I’m big on the actual meaning of a celebration, and the purpose thereof. I don't like doing something or going along with something if I don't understand the purpose. In fact, I think the only A+ I ever got in college was in speech class, EHFDXVH RI KRZ ÂżUHG XS DQG SDVVLRQDWH , ZDV ZKLOH PDNLQJ D VSHHFK DERXW living with purpose. Plus, I gave out books to each of my classmates to help them live a life of purpose. Of course, the book was called “The Purpose- Driven Life.â€? And it’s the meaning or the purpose of Christmas that really makes me want to celebrate. It’s a magical time of year for a reason! It’s why I can celebrate every day and feel such joy and peace all year round. I’m sure you know what I’m about to say and you’ve heard it before – but just open your heart and consider the gift. I believe people use the word “magicalâ€? because it's the best way they can describe something outside themselves that they don’t quite understand. It’s the power of love! Everyone, no matter their beliefs or religion, can agree that LOVE is the most powerful force on the planet. If you’ve ever studied the meaning of Christmas, you know the real heart of it hinges on an incredible display of love. I’m sure you’ve heard the most famous scripture about this tremendous gift from John 3:16 – “for God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.â€? ,I \RX ÂżQG WKDW &KULVWPDV LV QRW WKH PRVW ZRQGHUIXO WLPH RI WKH \HDU IRU \RX please consider receiving the most precious Christmas gift you could ever receive. It's wrapped in the form of an invitation to believe. Will you receive this gift and believe in the real meaning of Christmas? I sure hope so. With my whole heart, I’d like to say MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and yours!

"God gives us the desire to rodeo, but we want to do it for a reason." With a shared vision to glorify God, WPRA barrel racers Kendra Dickson and Chrystal Hall are reaching out to share their faith in Jesus Christ. In 2007, Dickson and Hall began organizing free barrel racing clinics and later co-Âfounded what is now known as “Rodeo For A Reason.â€? Since then, their team has grown substantially. Dickson and Hall both VWDQG ÂżUP LQ WKHLU YLVLRQ DQG WUXO\ believe that you can’t out-Âgive God. Therefore over the years, Rodeo For A Reason has given away horse trailers, saddles, buckles, headstalls and other great prizes. The organization has quickly spread across the country, representing Christ in both large and small settings. Each of the many equine professionals on the team use their individual skill sets to serve a greater cause and reach people in need. ...my favorite time of the year is here.
So my favorite time of the year is here – the NFR. It's such a great way to culminate a very long year in professional rodeo. Pro rodeo cowboys from around the country come to Las Vegas to compete for a world championship amongst a plethora of other fans, team ropers and everyone in between. The atmosphere of Vegas is like no other. As soon as you drive over the hill and you see the lights of the city or you À\ LQ DQG VHH WKH JROG DFFHQWV RI WKH South Point, your heart – or at least my heart – beats just a touch faster. As the actual NFR cowboys descend on the city, I can't even imagine what goes through their minds. And that's what brings me to the theme of this article – when you have to ask yourself, "What were they thinking?" How many times have we yelled at the TV screen during a football game or a basketball game (or any sporting event for that matter), wondering what in the heck that certain player or team was doing? Well, I’ve even caught myself doing that at the NFR at certain times, especially in the team roping. Whether it's a header reaching too far or a heeler throwing too fast, if it works, then they’re heroes. If it doesn’t – if they miss or rope a leg – then Â
we can't believe they made the Finals. It's such a double standard and it annoys me. However, I’m not going to get on a VRDS ER[ EHFDXVH , HYHQ VRPHWLPHV wonder what some cowboys are thinking more after the rodeo than during ,¶P UHIHUULQJ WR WKHLU H[WUDFXUULFXODU activities). Take a walk through the South Point;; check out Cowboyville at the Mandalay Bay or the Gold Buckle Zone at the MGM after the rodeo, and you’ll see cowboys and cowgirls alike having a blast and partaking in adult beverages and activities. At that moment, I ask myself, “What are WKH\ WKLQNLQJ NQRZLQJ WKH QH[W GD\ WKH\ have to rope or ride for a world title or DW OHDVW LQ GD\ PRQH\"´ $QG directly after that moment is when I say to myself, "Shut it Anthony! You shut your big mouth, you silly former monkey brother." Why, you ask? Don’t I seem to have a valid point? Well, no. Because I’ve talked to enough contestants to know something about what happens to them. 7KH UHDOL]DWLRQ WKDW \RX¶UH LQ WKH WRS and going to compete at the NFR is a feeling that generally doesn't set in until you actually get to Vegas. And in general, letting loose and having fun is part of being a cowboy (or cowgirl). Not to the degree of endangering Â

yourselves or others;; I mean, it doesn't have to be drinking or partying. It can be a nice dinner with family and friends;; maybe a theme park ride at the top of the Stratosphere;; or maybe just some ice cream on your way back up to the room. The whole 10 days in Vegas is a celebration of the greatest cowboys and cowgirls in pro rodeo. This year, I for one am going to do less worrying or asking myself "what were they thinking" both in the arena and out. Instead, I'm going to celebrate with them, enjoy more events and happenings, and live it up when I make my trip to the NFR this year. Those contestants have earned the right to whatever they dang well please. So let's judge less and encourage more. See y'all at the NFR – the place where champions are made and legends are born.

DENNISON 4 Things You Didn’t Know About This Rookie NFR Barrel Racer By the time you read this article, 22-year-old Kassidy Dennison will be competing at her ¿UVW :UDQJOHU 1)5 *LYH KHU PLQXWHV DQG this charming young lady will inspire you with her outlook on life and leave you believing that dreams were meant to be pursued and realized. She has a tight-knit family. My family has played a tremendous role in my success. My dad, Karl, was coaching college rodeo, but he took this year to focus on me because I needed D GULYHU +H VWLOO KDG FDWWOH DW KRPH DQG ZRXOG À\ back and forth. I thought that was neat of him to make that commitment. My brother Kyle came out and drove. My sister Devyn does all the public relations. Each one of them, including my mom, Debbie, plays a special role and without them none of this would be possible. She’s got an inspiring purpose behind her rodeo career. The reason I wanted to push towards making the NFR is because I thought LW ZRXOG EH SUHWW\ XQLTXH WR EH RQH RI WKH ¿UVW Native American women to make it. When I was frustrated (this year) I would remember that making the NFR wasn’t just for me, it was for other Native American girls. I want to encourage them to be better;; to go outside their comfort zone to be successful. I want them to know, simple as it sounds, to just keep pushing. That it’s important to push as hard at the end of something as you did in the beginning. She has plans to better the world around her. I plan on putting on schools and speaking motivationally to girls both on and off the reservation. I want to focus on helping other people be successful because I’ve met my goal. It was pretty hard to reach that far (for me), and I think I want to focus more on helping other people while I can. Her horse’s name is packed with symbolism. Isaiah 40:31 is my favorite verse, and I also believe in who I am as a Native American. I feel like eagles represent Indians world-wide, so I kind of put the two together. That’s why my horse’s name is Eagle. I think it’s special and unique.

RF: Why do you like this style? JRC: The comfort and space it provides. Also, I love having a Jeep to run around in.
RF: Do you rely on navigation in your Smartphone or know all the routes by heart? JRC: We rely on the phone or GPS and I try to drop a pin at every arena. Makes it way easier to get from place to place. Â
RF: Where in the trailer is your favorite place to hang out? JRC: At the dinette. RF: Is it a he or a she? JRC: It’s a HE! RF: Do you cook in it? RF: Any stories about being pulled over?
