The McCall area is characterized by mild summers and cold, snowy winters. The average temperatures and humidity in McCall are influenced by Payette Lake. Prepare your guests for unpredictable weather in the summer when afternoon rain showers are more prevalent. Snow begins in November and generally lasts until April. Like most of the Rocky Mountain regions, fall and summer are generally the best times to visit McCall. When planning your wedding, make sure guests are well prepared for varying temperatures no matter the time of year.

Erin + Cody Erin and Cody’s shared passion for horses is what brought them together. It was only fitting that Cody proposed to Erin in Fort Worth, Texas at the historic stockyards under the stars after a competition with their horses. The two are planning a wedding in McCall at No Business Lodge, a ranch situated in the heart of the Boise and Payette National Forests.

Faye + Jake
Faye and Jake are high school sweethearts whose love stood the test of time. They originally met in a drawing class and dated for five years before their engagement. Jake planned an intimate picnic proposal at a reservoir surrounded by towering evergreen trees that was both beautiful and sweet. Nature plays an important role in their love story, which is reflected during their lighthearted engagement photos. From skateboarding through the trees to taking a quick dip in Payette Lake, Faye and Jake’s engagement photos embrace the quiet beauty and diverse nature views of McCall.

KATIE + JACK Katie and Jack’s love story began in college at the University of Idaho where they dated for two years. Sadly, they broke up after college for eight years, but rekindled their flame when Katie moved back to Boise. The rest is history! Jack proposed to Katie on a snowy December day in Sun Valley, Idaho during a trip to Katie’s parents home. Because Katie’s family was all in town for the holidays, they spent each day going on a snowshoe walk for some exercise. On this day, no one wanted to go, so Jack and Katie went alone. Katie’s dream was for a private proposal, so Jack proposing on the walk was the perfect proposal. Jack was sure to not lose the ring in the snow, so he took it back from Katie for their walk back to her parent’s house where Katie’s family was waiting to celebrate the newly engaged couple.

Winter is a special time in Katie and Jack’s relationship, which is why a New Years Eve wedding at Shore Lodge in McCall was perfect for them as a couple. Katie and Jack woke up to a blanket of fresh white snow on their wedding day, and spent the morning together reading their vows privately together and soaking in the magic of the day before the official wedding festivities.

ADVICE TO FUTURE COUPLES “You can’t take it too seriously! There are bound to be a few things that don’t go as planned and in order to enjoy your day you have to be a little flexible! Do not be afraid to delegate to friends and family, and hire a wedding planner!”
From disco balls glistening on every table to the classic white florals arranged by Rust + Thistle floral, Samantha at Sprout Design Wedding made Katie and Jack’s timeless wedding vision come to life. While a holiday wedding is not always traditional, Katie and Jack’s wedding day was filled with nothing but celebration as they partied the night away with their closest friends and family to start the New Year as a married couple.

EMILY + ROSS Emily and Ross met their freshman year of college in a Plant Science 101 class at the University of Idaho. They dated for five years before Ross popped the question on Christmas Day at Emily’s parents house. Six months later, the two were wed in an intimate mountain wedding on a sunny summer June day. Emily’s vision for the wedding day was to incorporate feminine western themes. They also knew that they wanted photos that provided a film photography style, which was why Cassidy Logan Photography was the perfect choice to capture their wedding. There were only eight guests in attendance at Emily and Ross’ elopement, which made the day that much more special. The wedding day was perfect; from reading private vows together after the ceremony to dinner with family at a local restaurant that evening, their wedding was better than they could have ever imagined.

ADVICE TO FUTURE COUPLES “Don’t worry about following every single tradition or pressure from others about how your wedding should look. The day is supposed to be about the two of you, and it should reflect both of your personalities and styles. Be creative when you’re putting together the details - that’s what makes it unique to you!”

PERI + CHAD Peri and Chad were introduced in college by mutual friends. Their love story blossomed over the next three years before Chad proposed. They were skiing and hiking through their favorite secluded run through the trees, and while they were taking a break, Chad began taking off one of his skis. Peri was so confused at the time until he got down on one knee and proposed. They planned a lakeside, fairy garden inspired wedding on Payette Lake for June.

The two were married during a traditional ring ceremony at a location they picked out on Google Earth. While they felt like they were flying by the seats of their pants, it ended up being the most magical day of their lives. Peri and Chad celebrated the rest of their wedding day with a cruise on Payette Lake thanks to McCall Lake Cruises. Peri was grateful for the slowness of the wedding day, and the week leading up to the wedding, because she was able to soak in every moment with the people who she cherishes most in life.

MCKENNA + MATTHEW McKenna and Matthew first met at the University of Idaho through a church group in early 2015 and became friends. Throughout the years, McKenna and Matthew would bump into each other from time to time. From football games to the occasional direct message, they always seemed to find a way to say hello. McKenna and her friends were headed to a favorite local bar on a Tuesday night three years after her and Matthew’s first meeting. Little did she know that she was going to run into the tall and handsome man she’d been running into for years! After a few drinks and lots of dancing, they were hooked. The very next day Matthew asked McKenna to lunch at their favorite gyro shop and the rest was history. They were attached at the hip for months until McKenna moved to Chicago to work for the Chicago Bulls while Matthew finished up his master’s degree and worked at an architecture firm in Boise, Idaho. After seven months and countless FaceTimes later, Matthew joined McKenna in Chicago to work for an architecture firm in the city. Two small-town people taking on the monster that is Chicago was not easy, but they fell more and more in love with each other and the city by the second. In December 2020, they brought home their English Springer Spaniel named Wrigley. They had the home, they had the dog and on April 16th, 2022 in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin - Matthew made it official with the most beautiful ring McKenna had ever seen!

McKenna and Matthew said “I do” in front of all of their dearest friends and family back where it all began in Idaho on a beautiful August day. Their wedding day was straight out of a dream; as the chapel doors opened it was as if the world stopped, and it was only McKenna, Matthew and their love. They say rain is good luck on your wedding day, which was exactly what happened when McKenna and Matthew began their wedding vows. The night continued to be filled with laughter, tears, lots of love and an endless amount of dancing under the big blue Idaho sky.

KELLI + DANNY Kelli and Danny met in their freshman year of high school thanks to Kelli’s best friend and her brother. Danny planned a surprise proposal with their closest friends and family members during a weekend trip to Star, Idaho at Sol Invictus Winery. Kelli and her family are big fans of the fall season, and try to do different things to celebrate fall, so a wine tasting was not out of the ordinary to Kelli. After Danny popped the question, they went back to Kelli’s parents house and celebrated all night long. They were married in an intimate fall ceremony in Ponderosa Park and celebrated their wedding with a reception at The Glass House.

Kelli and Danny knew they did not want a traditional big wedding, so they planned an elopement with only 20 guests in attendance. They brought no chairs or decorations to just enjoy the beautiful views at Ponderosa Park during the ceremony. Kelli incorporated moody and ethereal themes with forest influences, which was reflected in the green, black and gold colors thoughtfully placed throughout the day. From the modern architecture of the glass house to the forest green cake decorated with romantic flowers provided by Bloom and Boom Florals, the details of Kelli and Danny’s wedding day were a perfect reflection of them as a couple.

“My favorite memory of the day was truly how everyone in attendance felt the love and magic of our wedding day. It was truly so beautiful, emotional and perfect. Our guests kept telling us how they could just feel the happiness in Danny and I that day. I understand why people say their wedding day is the best day of their lives now. I have never felt so much joy, cried so many happy tears, danced so much or had more fun with the people I love!”
