Hello Darling! I beleive that there are seasons in life - times when things change for the better and you grow beyond measure! You are faced with things that are both beautiful and a little intimidating, things that make you grow into the person you are meant to be. When RMB made the decison to start expanding in the Rockies, and focusing on each state we love, we totaly experienced this. We fell in love with Idaho, each new landscape took our breath away and we wanted to be able to respresent the state and show brides how truly epic it is. We spent time in each place, earning and growing, making sure that we captured it’s beauty perfectly for you! And now looking at this magazine, full of inspiring love stories and landscapes that make you fall in love a little more with this great state, I know we captured in our inaugural issue the Idaho we love! This magazine is full of love - love for each person we worked with, love for each new place that is now etched in our hearts, love for all the brides that will read this magazine and find their dream place for their own “I Do.” Idaho is such a vibrant state full of immense beauty and adventure, and we here at RMB tried to capture this in every story and inspiration we created. From the mountaintop at Schweitzer, to the Idaho Botanic Garden in Boise, and all the pretty inbetween, we are honored to call Idaho a part of our Rocky Mountain Bride family! Thank you so much for letting RMB help guide you to your dream wedding. We wish you a lifetime of love, adventure and wanderlust for this beautiful place we live!

Mary + Chase
abbey kyhl
boise
Mary and Chase met at a Super Bowl party. The two chatted most of the night, yet parted ways. They didn’t see each other again until a couple of months later at the BYU library. Mary at the time was taking an accounting class (which she wasn’t doing too well in!), and Chase was applying for an accounting major and offered to tutor her. While Mary never took Chase up on the tutoring (though her GPA wishes she did!) the two had lunch together that day and started to connect on a deeper level. Soon after, Mary traveled to Jerusalem to study abroad. The two stayed connected, and when she returned they officially started dating. A year later, to celebrate the end of the school year, Chase took Mary on a picnic to their favorite spot in the mountains. He arranged to have the same lunch they first had together. After lunch, Chase popped the question. Mary said, “YES!” They planned a classic wedding on August 20th at Mary’s family home just outside of Boise.

a classic day Mary and Chase wanted their wedding day to be classic and elegantly modern! They used a color palette of neutral tones, whites, and lots of greenery to create the ambiance they envisioned for all 300 of their guests!

flower fancy When it came to the floral, Mary and Chase knew they wanted a lot of white and green blooms. They trusted Flowers at Will with the design. Boy, did he deliver! The floral design, paired with the event design of Ira + Lucy, was beyond what Mary could have dreamed of for her wedding day. Mary and Chase’s day was magical!

a feast for all At their reception, Mary and Chase had endless station options for their guests. The chef at Scentsy was their caterer. They created the most amazing menu! They had a taco station, a vegetable and fruit station, meatloaf sliders, mac and cheese, and chicken skewers with peanut sauce. It was everything the couple loved to eat! For dinner, they stayed classy and served their guests steak and chicken paired with mashed potatoes and roasted carrots. Everyone enjoyed each bite and still raves about the meal to this day!
pie party Since Mary’s favorite sweet treat is pie, the couple decided to have a dessert bar filled with all types of hand pies and tarts. They also served vanilla cupcakes with chocolate frosting so Chase could enjoy his favorite sweet treat too! To top if off, they included a two-tier buttercream cake to cut in front of all their friends and family!
pacific northwest adventures The newlyweds celebrated wedded bliss with a Pacific Northwest coastal road trip. They started in Vancouver Island, stayed a few days in Victoria and then drove up the coast to all the small Canadian towns and beaches. Mary and Chase’s favorite spot was in a little village called Coombs in British Columbia. It had a small grocery market and café that was dug out of the ground with goats eating grass on the roof!

advice to rocky mountain couples “Your wedding day is the one time in your life when you will get that much attention. It can be overwhelming, especially if you’re not particularly keen on being in the lime-light, but enjoy it! Seeing everyone who comes to celebrate your happiness allows you to realize how much people love and support you. It is unlike any other time in your life.”

Andrea + Bobby
shelley k photography
na m p a
Andrea and Bobby met in the summer of 2014 when they both started working at the same company in Boise. Bobby began his new job and just weeks later, Andrea joined the company. They instantly had a connection with their love for Seattle and the Seahawks. Bobby started planning co-worker get-togethers to watch football games. Of course, he invited Andrea. Their first date was at Kona Grill at The Village with a movie afterwards. Trips to Las Vegas and Seattle, two seasons of Seahawks games, and countless Netflix episodes followed, Andrea and Bobby were practically inseparable. A year or so later, Bobby pulled off a surprise proposal on February 13th at Bardenay restaurant in downtown Boise. The two planned a June 25th vineyard wedding with all of their friends and family there to celebrate!

Andrea and Bobby planned a modern, natural wedding with a sprinkle of vintage glam! Andrea, being a designer, loved creating her wedding look! She used a color palette of blush and navy with neutral accents and greenery to create her dream day!
vintage glam Andrea was inspired by a vintage glam theme and has always loved the 1950’s traditional bridal look. She tried on five dresses and immediately knew along with her mom and bridesmaids that the last was the one! Andrea never knew she would look so “bridal”! In addition to the dress, she chose a long, beautiful hand-beaded veil to complete the look for her vineyard wedding!

vineyard vows Andrea and Bobby kept their summer wedding light and delicious! They served beef kabobs, bruschetta, smoked salmon with assorted cheese and crackers with assorted breads and cream cheese spreads. Sawtooth wines were also poured with the meal so guests could pair together their favorite bites and sips!
sweet love For their sweet treat, the couple chose a tiered naked cake with an assortment of pies. Best of all, Andrea surprised Bobby with a Seahawks groom’s cake!
shinedown The couple’s first dance was “I’ll Follow You” by Shinedown. Bobby sent a YouTube link of the music video to Andrea earlier in their relationship and it quickly became their song. Andrea surprised Bobby with tickets to a Shinedown concert during their first look!

Cara + Andrew
jenn emerling photography
s u n va l l e y
Cara and Andrew met in Los Angeles, and not by chance. The couple met on Jdate – a Jewish dating site. Like any good mother would, Cara’s mom coaxed her into signing up! For the first few months, she had no luck. Cara was just about to give up until she received a message from Andrew. She thought she would give it one last shot. On their first date, Andrew took Cara out to a nice restaurant in Beverly Hills. During the meal, Andrew got up to use the restroom, and Cara texted her mom, “This guy is great. Pretty sure this is IT!” The rest is history. Four months into their relationship, they booked a month long trip to Peru and have been traveling the world together as best friends and soulmates ever since! When it came to their July 31st destination wedding, they created a gorgeous day tailored to who they are as individuals as well as their deep, playful love for one another!

talk about personal details!
The bride, with the help of her father-in-law, designed the entire event! From their customized logo to their branded decor, the bride carefully crafted every detail which led to an overall theme that couldn’t be duplicated or beat. When friends and family asked Cara what her wedding colors were she would laugh and say, “personality!” The weekend was all-encompassing - Cara and Andrew!
love in focus “Andrew and I listened to ourselves. We tried not to follow any wedding trends. You know, looking back, we even challenged the trends. The two of us did what we wanted to do. It was refreshing! The whole experience was truly fun, exciting and a little silly...100% us! It was truly the best weekend of our lives, and not just because of that big day, but because the entire weekend felt like a summer-camp of activities with all of our favorite people.”

beneath the stars Cara and Andrew incorporated Jewish traditions into their day. During the ceremony the couple exchanged vows under a floral adorned huppah, which symbolizes the creation of a new home. It was special to the bride and groom to have their parents as such an integral part of their ceremony. Later on in the evening, the newlyweds even had their guests join them to dance the hora under the stars!

leave it on the dance floor!
“The dancing was everything to us and easily became one of the most memorable aspects of our wedding. We actually had two different dance floors! Our DJs were amazing, and Andrew and I created six different playlists. The songs we chose escalated throughout the night from classic jazz and acoustics to EDM and 90’s hip hop. My goal was to not leave the dance floor, and I never did!”
advice to rocky mountain couples “Don’t wait and leave it all until the end! Start planning right right away. Do it slowly overtime and make the process enjoyable. Most importantly, forget what your wedding is ‘supposed’ to be. You’ll never remember what your colors were, or whether you had the right number of candles, but you’ll remember how you felt. So make the celebration all about you and your other half.”

Amanda + Anish mccall
ampersand photography
Amanda and Anish met at a mutual friend’s BBQ in San Francisco a few years before they started dating. They kept in touch over the years, yet didn’t start dating until an impromptu Sunday brunch. They spent the day rating bloody mary’s from bars around San Francisco and singing karaoke at a local piano bar. Amanda knew that any guy who would belt out Whitney Houston had to be quite special! Through the weeks the two quickly became inseparable, finding any excuse or random event to hang out without it being a “date”. Amanda eventually “proposed” to Anish, asking if he’d be her boyfriend by sending him on a scavenger hunt around the city. When it came time to propose, Anish, in similar fashion, surprised Amanda with a scavenger hunt to all the “firsts” they experienced together. At their first date spot, the final clue was waiting at a table. It took Amanda a few moments to decipher the puzzle, “Wheel / Will, Ewe / You, Bee/Be, M + eye / My, Wifi-i+e/wife?”, but once she did Anish was on one knee. She happily said “Yes!” The two celebrated with a romantic, lakeside wedding on August 27th in McCall.

love by the lake McCall has always held a special place in Amanda’s heart. Growing up, her family had a cabin on the lake. They would spend summers there waterskiing, picking huckleberries for pancakes and making s’mores on the beach. In the winter months, they would make massive snow forts for snowball fights and go skiing at Brundage Mountain. It was always her “happy place” as a child. Since Amanda and Anish love the outdoors, the two couldn’t think of a better place to tie the knot. Their main inspiration for the wedding came from the beauty of McCall and Payette Lake. By incorporating a color palette of teals, blues and grays mixed with splashes of gold and coral, they achieved a look that was natural, yet timeless.

& airy
“The dress I chose was one of the first I tried on … But, of course, I had to go to another half dozen stores to confirm that it was ‘the one’! It was so comfortable and a perfect fit for my style and the lakeside wedding location. I loved that the lace chest overlay and straps were subtly reminiscent of leaves and flowers.”

senbazuru One of Amanda’s favorite wedding details were the folded paper cranes hanging behind the altar. In honoring her Japanese heritage, she adopted the Senbazuru (folding 1,000 paper cranes) into her and Anish’s wedding celebrations as a way to bestow blessings for a long, harmonious marriage.
boats
& bubbles
“Immediately following the ceremony the two of us hopped on a vintage wooden boat where we drank champagne, toured the lake and had our first moment as husband and wife together before going back to our guests. It was a nice, quiet and private moment before starting the party.”

the first dance Amanda and Anish couldn’t decide on their first dance song. Therefore, they decide to create a mix of three tunes and hire a choreographer to help them master the dance. They started with a slow dance to Israel Kamakawi- wo’ole’s “Over the Rainbow” followed by some toe-tapping swing moves to Frank Sinatra’s “You Make Me Feel So Young.” To honor Anish’s Indian heritage, the two ended with an upbeat “Bollywood-inspired” Aaj Mera Jee Kardaa’s Bhangra dance that got everyone ready to party.
advice to rocky mountain couples “Do what you and your partner want, not what you think a wedding is ‘supposed’ to be or what others may want (it’s your wedding - have fun with it!). Not everything will go perfectly, but you will have the time of your life. Think of it as your party with all of your friends, family and loved ones from all parts of your life in the same night. A lot of people will have a lot of recommendations for you leading up to the wedding. It’s easy to get overwhelmed, but if it adds a lot of stress and doesn’t bring you and your partner closer together — drop it and move on! Also, I highly recommend hiring a videographer for your big day. Being able to relive our special day over and over has been really fun, plus they caught moments we weren’t able to see on the day-of.”

Ann + Scott c o e u r d’al e n e
sullivan & sullivan
Ann and Scott’s love story began one night in college at a bar where Scott got the courage to ask Ann if he could buy her a drink. Although the intro wasn’t the smoothest, Ann instantly felt a connection to him. Drinks eventually led to making plans for a real dinner date and the two have spoken nearly every day since! After graduation, the two settled in Seattle and supported each other through the transitional growing pains that come with being young professionals in a new city. The experience made them grow even closer. Fast-forward a couple years to a Greek island vacation, on a gorgeous night, after dinner: Scott suggested they ride their scooter to the beach to watch the sunset. As it dipped below the horizon, Scott completely surprised Ann by popping the question! She said,“Yes!” The couple then started to plan their modern, July 24th Coeur d’Alene wedding.

destination: coeur d’alene
Ann grew up in Coeur d’Alene. Even though the couple lives in Seattle, they wanted their loved ones to experience Northern Idaho’s beauty for their special day! Ann and Scott wanted a wedding that was modern and elegant. Mainly, they wanted to throw a fancy party with friends and family! The Hagadone Events Center and Wedding Garden at The Coeur d’Alene Resort fit their vision perfectly. With their color palette of white, navy and hints of green, the space shined!
modern muse “I love my dress and veil! I chose my dress because it is simple and elegant. The ‘wow-factor’ is really in the fine material and subtle design details. It is a silk crepe gown with a cut-out back and cowl. I had no intention of purchasing a veil, but the two paired so well together. I felt like I could go big with the veil since I was wearing a sleek gown.”

boat ride for two Ann and Scott exited the wedding on a classic, wooden boat on Lake Coeur d’Alene. The bride and groom’s family surprised the newlyweds with champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries for the boat ride back to the suite at the resort. While the wedding was a blast, Ann loved sharing this special moment with Scott.

advice to rocky mountain couples “Book a good photographer! Someone gave me this piece of advice when I was planning and I’m so happy I listened. You spend a lot of time with your photographer on the day of the wedding. Our photographers made the photo shoot portion really fun for everyone involved. The day goes by so quickly and no one remembers details, but you will have the photos forever!”

from the bride “The best par t of our engagement session to me was to be able to be vulnerable in public with Colby and to spend time together posing for pictures that we are going to keep and cherish forever. We had never taken pictures together before, so it was way more fun than we had expected! The best par t was when Colby, Rachel Shamberg (our photographer) and I stopped mid-shoot to get a beer so we could loosen up. Did I mention this was our first photo shoot? It was sor t of fun kissing and playing in front of the camera in public!

Arrangements that look organic and free flowing are what many of my brides ask for these days! Here are my tips on how to recreate this look for your wedding day. Try foraging yourself floral blossoms, leaves, and berries in your area that can be incorporated into your arrangements. If you are planning on a wedding in early spring try accenting with blossoming branches of cherry and peach trees, fruited branches of apples or grape vines to add texture! Lilacs and peonies add fragrance and are a great filler for vases and archways. Herbs, radishes, and artichokes in early summer can playfully elevate your arrangements to a new level. Autumn brings incredible colors in leaves and fall colored berries and twigs. Take a basket and floral cutters, go out in nature and get inspired for your wedding!
