: Bianca and Pete designed a lovely three-tier
cake with an aspen bark design on the outside of the cake. It was decorated with soft pastel floral and a "B+P" carving on the frosting!
The First Dance: The newlyweds danced to “Catch &
Release (Deepend Remix)” by Matt Simons. They tried choosing a slower, more romantic song, but both would burst out into laughter when practicing. So they went with a song with a fun beat.

Advice for RMB Brides: “Try to enjoy the process and remember that it’s about you and your significant other. Also, make sure to grab your significant other during the wedding to take a moment alone together away from everyone to take it all in!”

Jake & Brent boise
ampersand studios
Jake and Brent’s love story began on a cruise. Brent was on holiday from Australia celebrating his birthday and Jake was celebrating his father’s wedding. Brent’s birthday and Jake’s father’s wedding coincidentally were on the same day. Jake spotted Brent on the night of his birthday and told his sister how irresistible Brent was. Jake’s sister brought Brent over to say hello. They hit it off immediately and started a long-distance relationship of Skype and FaceTime calls which included dates in which they would cook the same recipes and dine together. Jake and his American Staffordshire, Sebastian, moved to Australia to be with Brent. After three happy years in Melbourne, they decided to make it offical with a fabulous travel-themed wedding filled with personal touches, paper airplanes and endless amounts of love on August 27th.
108 rockymountainbride.com
Rocky Mountain Bride
real wedding
The moment Jake and Brent booked The Bishops’ House for their wedding location, they started to take inspiration from it to design their day. They also wanted to tell the story of their relationship, from long-distance to Australia together. They crafted a vintage travel theme with an eclectic and organic vibe. They used a color palette inspired by The Bishops’ House of greens, navy blue, white and brass.
The Theme:
The Wedding Day Look: “We’re more jeans and
t-shirt kind of guys, so we wanted to work with our stylist to create a whole day-of look. We had made-to-measure suits, which meant that we had freedom to choose the fabrics and key details like button holes, lapel widths, and stitching. It enabled us to have a tailored look but still cater to our individual personalities.” Brent chose something more traditional and Jake went with a more modern look.
The Flowers: Jake and Brent wanted to evoke an earthy, masculine and rustic feel in their design, so they chose a variety of succulents, eucalyptus, and other greenery with pops of white that turned out beautiful!
Rocky Mountain Bride

Brent’s favorite detail of the day was entertaining their friends and family! They had picked some great activities that guests could do like a temporary tattoo station, photo bus, a dance party DJ, yard games, pub trivia, bingo, and separate kids stations with activities! Jake’s favorite detail was the suitcase full of paper planes for guests to take for the ceremony. Seeing all of the paper planes on the grass afterward was such a symbolic nod to the relationship.
The Favorite Detail:
Advice for RMB Couples: Brent: Get a wedding planner. Be prepared that everything costs more than you think it will. RSVPs are never straightforward, so be prepared for last minute changes. Jake: I read advice from a couple once that stuck with me: Approach the entire event as a blank slate, and don’t do things because you think it’s what you’re supposed to do. Make the day what you want it to be, and tell a story about who you are as a couple, your relationship. At the end of the day, that’s why people are there with you. Also, take a moment together right after you say, “I do.” Just disappear together, briefly, and take it all in.

The Food: “One of the most important aspects of the
reception was the food. With so many ‘foodies’ at the wedding, we wanted the food to be a special highlight of the day. It was important for us to have local, farm-to-table Idahoan food. We worked with a chef from Caldwell, Idaho to create a ‘My Own Private Idaho’ menu. All of the food was grown locally: Southern Idaho grass fed tri-tip, linecaught Idaho Steelhead, blue barn vegetables, artesian milled breads with roasted garlic pods, and an amazing take on tater tots infused with bacon! The food was simply irresistible.”
The Sweets: Because Brent and Jake had so many guests
visiting Idaho from Australia, they wanted them to experience as much Americana as possible. They had a dessert table full of apple and peach pie pops, cherry and marion berry heart-shaped mini pies, and apple and blackberry pies baked in mason jars. For the actual cake, the couple had a four-tier stacked naked cake decorated with succulents. The tiers alternated between lemon with huckleberry filling and Madagascar vanilla with huckleberry filling. Delish!

Cooper and Lexton’s love story started when they met at Long Island University. Cooper was starting her sophomore year and Lexton was playing competitive soccer for LIU! The two kept spotting each other around campus and after a “magical” halloween night, the two were inseparable. These globetrotters traveled the world together, following in each other’s passions and supporting one another unconditionally. Cooper’s philanthropic heart and Lexton’s professional soccer career took them all around Australia, India, South Africa, and Asia. After a couple years of living abroad, the two finally were ready to settle down and return to the states. While living in New York City, Lexton planned a special Sunday Funday for Cooper. He gave her envelopes that told her where to go! First stop was the salon for a manicure, second stop was a flower shop and the third was at their favorite neighborhood restaurant where the hostess led Cooper down to a private room where Lexton was waiting. He handed her another envelope, this one unfolded to be pages of an old story about a boy asking a father for his daughter’s hand in marriage! In a giant box, Lexton presented Cooper with a hand-carved redwood ring! The two celebrated and after some time, Cooper finally opened envelope #4 which ended up being directions to go to a ring shop! On August 6th, these two world travelers said “I Do!”

The Theme: Cooper and Lexton planned an “Anthropologie meets J.Crew” wedding day, filled with personal touches and even Lexton’s 1955 Chevy vintage milk truck! They used a natural color palette of blushes, shades of green and white to create the look.
The Dress: “The first dress I fell in love with, was the
dress for me (much like the man). I found the Sarah Seven Sullivan gown on Instagram, liked it and hunted it down. Turns out the NYC salon is a 10 minute walk from my apartment and just across the street from where Lex sent me on my engagement scavenger hunt. I believe in signs, and that was a great sign! It was the first place I booked for trying on wedding dresses and I made the appointment for my birthday. Although I tried on over 40 dresses from places like BHLDN, Lovely Bride, and Kleinfeld, I kept coming back to that first one. There was nothing else like it. It was the perfect blend of simple, classy, modern and yet sexy all at the same time.”

The Flowers: Cooper wanted to have a natural, yet rustic look with lots of greenery. She also loved the protea flower. Julio at The Flower Hat used her Pinterest board as inspiration and created the bouquet of her dreams! Cooper tells us he even found a special white protea to stand out and add the wow factor!
“The barn. It is such an amazing structure, with a wonderful blend of strength, light, luxury and love. Filling the great space with people we care about, good music and wonderful memories has made it all the more special. After dinner in the tent, the sun peeped through the clouds and we got the most beautiful, warm sunset behind and through the barn’s grand windows. It was magical.”
The Favorite Detail:
The Food: The couple chose to serve a family-style dinner to enhance the importance of family in this event. The passing of food fit the feel perfectly! They rave about the outstanding menu Just a Taste Catering created for them! Guests enjoyed two salad varieties (one sweet, the other savory), chicken and tri-tip, potatoes and grilled veggies, and vegetarian stuffed peppers - Yum!
The Sweets: Cooper and Lexton had a dessert bar with a little bit of something for all their guests! Cookies and milk, chocolate covered strawberries, coconut chocolates, a gluten-free cake and other sweet treats!
Mr. and Mrs. Moment: “In midst of our first kiss as Mr and Mrs, my 2 year-old niece came crashing into us, lollipop in mouth, to give us the biggest and best hug ever. It was completely unexpected and fully embodied the moment.”
Advice to RMB Bride’s: “Pick one or two details that
you want to include and focus on those and only those. If you pick too many, it can be overwhelming. If desserts are your thing, make that special and embody that. Pinterest is great, but trying to include it all can be exhausting and stressful. In the end it is about celebrating you and your love, and all the people that have helped make your story complete. Another thing- Having a plan a, b, and c is a good idea. Weather in the mountains is unpredictable, and it’s good to have your bases covered. We had sun, wind, rain, and an incredible sunset.”

while renovating one of the original cabins at the resort at paws up, letters were found in the wall. the letters dated back to the 1920’s and told the story of two people in love with all of their hopes and ambitions. those words were written with so much passion and perseverance, it touches your heart. inspired by these letters and the classic american west, this styled shoot goes beyond capturing beautiful images - it brings to life the romance and allure of the west as told by two people in love.

Paige & Matthew albuquerque
loren & chris photography
Paige and Matthew met by chance on a Friday night in Old Town, Albuquerque. Their relationship quickly grew as they learned more about each other and realized that they shared the same passions about the outdoors and exploring new places! With each grand adventure they would go on, their love grew. A couple years later, while visiting Paige’s family in Texas, Matthew popped the question and Paige gave him a resounding “Yes!” They planned their industrial vintage wedding for September 26th, and celebrated their love for each other with close friends and family!
168 rockymountainbride.com
Rocky Mountain Bride
real wedding The Theme: Paige and Matthew knew they wanted a more “nontraditional” wedding location. So when Paige’s mom suggested The Rail Yards, the couple fell in love! They wanted their wedding to have fall and vintage features, while still playing into the industrial feel of the space. Showcasing all the amazing local culture and cuisine from New Mexico was also important to them and played a big role in the menu! They used a color palette of marsala with shades of yellow and rose gold accents. Paige chose a stunning mermaid style, strapless Alfred Angelo dress with a sweetheart neckline and chapel-length train! She loved how the ivory bodice with light gold details looked like leaves and evoked a whimsical feeling while still staying true to her personal style.
The Dress:
“We wanted to incorporate elements of fall with a late September wedding date, and something that would go with our marsala and gold color scheme. I trusted our florist completely. I just told her to please include three things: gold-painted succulent accents, make the bouquet free-flowing and to add flowing ribbons to the base. The bouquet turned out beautifully. She incorporated long ribbons to the base of the bouquet with little gold arrows, which matched our theme. There was also greenery decorating the ceremony space, and driftwood on the tables. I carried a handmade, blue handkerchief from my grandmother for my ‘something blue’ to wipe my tears away during our hand-written vows.”
The Flowers:
“The bouquets made for my sister and I were just gorgeous! I loved the gold-painted succulent accents and overall free-flowing form of the floral décor used on the tables and ceremony space. Also, the edible gold dust on the salted caramel marsala-colored macaroons was so pretty! We also had a vintage cabinet with old-fashioned, multi-colored glasses for mimosas that added a beautiful pop of color for the buffet decor.”
The Favorite Detail:
The Food: Paige and Matthew had a brunch-style buffet for
their early afternoon reception! They served locally roasted Trifecta Coffee from The New Mexico Pie Company for guests upon arrival, along with traditional, handmade heart-shaped biscochitos made by Matthew’s grandmother and aunt. After the ceremony, they served mimosas with wine sourced from St. Clair’s Winery along with turkey green chili mini pies and turkey and cheese scones!
The Sweets: The couple had tons of sweet treats for their
guests to enjoy! Their traditional cake was a four-tier white cake adorned with fresh berries and succulents, covered in biscochito flavored frosting! They also had salted caramel macaroons with gold dust and, in keeping with the local cuisine, green chile apple caramel mini pies.

Mr. and Mrs. Moment: “Listening to Matthew read
his vows to me, and then reading mine to him (although this was technically before we officially became Mr. and Mrs.). We both really thought out what we wanted to write in the weeks leading up to the wedding, and neither of us knew what the final product would be. It was an emotional moment, and we saved our written vows in a wedding scrapbook box to read to each other in the years to come.”
Advice for RMB Brides: “Make the day your own. Don’t worry about what other people think your wedding should be, it is you and your husband’s special day! Simple is sometimes better than complex…aesthetically, mentally, and budget-wise!” Three Words: Simple, Elegant, Unique

Katie & Julian salt lake city
emma vidmar photographe
Katie and Julian fell in love over Thai food... and Indian food, Italian food and of course milkshakes! Their love of food and music has made every moment since they met the best times of their lives! While living close to each other, to being oceans apart, their love and passions that they share only made them grow stronger. Julian proposed to Katie at her favorite lakeside spot in Utah. It was a rainy day and as Julian handed Katie an umbrella, he got down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of their lives falling even more in love with each other! The two planned a magical starry night wedding on August 27th and celebrated with friends, family and some amazing eats!

The Theme: Katie and Julian’s inspiration came from
their love for strands of twinkle lights and how lighting can create the most wonderful atmosphere. They wanted all of their guests to feel like close friends enjoying the laughs, emotions and some cake in the moonlight. Katie loves fresh herbs and combined with the Tuscan-style of the house with an Italian flair for her wedding look! A color palette of slate blue, gray and gold accents were used to make the vision a stunning reality.
The Dress: Katie’s Anne Barge wedding dress was pure
perfection for her wedding day look! “I learned that, though there are so many beautiful wedding dresses, there is only one that makes you feel amazing. I found that dress. It was romantic, classic and so fun to wear.”
The Flowers: Katie wanted an earthy and understated feel while incorporating lots of greenery, herbs and fresh blooms. She loved the elegant, yet down-to-earth feel that The Potted Pansy designed!

Karen and Jeff’s love story began atop the Lyon Street steps, a popular San Francisco workout destination overlooking the Bay, when an intrepid, young doctor, Karen, approached a then fun-employed entrepreneur, Jeff, after his dawn-patrol boot camp. A few days and an epic first date later that consisted of two wine bars, sushi and a brief visit to the bowling alley, it was clear that there was something special happening. Over the next few years, the couple fell in love over morning tea,Tennessee Valley trail runs and Bay Area backpacking trips. Jeff fell for Karen’s calming presence, generous spirit and her spunky sense of humor; while Karen was drawn to Jeff’s passion for life and adventure, his contemplative take on the world we live in and his romantic side. The two couldn’t think of a more grand adventure than to to get married in Wyoming with their closest friends and family!

The Dress: Karen had her wedding dress custom made by Jinza Couture Bridal in San Francisco. She loved how it perfectly captured vintage inspiration and timeless elegance.
The Flowers: When it came to the floral, Karen and Jeff wanted blooms that complimented the natural setting and the outdoors with a soft color palette. They adored what The Perfect Petal designed.
The Favorite Detail: “We wanted our vows to be sincere and from the heart. It was a very special and intimate moment to share with one another and our loved ones.”
The Food: The couple raved about the food at Brush Creek Ranch! The ranch’s executive chef, Colin Meyer, designed the four days of custom menus and each meal captured a different theme that guests loved!
The Sweets: Karen and Jeff chose a medley of small

ISABEL’S WEDDING ADVICE FOR BRIDES:
My biggest piece of advice to all brides is to do your best to not be stressed out! Your wedding day is all about you. You have so many friends and family there to help you out, so let them do just that...help! Delegate responsibilities so that you can actually enjoy your wedding day. Accept that not everything will go as planned. For instance, the weather forecasted for our wedding day was supposed to be sunny and warm. It ended up being freezing, which made it hard to take pictures outside after the ceremony. There was nothing I could do about the situation, and I had accepted that I would grin and bear it. Looking at the pictures now, you’d never know we couldn’t feel our fingers!

Kait & Jono whistler
Whistler Wedding Collective - Anastasia Chomlack + saraspectrum
Kait and Jono met during the Melbourne Cup, a popular sporting event in Australia. Kait was an international student from Canada studying abroad in Queensland and Jono was the incredibly charming local. After the exchanging of numbers and endless nights of chatting on the beach, the two lovebirds decided to book a backpacking trip to Asia together for three months. While abroad, Jono was offered a job on the opposite side of Australia from where the two met. He couldn’t refuse and the two splitted ways after returning from Asia. A week after Jono moved, he called Kait begging her to move out there to be with him. In love with Jono, she took the offer! When Kait’s visa expired, Jono did the same for her and followed her back to Canada! While spending Christmas morning together in Australia a couple years later, Jono took Kait on an early morning drive to a gorgeous mountain overlook by his parent’s home and asked her to be his wife. The two celebrated their beautiful love story with close friends and family during a month long wedding celebration in Canada, filled with “red wine and belly laughs.”

snow wedding we were so inspired by kait’s storytelling and her wedding day adventure that we had to break the rmb norm and let her tell you all about it!
Our wedding went a little like this... 1. Invite friends from all over the world and rent two incredibly beautiful ski chalets in the middle of the Rockies. Some guests (from Australia!) had never even SEEN snow so the excitement started in the planning for them! 2. Try on a million gorgeous dresses, but end up designing your own with elements from each. Pair it with accessories you made yourself and dreamy jewels from Anthropologie, BHLDN etc. 3. Treat your gal pals to three totally unique dresses in the same palette, each to compliment their different body types. Dress the gents in a super cool label (Wolf Kanat) and call it a day. 4. When the wedding day arrives, get ready in a completely Canadian outfit for a winter wedding. No satin robes here - plaid rompers instead! 5. Walk down the aisle to the acoustic sounds of one of your dearest friends playing your soon-to-be husband’s favorite singer (Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam), along with some chilled out versions of the usually upbeat Temper Trap - “Sweet Disposition.” 6. Hire incredible vendors who make the day come alive! Planners, photographers, caterers who totally ‘get you’ - you guys ROCK and nailed the vision I had. Recruit your best friend for your makeup, your cousin and her mom for the floral (Seriously - they were amazing!) and your gorgeous gal pal as your driver to the venue. Only she can rock aviators and a fur vest over her mom’s sparkly dress from 1982! 7. Serve hot chocolate with a sneaky drop of Baileys for some added ceremony warmth. 8. Gather in a timber lodge for a family-style feast, served down the center of harvest tables on gorgeous platters. 9. Toast to good friends, good food and a handsome new husband with local wine and craft beers. 10. Savor in the sweet things by using a local bakery to make the most delicious salted caramel cake. 11. Dance the night away with your favorite people, while sending love to those that couldn’t make it. 12. Wrap up the experience with a pancake breakfast the next morning complete with mimosas, baked goods and leftover chocolate. The best!

Lacey & Alex santa fe
eye wander photo
Lacey and Alex have mutual friends who were always trying to set them up, but the two were never in the same place at the same time. When they finally crossed paths one night at a restaurant, Lacey happened to be on a date with another boy! When introduced both pretended that they didn’t know of each other. After that, the two kept running into one another around town and Alex finally asked Lacey out.The rest is history! Alex planned the proposal during Lacey’s first trip to New Mexico, a favorite summer vacation spot for Alex’s family! The state holds a special place in his heart and Lacey was so excited to fall in love with it too! At a cabin in the mountains, that Alex’s great grandfather built, he asked Lacey to take a photo by the cabin. Little did Lacey know, Alex was secretly filming. So when he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him, he got her reaction on video! The two couldn’t think of a better place to celebrate their love than Alex’s home state. They planned a dazzling December 12th wedding that even included snow!

Lacey and Alex had a simple, yet elegant winter wedding! The couple incorporated a color palette of ivory and gold to create their classic soirée. They wanted their guests to experience New Mexico and have a great time!
The Theme:
The Dress: Lacey fell in love with the first dress she tried
on - a stunning Atelier Pronovias! The mermaid dress had long sleeves and covered buttons at the cuffs with a plunging v back that was perfect for her classic, winter chic wedding.
The Flowers: “We wanted all ivory flowers to showcase the simple elegance of our day. I had a round bouquet of ivory roses and dendrobium orchid blooms wrapped in an ivory ribbon and finished with my late grandmother’s handkerchief. My bridesmaids had smaller bouquets of ivory roses and lisianthus wrapped in gold ribbon. Alex and his groomsmen wore ivory dendrobium orchid boutonnieres. Our mothers and grandmothers wore gardenia corsages.”
The Food: Lacey and Alex wanted to give their guests a
culinary taste of New Mexico! For cocktail hour they served spiced rum and cider and passed hors d’oeuvres while a classical guitarist played music. The drinks were paired with Navajo fry bread with pumpkin seed cream and avocado salsa, tandoori seared tuna on papadum with cucumber and yogurt and wood fired smoked chicken quesadillas with avocado cream. To top it off, of course there was a chip station with fresh salsa, guacamole and chile con queso! For dinner guests feasted on an extravagant fajita station, a beef tenderloin carving station, a variety of salads and traditional Posole soup.
The Sweets: The newlyweds chose a four-tier Italian
cream cake from Cake Odyssey. The cake had a decadent cream cheese filling and was topped with an ivory buttercream icing. The cake was adorned with an ivory flower topper by Marisa’s Millefiori! Alex also had a chocolate ganache grooms cake with raspberry filling surrounded by four dozen chocolate covered strawberries - what a sweet treat!
The Favorite Detail: “We surprised our guests with a
tequila donkey! A donkey in a sombrero showed up halfway through our wedding reception carrying shots of tequila for everyone!”

winter romance MELISSA + ANDREW married januar y 22nd
THE ENGAGEMENT STORY Andrew and I had been dating for about a year when he proposed to me. One afternoon we decided to pack up a picnic dinner and load up into his PA-16 Clipper, a small tailwheel aircraft. We flew to Cow Creek, a grass runway in the Missouri Breaks. The only man-made object at Cow Creek was the Pilot Sign-in mailbox. Once we landed, Andrew suggested that we head over to the mailbox to fill out the pilot sign-in. I opened the mailbox only to find an absolutely stunning diamond ring sparkling back at me. Slightly panicked, I turned to Andrew thinking we have mistakenly encroached on someone’s special moment! However, as I turned around I found him down on one knee, reaching for my hand and asking me to be his wife. It was then that I realized that this was our special moment!! Overjoyed and feeling as though I were walking on clouds I said, ‘Yes, Absolutely!’” STELLA KELSIE PHOTOGRAPHY | STELLAKELSIEPHOTOGRAPHY.COM

Christina & John jackson
katy gray
Christina and John met over brunch at a restaurant in New York City. He ordered green eggs and ham, which made Christina smile, and the rest was history! The two stayed together through three cross-country moves, one career change and geographical distance between each other. John’s proposal to Christina involved a Wall Street Journal, bubble wrap and a mishap on the timing of the ring’s delivery from New York, but the two wouldn’t have had it any other way! They both share a love of the mountains, so what better way to celebrate their love than an intimate family wedding in Jackson! Through some snowy logistics and a sick bride, Christina and John had an unforgettable wedding on January 9th!
240 rockymountainbride.com
Rocky Mountain Bride
real wedding The Theme:
“We wanted our event to be a cozy, love-filled family gathering – a chance for our disparate family members to enjoy each other in a dreamy, wintery, snow-filled setting. And I had to make up for the fact that both of my sisters-in-law don’t like the cold! So we tried to create as magical a setting as possible, with every amenity we could think of to make it as warm and cozy as we could. The Four Seasons Resort, the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s private ski instructors and Cara Rank’s welcome baskets from XOWYO made the job easy! Despite delayed and canceled flights, and the general logistics of getting all of our family to Jackson, I knew we had made the right call – first, when I saw my niece’s and nephew’s little faces light up seeing snow for the very first time, and second, when I saw my father-in-law’s face light up watching the skiers from the giant picture windows at Couloir, his first trip back to Jackson in almost 50 years.”
The Dress: Christina chose a stunning Monique Lhuillier for her
Jackson “I Do”. It took multiple trips to the West Hollywood boutique and the hand-holding of the lovely Sharon Sless to find the dress in short order, and then have it restructured in even shorter order! Christina wanted the dress to withstand the dusting of snow showers, while at the same time shine in the beautiful setting Ian Whipple of Floral Art created at the Four Seasons – which it did beautifully!
The Favorite Detail: “There were so many gorgeous things
about our family event, but two stand out – the beautiful sachets of Jordan Almonds that my mother-in-law and sister-in-law carefully hand-tied for our place settings (bringing them all the way from Minot, North Dakota), and the makeshift strip of buttons and plastic dry cleaning clips that took the place of John’s cufflinks and shirt buttons. When John realized he had forgotten his as he was getting dressed, the Four Seasons staff banded together to come up with a solution – FAST!”
The Food: Christina and John had an incredible dinner to celebrate their marriage! The executive chef at the Four Seasons was so accommodating with everyone’s varying dietary considerations and created a delicious, unforgettable dinner featuring local cuisine.
The Sweets: For Christina, it was all about the cake! Though they
had individual dessert trios for everyone, she designed a stunning four-tier confectionary masterpiece that could feed the whole town of Jackson! Thanks to Rhonda Ashton, pastry chef at the Four Seasons, the group enjoyed cake for breakfast for the next several days!
Mr. and Mrs. Moment: “My moment came after dinner,
finally relaxing with John in our giant Adirondack chair at our outdoor fire pit, roasting marshmallows for s’mores, and enjoying our newly joined family. I was so thankful that everyone had managed to get together (we have five very busy brothers between the two of us!). The winter weather had thrown us more than a few curve balls along the way, and it ended up being a bit of a Herculean feat at times (with a very ill bride who received exceptional care from a great doctor called in by the Four Seasons a couple nights before the big event). You know how they say it takes a village to raise a child? It definitely took a village to pull off this family event! Special thanks go to John’s youngest brother Jason and his amazing wife Dusty for their quiet help, as well as my mother and my cousin Jenny!”

Brittany & Erickson calgary
shannon yau photography
Brittany and Erickson met by chance when they both attended a casual dinner at Brittany’s aunt and uncle’s house! Erickson was a friend of her cousin. That night, on a whim, she called her aunt to see if it was ok for her to stop by. Apparently, Brittany impressed Erickson with her rib-eating abilities, as she got an invite to Erickson’s show the following week. Erickson got Brittany’s number from her cousin and invited her for coffee. The two instantly connected and the rest was history! Erickson proposed on Brittany’s 30th birthday. It was a complete surprise! Erickson had Brittany open her birthday present, which was a handmade comic of the last 3 years of their relationship. The comic ended with “cartoon Erickson” saying that the real Erickson had something he wanted to ask...Then the real Erickson got down on one knee, pulled out a ring and asked Brittany to be his wife! The two planned a cozy winter wedding on January 2nd.
244 rockymountainbride.com
Rocky Mountain Bride
real wedding The Theme: Brittany and Erickson planned a cozy, romantic
winter wedding. They wanted a snowy mountain feel, mixed with the elegance of an evening wedding with lots of candles! The look was inspired by a color palette of marsala accented by ivory, gold, blush and greenery!
The Dress: “I went dress shopping with my bridesmaids (my
sisters) and my soon to be mother-in-law. I was looking for something simple and formfitting with minimal bling. We went to several dress shops around Calgary and found a few frontrunners, but nothing that was exactly right. The dress I eventually picked was from Ethos Bridal in Calgary. I tried it on first, then tried a few more dresses before coming back to the favorite. When I tried it on the second time, they added a veil which made everything real. I never expected to cry, but the emotions hit and the water works started when I realized I was wearing my wedding dress.”
The Flowers: Brittany raved about the design job Fleurish
did on making their wedding vision a reality! Brittany’s favorite floral arrangement were the bridesmaids’ bouquets! They were all greenery with no flowers, and had varieties of eucalyptus, blueberry cedar and privet berries. Roses were also used in most of the floral arrangements as a tribute to Erickson’s last name, Dela Rosa, which means “of the rose”.

The Favorite Detail: “Erickson drew a sketch of us as bride and groom for the wedding invitations. The sketch ended up being a running theme throughout the wedding and was included on the favours, programs, seating chart, etc. I loved having that personal, handmade touch consistently represent our wedding day.”
The Food: The couple loved their wedding menu! For
cocktail hour, guests enjoyed hor d’oeuvres and canapés like glazed caribou and bison meatballs and bacon-wrapped prawns. For dinner, they dined on curried butternut squash soup followed by a choice of grilled Alberta beef tenderloin, organic Red Spring salmon filet or field mushroom and artichoke strudel. Once dancing started, they also served a “build your own poutine station” as a late night snack to keep the party-goers full!
The Sweets: For dessert, Brittany and Erickson had a
delightful two-tier wedding cake filled with red velvet and chocolate cake. Guests also enjoyed a dessert bar featuring strawberry shortcake, red berry and chocolate French macaroons, lemon meringue tarts and other sweet treats.
