Winter Cover Lisa O’Dwyer “I have always admired my mother’s collection of early 20th century American art pottery. She had beautiful flower and plant-motifed vases from Weller, Roseville, McCoy, and more. As a photographer, I thought it would be fun to create a bridal look using the muted green blue of art pottery and the lush reds and pinks of peonies and other flowers popular in the early 20th century. Using this theme of American pottery and early 20th century color and design, we pulled together a lovely winter look that gives warmth to the snowy landscape of Cathy Fromme Prairie in Fort Collins. Our shoot was photographed on traditional film which gives a nostalgic dreamy look.” - Lisa O’Dwyer

The Rockies
Real Wedding
Lindsey & Chad Tabernash
9.28.2013 Chad proposed to Lindsey on a snowy December night at the park nearby their house in Texas. The park was illuminated with Christmas lights, and on their way to dinner he dropped down on one knee with a gorgeous ring, in front of a 40 foot Christmas tree! The two planned their perfect day at Devil’s Thumb Ranch, where they had a elegant soiree to celebrate their love!
The theme: “Mountain Elegance” was the theme for this fall wedding. Chad grew up in Texas and Lindsey in Colorado so they wanted a wedding that represented both of them. They struck a beautiful balance in their wedding design with a love of nature highlighted in an elegant and traditionally-styled event. The colors: In keeping with an elegant affair, the colors used were gold, champagne, and ivory.
The dress: Lindsey described her A-line Ellis Gown as “classic, feminine, and lovely.”
The flowers: Lindsey’s floral choice of lush, soft ivory flowers with gold, and sparkly accents added the “wow” factor to her table design. The favorite detail: “So hard to choose just one… We got to cut our wedding cake with Chad’s Officer sword that he was presented with when he became a Commissioned Officer in the Coast Guard. We wanted to include a fun military tradition in our wedding since it is such a large part of our lifestyle. Our favorite decor item was our chandeliers because they made the barn look so elegant and I have such great stories about how those finally ended up at our wedding.”
Rocky Mountain Bride Colorado
rockymountainbride.com
23
The sweets: In staying true to their classic style, Lindsey and Chad kept it
simple with their cake! They chose a vanilla cake with a sweet vanilla filling and butter cream vanilla frosting.
The food: Lindsey and Chad made sure their guests were not going to leave hungry! For cocktail hour they served Dungeness crab cakes, pork carnitas with slaw on a black pepper biscuit, and fried white truffle mac and cheese balls. For dinner, guests dined on pan-seared halibut, herb crusted roast bison filet, and saffron risotto. Delish! The first dance: The two chose “Nothing’s going to stop us now” by
Jefferson Starship for their first dance. “We chose this song because we love 80’s music, we could rumba to the beat which is our favorite dance, and the words described exactly how we felt that night!”
Three words: “Elegant, Impassioned, and Fun” Advice for RMB Brides: “Get a wedding coordinator! We were able to plan
a lot of the wedding on our own for the most part, but we simply could not have done it without our coordinator; whom actually went above and beyond for just being day of. She was able to make my ideas become reality on my wedding day while I went to yoga class and spent time with my bridesmaids and family. It allowed us to just be in the moment and experience the most wonderful day of our lives.”

Pair 1920’s glam with the mountain elegance of The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch and you get one breath taking look. The style inspiration was putting a modern twist on vintage styles. The bride’s Romona Keveza gown, dressed with long strands of pearls was a modern take on a vintage look, while the Groom’s bird feather bowtie pulled in rich hues from that era. Add in a lush bouquet and it’s an instant classic!

Love the 1920’s but don’t want to have a Great Gatsby Wedding? Incorporate small details from that era into your wedding design versus big elements. A modern pearl necklace and a feather bowtie is the perfect vintage touch. Calligraphy is another way to incorporate that classic style without it defining your day.

Real Wedding
Hillary & Matthew Basalt
11.29.2013 Hillary has been best friends with Matthew’s sister for over 19 years! When she got married, Hillary and Matthew were paired together and ended up sharing their first kiss that night on the dance floor! After months of long distance, Matthew proposed to Hillary at the Denver Botanic Gardens with all their friends and family there to help celebrate! When it came to planning their wedding, they wanted a intimate and special weekend shared with those they love! A private ranch in Basalt was the perfect place for their fall inspired wedding!
The theme: Hillary and Matthew chose a fall & Thanksgiving inspired wedding because it’s their favorite time of the year and their favorite meal!
The dress: Hillary bought her gorgeous Provonas gown at The Bridal Collection. She was a bit limited as she only had a couple months until the big day, but once she put it on, she immediately fell in love! It fit her perfectly and she loved the English netting, sweetheart neckline, how the fabric fell at a angle that gathered on the side on the gown, and most importantly ... she could twirl in it!
The flowers: Hillary adores flowers, so her wedding floral was something that she was very excited about! She worked with The Rufflly Rose who helped Hillary craft her dream bouquet filled with dahlias, sunflowers, orange ranunculus, and pumpkin sticks!
The favorite detail: Hillary and Matthew loved how the table
decor came together! They handmade the aspen log candle holders that were in the middle of the table and painted each mini pumpkin that graced each place setting. Hillary tells us that “the whole table just seemed to glitter and sparkle.”
32 rockymountainbride.com
Rocky Mountain Bride Colorado
Mr. + Mrs. Moment: Right after their ceremony, Hillary and
Matthew went back to their private cabin for a half hour, shared a bottle of champagne, and enjoyed giggling and smooching each other. She loved that it was such a special and private moment to share together as newlyweds.
The sweets: A family friend who lived in Aspen and used to bake pies for Boogie’s Diner created a carrot cake topped off with two chocolate turkeys dressed to the nine’s in a veil and bowtie!
The food: Since Hillary and Matthew’s theme was Thanksgiving, how could they not create this fabulous meal for their wedding! They had a feast of two turkey’s, green bean casserole, candied yams, mashed potatoes, buns, and cranberry sauce that everyone helped cook that morning! Advice for RMB Brides: “Do your research and figure out what things
are really important to you on your wedding day and go from there. Keep it simple and try to utilize your family and friends to help out so you’re not so stressed... if each person has a specific job, it makes your life way easier! Also, splurge on a good photographer to capture all the moments and small details - you’ll love having all the photos once the wedding whirlwind is over!”

Real Wedding
4.6.2013 Jaclyn and Christopher met on the job site of Solaris in Vail Village, and later after running into each other at The Red Lion, the local bar in Vail, they started dating and the rest is history. Since they met in Vail, it only seemed right to get married there! The two planned their aspen-inspired wedding for the spring, and though it was a chilly 40 degrees, they loved every minute of it! From a stunning ceremony, to the breathtaking Jenny Packham gown, Jaclyn and Christopher’s wedding was unforgettable.
Jaclyn & Christopher Vail
The Theme: “Christopher was born and raised in Snowmass, Colorado so he is quite the mountain man.” Because their wedding took place in Vail while there was still snow on the ground, they chose to use an aspen tree theme for the big day. “We live in a town surrounded on all sides by a national forest so Chris had the idea to use trees and branches from the area to create all kinds of unique accessories.”
The Colors: Jaclyn stayed true to aspens and chose grey and white as her color palette.
The Dress: Jaclyn found her dream Jenny Packham gown online and was so taken with the gown, that it was the only dressed she tried on! She tells us that she “felt like a vintage movie star and couldn’t have been happier.”
The Flowers: The flowers chosen for Jaclyn and Christopher’s wedding were simple and classy bouquets made up of white peonies and hints of dusty miller, wrapped in aspen bark and white ribbon.
40 rockymountainbride.com
Rocky Mountain Bride Colorado
The Favorite Detail: The décor of the room for the ceremony was
Jaclyn’s favorite part. She loved the use of cherry blossoms behind the altar and candles and flower petals to line the runner, which together made for an amazing ambiance when the curtain were finally pulled back!
Mr. and Mrs. Moment: “We both expected it to be fun, but we
never imagined that it was possible to have as much fun as we did! We didn’t stop smiling for days!”
The Sweets: Jaclyn and Christopher couldn’t decide on one flavor, so they went with two! Guests enjoyed a red velvet cake and a Italian cream cake, both with a cream cheese filling and fresh berries. The Food: For cocktail hour, guests enjoyed caprese skewers, veggie cups, meatballs, and crab toasts followed by beef tenderloin (mother of the bride’s special recipe!), chicken satay, garlic and rosemary roasted potatoes, and green beans with toasted almonds and parmesan. Pizza was provided at the after party for a late night snack! Advice for RMB Brides: “Consider a spring wedding while the
mountain is still open. It gives guests lots of things to see and do and there are usually dates still available even if you don’t plan your wedding over a year in advance. The weather can be unpredictable, but pictures in the snow really turn out beautifully!”

T he ABC’ s
of bridal skincare
By: Alline Arguelles Licensed Esthetician & Professional Makeup Artist Owner of Tejasi Beauty & Manager at Alpenglow Beauty, Telluride
One of the most important factors for looking your best on wedding day is smooth, even toned skin. Taking the right steps in the year or months leading up to the big day can insure you put your best face forward.
Skin Care Basics If you don’t have a regular daily routine now is the time to start! Not all skin care products are created equal. It is crucial to find products that are not only best for your skin type and conditions but also work with your budget and lifestyle. Your best bet is to see a licensed esthetician for a skin care consultation and analysis. Be sure to mention upfront your budget and preferences for natural, organic, fragrance free, etc… You should ask for a liquid cleanser, exfoliating toner and moisturizer that address your skin type (dry, oily, sensitive) or any skin conditions (fine lines, large pores, acne, sun-damage). Look for an eye cream that addresses your specific needs (fine lines, puffiness, or dark circles) or if you’re happy with your eye area start using a hydrating eye cream that is high in anti-oxidants.
Pre-Wedding Treatments Once you master the basics, you’re ready to up-grade your skin care regimen. Treatment products are designed to deliver powerful and targeted results so look for products that address your specific concerns. Serums, facial oils and powders are meant to be used daily, before or mixed with moisturizer. Masks should be used once or twice a week. Products in these categories can be mixed and matched, find a few you love and alternate. If you have some serious skin troubles (acne, scarring, pigmentation) it’s a good idea to look into professional services such a laser and microdermabrasion. For most people monthly facials at your favorite spa will enhance the effects of your at home routine, helping skin to be clear, smooth, and soft. Facial services also provide an opportunity to relax the mind and body. We all know wedding planning can be stressful so plan a few facials and massages to help your feel your best. Couples massage anyone? If you have been tending your own brows, then let them grow for a month or two before seeing a brow specialist who can help you create your best shape. Get brows waxed no sooner than 5 days prior to the wedding, your makeup artist will clean up any strays. If you want lash extensions do them a month out to be sure you don’t have any reactions to the glue, then get a fill before the big day.
The Quick Fix Correct
the most common skin issues with these tips and products
Breakouts
Wrinkles
Redness
Issue
Issue
Issue
No matter what your age, breakouts can happen! Many people who suffer with regular breakouts forgo moisturizer but this can actually worsen acne by leading to an increase in oil production and even more dry, dead skin cells.
If you blush, flush and get red when you are nervous, hot, or drinking alcohol, or you are red all the time, there is a solution. You don’t have to live with ruddy skin!
Years of tanning, not using the right products, or just genetics can lead to premature signs of aging. Wrinkles don’t have to be a permanent part of your skin!
Solution:
Solution:
Solution:
A foaming cleanser to breakdown built-up debris and oil; an exfoliating astringent that contains salicylic acid and oil busting ingredients like willow bark, tea tree, witch hazel; and an oil free moisturizer. Best to look for an oil-free formula that is designed to help treat your breakouts.
Products that are designed to treat your skin’s sensitive nature, not just fragrance free or hypoallergenic. These days almost all products are tested to be low in allergens, so make sure it’s formulated to help with redness.
A creamy cleanser that won’t strip your natural oils; an exfoliating toner with an alpha-hydroxy acid and hyaluronic acid (sometimes called sodium hyaluronate) and a sunscreen day cream and a night cream with retinol (the vitamin “A” derivative with the best skin repair results).

Pairing a neutral plaid suit with a yellow stripe pop of color is the perfect combination to a semi-formal “I Do!” The paisley pocket sleeve ties all three styles together. The Plains
Real Wedding
Kelsey & Shane Larkspur 6.29.2013 These two New Yorkers met at a mutual friend’s birthday party in Manhattan and have been inseparable ever since! Since moving to Colorado for work, Kelsey and Shane decided to plan a rustic and romantic Colorado wedding. On a sunny June day, the two became husband and wife at Spruce Mountain Ranch and celebrated their love with all their friends and family.
The theme: Kelsey wanted a romantic outdoor Colorado soiree for her wedding. She incorporated rustic woods, pastel floral, and alot of soft lighting to create the look. The colors: In keeping with a romantic outdoor wedding, Kelsey chose pale yellows, creams, soft greens, and contrasting pops of blush and lavender.
The dress: “ Ethereal Romance - a feminine corset with a lace overlay coupled wit the most beautifully layered tulle skirt that cascaded perfectly.
The flowers: Just like her colors, Kelsey wanted rustic and
soft floral for her wedding day. She went with a neutral and pale floral palette, incorporating dusty miller and lavender for the rustic contrast.
The favorite detail: The bridal party table was a rustic wood farm table that she wanted to make the focal point of the room. She rented gorgeous wooden cross-back chairs and two special antique gold chairs for her and Shane. She found a photo on Pinterest of a piano shawl draped over a table and fell in love with the look. After months of searching, she found the perfect shawl for her bridal party table. She loved the look because it was the perfect balance of feminine fancy and rustic.

Mr. and Mrs. Moment: “In the morning and early afternoon, the weather was not looking too good for our outdoor ceremony. Everyone kept telling me to move it inside, and I wanted to talk with Shane about it to decide. When I called him, we were on the same page, and communicated without having to say much at all. It was yet another sign why he was perfect for me. Right before we started the ceremony, the clouds opened up and we had a sunny day for the rest of our wedding!” The sweets: Both Kelsey and Shane don’t like cake, so they opted for an eclectic dessert bar, and used vintage trays, stands, and plates the Bride’s mom and her found to display the sweets! The food: Kelsey and Shane wanted to give their east coast family and friends
a true Colorado farm-to-table experience, so they went with all local ingredients. Guests got to enjoy smoked trout dip, free range chicken, wild buffalo tri-tip, and of course Rocky Mountain oysters for the more adventurous.
Three words: “happy, loving, romantic, exciting, thankful - I couldn’t pick just 3!” Advice for RMB Brides: “Book your photographer early! The good ones fill up fast. We went with Zorn Photography and absolutely fell in love with them. They understood who we were as a couple, and that is reflected in our wedding day photos.”
The Honeymoon: The two jetted away to Thailand! They visited Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Bangkok. “Check to make sure it’s not rainy season,” Kelsey told us, as our summers in the US is their rainy season.

Houndstooth, pink peonies , and a peplum dress the perfect recipe for a lakeside soiree. Catamount Ranch & Club played host to this preppy styled shoot that shows us the Rockies are the ideal backdrop for a country club wedding with altitude.
Embrace classic wedding styles, with a new twist. The design of this shoot came from wanting to incorporate a classic pattern, like houndstooth, and pair it with another bold style. The bright pink accents from the floral and napkins create the perfect contrast against the masculine print. Patterns are in for 2015, so play with their versatility and don’t be afraid to go bold! Mix traditional with modern for a wedding look that is 100% you.

Fresh Picked Wedding Inspiration
Peaches, Blackberries, and a Farm - oh my!
Lyon’s Farmettte dressed up to host this peachy affair. The location’s natural and organic landscape was the perfect template for this design. Honeybee Photography described the look as “A color palate of peach, soft white, tones of greens and hints of purple created a landscape of rich, deep colors. Peaches set alongside blackberries added contrast and fullness to the table while complimenting the soft white setting.” Be inspired by the farm’s of Colorado. Use their scenery and raw beauty to create a wedding look that captures the fresh and vibrant looks of the season. Instead of a color being your theme, let fruit dictate your wedding’s style and palette!

Burrata and Prosciutto salad with black mission and Turkish figs finished with toasted hazelnuts and a pomegranate molasses vinaigrette
POINT | gallery, located in the Sante Fe Art District, inspired this stylized shoot. Szymecko used the raw materials and backdrop of the gallery to showcase her work as Design and Creative Manager. “ I loved using the textures and materials that already existed in the space for the design and décor. We used an artist’s distressed metal table from the working studio in the back of the gallery as the table top. I chose contrasting patterned china with ornate silvers and dark blue geometric patterns to play off the cool tones of the metals to enhance and oppose the industrial feel. The flowers were inspired by the colors of the fall season, with deep burgundy and dark purples in the Astilbes. Instead of a traditional centerpiece, I created a family-style salad down the middle of the table. The bosc pear on the china was to bring one more life element to the industrial inspiration on the table.”

The 16,000 square foot jewel at the top of Mary Jane Territory will feature a 250-seat restaurant, 150-seat heated deck, and spectacular views of the Continental Divide. Nestled far below Lunch Rock is Winter Park’s quaint mountain village, which features dining, shopping, and fun for the whole family regardless of the season. In winter, the Village is alive with ice skating, free S’mores, and easy access to Coca-Cola Tubing, while in summer, myriad events like the Village Uncorked wine festival, Whiskey & Wings, and High Altitude Flame Thrower’s Chili Festival keep things hopping throughout the year. The mountain is also busy with activity in the summer months, thanks to Trestle Bike Park, one the country’s top-rated playgrounds for mountain bike riders of all ages and abilities. In addition to Trestle, summer guests can enjoy a number of base activities including the state’s longest Alpine Slide and a new putting course, all of which makes Winter Park Resort a great mountain getaway any time of year.

Emerald &

An Engagement Soiree with Couture Colorado
You’re Cordially Invited... Originally built in 1915, the Colorado National Bank has been transformed into the Renaissance Denver Downtown City Center Hotel, the perfect place for a swanky engagement soiree. A collaboration between Couture Colorado and RMB, the look was inspired by the color palette of emerald and gold. As Rocky Mountain Bride turns twenty (yay!) in 2015, the emerald was a nod to our anniversary. The gold was a natural complement, as the Renaissance Denver Downtown is rich with gold both in its design and wild west history. We believe engagements are one of the most exciting times in the wedding process and should be celebrated! Once you have the rock, plan a night out to help kickstart the wedding countdown. Choose fun colors for the look and a location that can transition easily from dinner to drinks.

The Palette: Emerald Green & Gold
Look for this color combination to be a trending style in 2015 weddings. As we see weddings start to bring back a classic elegance, gold will continue to be a big part of the wedding design, as it pairs beautifully with bold colors, and on its own is pure glam.

Honeymoon Auberge du Soleil Napa Valley
118 rockymountainbride.com
Rocky Mountain Bride Colorado
After your Rocky Mountain wedding, jet set over to Napa Valley for a five star Honeymoon experience. Auberge du Soleil is your ultimate destination - with gourmet dining, world-class wines, and all the amenities to make you feel like you are living in the lap of luxury, the Auberge experience is the perfect way to enjoy the married life. Auberge du Soleil is an elegant country inn nestled in a 33-acre sunlit olive grove on the slopes of Rutherford Hill, on the eastern verge of the Napa Valley. Boasting extraordinary views, hillside walkways that wind through olive groves and sculpture gardens, elegant cottages, an intimate spa and unparalleled service, the Auberge sets the standard for gracious hospitality. Its Michelin-starred restaurant, one of the first great Wine Country establishments, pays tribute to its legacy with an award-winning menu and wine list. Luxurious accommodations, exceptional cuisine and service earn Auberge du Soleil recognition year after year as one of the world’s most renowned small luxury hotels. Sun- and earth-toned maisons house 50 one- and two-bedroom suites, each with its own terrace and view overlooking the vine-studded valley. Each features a wood-burning fireplace, refrigerator stocked with regional wines and cheeses; espresso maker and gourmet snacks. Oversized bathrooms feature skylights, separate stall showers, massive tubs (some with Jacuzzis), double sinks, oversized towels and thick terry robes. Two private hillside cottages, one offering two bedrooms and the other featuring a private fitness studio, provide guests the ultimate in spacious accommodations and exceptional amenities. La Plage, the Auberge’s luxe pool and outdoor living room, is a sexy, laid-back venue for lounging poolside on oversized chaises and soaking in the sunshine. Other amenities include an outdoor whirlpool; steam rooms; fitness center and tennis court. Nearby are golf courses and riding stables and miles of hiking and biking trails, including the historic Silverado Trail, one of California’s top cycling routes. Napa Valley also offers many points of historical interest, such as the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum in St. Helena and the Sam Brannan House in Calistoga. Art galleries, boutiques for clothes and gifts, antiques and home furnishings, and numerous wine country souvenir shops are to be found in each of the towns in the valley.

Relax
at the 7,000-square-foot Auberge Spa that offers couples a tranquil retreat that embraces the inn’s lush setting. Private gardens bring the outdoors into the treatment rooms, and infinity-edge soaking pools inspire couples to relax while gazing down at the vineyards of Napa Valley. Treatments feature ingredients indigenous to the vineyards, valleys, olive groves and gardens of the region, and every treatment is delivered with a nurturing touch and caring attitude. For the lovebirds, we recommend trying the Auberge Spa’s Fireside Lovers Retreat Package. Begin with 2 hours of our signature Auberge Head to Toe in the deluxe Melisse Suite. Continue your time together post treatment with an extra hour of private time in the suite sipping sparkling wine and delighting in a sensuous plate of culinary treats prepared by our Chef while relaxing by the fire or soaking in a private hot tub overlooking a panoramic view of the Napa Valley below. As a memento of your experience, each will receive a signature robe as a gift to take home.
Dining
at Auberge du Soleil’s Napa Hotel is a culinary experience. The 120-seat Michelin-starred Auberge du Soleil Restaurant and Bistro & Bar showcase spectacular vistas from one of the best vantage points in the valley. Chef Robert Curry creates Wine Country cuisine that reflects the natural diversity and rich ingredients of Napa Valley and draws from regional produce, accented with Mediterranean flavors. Sommelier Kris Margerum’s wine list is the largest and most extensive in the valley and showcases the very best from neighboring vineyards. Adjacent to the restaurant, the Bistro & Bar offers more casual fare in a cozy, atmosphere or outdoors on the wraparound deck. For the refined palette, we highly recommend the Six Course Chef’s Tasting Menu with the Wine Pairing. Each bite blends beautifully with the wine and will leave you saving each taste. No dinner is complete with a sweet ending. The dessert menu is a work of art. Sample the Five Artisan Cheese presented with house baked breads, marcona almonds, fresh and dried fruits foe those that enjoy savory. For those with a sweet tooth, the Chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse, Cocoa Génoise, Caramel, Nougat, Milk Sorbet paired with a 2006 Philip Togni “Ca Togni” Sweet Red Wine is the most decadent way to end a fabulous day at Auberge du Soleil.
