PROGRAMS: Nursery Enrichment Programs: Programs for students in our Threes program that run in the afternoons from 12:00 pm through 2:00 pm After School Programs: For students in Pre-Kindergarten through 4th Grade with a variety of options. Most programs run from the end of the school day until either 4:30 pm (84th Street) or 4:45 pm (79th street), Monday–Thursday, and 3:45 pm (84th Street) or 4:00 pm (79th Street) on Fridays. After Care: For students in Pre-Kindergarten through 4th Grade. This program runs in the afternoons and students are supervised by a teacher and offered a light snack.

POLICIES: Cancellation/Withdrawal Policy Courses may be canceled due to insufficient enrollment. If this occurs, you will be notified and receive a credit. Otherwise, you should assume your child is enrolled in the class. We do NOT offer any refunds, including instances when after school programs conflict with school trips or for weather related cancelations. If you wish to withdraw your child within the first TWO weeks of the class, your account will be credited for the remaining classes. If it is determined that your child is NOT benefiting from the program, we may request that your child be withdrawn. In that case, tuition for the remainder of the semester will be credited to your account. We do NOT prorate. If your child enters a class LATE, you will be charged the full amount. Dismissal Parents are expected to arrange for their child’s punctual pickup. Students in classes at 79th Street who are picked up late more than two times will be charged the After Care rate of $25 per day. 1
NURSERY ENRICHMENT Fall/Winter Semester: September 26, 2016–January 27, 2017 Nursery Enrichment is a wonderful extracurricular program for our students enrolled in our Threes program. We offer a variety of classes to extend the school day and provide children with the opportunity to try something new while socializing within the familiar comfort of the RSS environment. Nursery Enrichment has two semester long sessions and students must re-apply for each semester. Snack A snack will be included for certain Enrichment classes, excluding Soccer, Tennis, Hip Hoppers and Simply Sports. Please indicate any dietary restrictions on the registration form. Dismissal Parents are expected to arrange for their child’s punctual pickup in the 83rd Street lobby. Cancellation/Withdrawal Policy Please note the cancellation/withdrawal policy on page 1. Children will work together to make tasty treats in the kitchen, all while enhancing their senses as they are asked to describe what they see, feel, smell and of course taste! Children will receive a cookbook with the recipes they have made on the last class to enjoy with their family and friends. Jackie is a teacher in the Early Childhood Division.

Whether we take a bus or subway in NYC, or a plane or spaceship to faraway places, kids are sure to have a great time exploring culture in America and abroad. Each week we’ll read a book, “get on” our means of transportation, explore our destination, and make a souvenir collage. Laurie is a teacher in the Early Childhood Division.

Instructor: Drama Zone Day/Time: Thursdays, 1:00–2:00 pm Taught by the pros at the DramaZone, children learn “cool moves” to many of their favorite songs to show off to friends and family. All music is age appropriate. Classes include a technical warm up great for coordination and focus with stretching and strengthening exercises as well as dance combinations sure to impress. Our dance classes teach counting, and focus on developing the confidence of each child. No experience is necessary and all talents welcome.

Instructor: Gotham Tennis Academy Day/Time: Fridays, 1:00–2:00 pm Gotham Tennis Academy is an innovator in using cutting edge instructional methods to introduce tennis to young children in a positive, supportive environment. Gotham teaches fundamental skillbuilding exercises, critical to creating early muscle memory. Red, Yellow, Blue and You

Instructor: Barbara Siegal Day/Time: Fridays, 1:00–2:00 pm Using books, songs, and art materials we will discuss and explore all different colors; we will focus on one color each week and do an art project with that color. Children will explore the world of colors and talk about all the colors in our world. (i.e. YELLOW: Sunshine, bananas, corn). We will learn about mixing colors to create new ones and experiment with paint, partnering our projects with videos and songs, as well as books (I.e. Mouse Paint and My Many Colored Days). AFTER SCHOOL Fall/Winter Semester: September 26, 2016–January 27, 2017 After School at RSS provides the opportunity for RSS students to participate in extracurricular activities organized through the school when the classroom day ends. Programming includes classes for students in PreKindergarten through 4th Grade, Monday through Friday, on and off campus. Snack A light snack is included in all programs. Please indicate any allergies/dietary restrictions for your child. Dismissal All classes for Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade will dismiss in the 84th street lobby at the designated time. All classes for 2nd-4th Grade will dismiss in the 79th street lobby, unless otherwise noted in the brochure. Children must be checked out by the after school teachers. Children who are NOT picked up on time will wait in the lobby. If you are late to pick up more thant 2 times, you will be charged the After Care rate of $25 per hour. After Care If you are not interested in any of the after school programs, you may choose to enroll in after care, which is offered Monday-Friday at the rate of $25 session. Your child will be supervised by an after-school teacher and will be given a light snack. If you are interested in signing up, please contact Allison Fass. In this class, the children will sculpt, craft, collage, paint and decorate unique pieces made from an assortment of materials. We will have 13 weeks of different kinds of books and creations to show. “The more that you read, the more things you will know. Instructor: Kate Tempesta’s Urban Golf Academy Day/Time: Thursdays, 2:45–3:45 pm Join Kate Tempesta’s Urban Golf Academy’s to PLAY golf! Our dynamic methods include combining a variety of child-friendly, modified equipment with traditional equipment in a mixture of fun, creative golf drills and games. Players learn and practice the four basic shots which provides an overall introduction to golf fundamentals including how to hold a golf club, proper swing posture, proper set up, aim and alignment, as well as rules and etiquette. As children grow with the program, classes include coaching on pre-shot routine and scoring. We maintain a low student to coach ratio so that all activities and exercises appropriately reinforce and challenge students’ developing skills. Our program promotes physical literacy needed in any sport, while also ensuring that each child is actively engaged and having fun. 12

Every class is an adventure. We pretend to be paleontologists and dig for fossils. We make our own exploding volcanoes. We become architects and build a super city. We go on treasure hunts and build light up spaceships. Each week, children leave with their own tailor-made project that is a source of accomplishment and joy. Our hands on classes are both engaging and educational for boy and girls. New projects are featured each semester so your children can continue the learning experience.

Gotham is at the forefront of a dramatic new way of teaching beginners and advanced beginners the game of tennis. Gotham utilizes the USTA’s 10 and Under format with USTA- approved low pressure balls, mini-nets and age/level appropriate drills. Gotham teaches fundamental skill-building exercises, which are critical to creating early muscle memory. Gotham’s qualified pros are selected very carefully and understand the importance of young players having a lot of fun, while developing confidence and learning the game of tennis. By the completion of the Gotham Tennis Program, your child can expect to see significant improvement in the areas of eye-hand coordination, footwork proficiency, basic stroke movements, and a basic understanding of tennis rules. *5 person minimum.

Kindergarten and 1st Grade - Mondays Musical Theater: Peter Pan

Instructor: DramaZone Day/Time: Mondays, 3:15-4:30 pm Come join Wendy and her brothers as they are whisked away to the magical world of Neverland to meet Peter Pan. Children have fun putting on a show for friends and family on the last class. Every class includes singing, dancing and acting! All talents welcome and group numbers are emphasized. Those with experience will be featured. Dancing teaches coordination, singing teaches rhythm and improves math through counting, while acting increases speech, diction and especially confidence. No experience necessary but all talents welcome.
Pre-Robotics

Instructor: RoboFun Day/Time: Mondays, 3:15-4:30 pm Younger students will enjoy experimenting with science while they learn to build playful motorized creations with LEGO®. Children will make ferris wheels that spin, trains that move, and birds that flap their wings! They will explore their creativity while developing new skills in problem solving, cooperative learning and STEM. *7 person minimum.
Roll America

Instructor: Roll America Day: Mondays Rollerblading/Skateboarding, (Sep. 26–Nov. 14), 3:15-5:00 pm, $275 Ice Skating, (Nov. 21–Jan. 23), 3:15–5:45 pm, $540 Join Joel’s Kids on Wheels for a fantastic rolling into ice program. During the fall rollerblading or skateboarding program, students will learn a new skill every week and play roller sports and games. The group will be separated into beginners and advanced to accommodate different levels. Note: Skaters are required to bring their own equipment including skates, helmet, wrist, elbow and kneepads. During Rollerblading/Skateboarding, all students dismiss from the 84th Street Lobby by 5:00 pm. In the winter, a bus will pick up the children at school and drive them to Chelsea Piers’ ice skating rink. Once there, we will don our skates and have over an hour of skating fun and instruction with our expert coaches. There 14
will be plenty of free skate time as well. Note: Students should wear suitable clothing, including gloves. Helmets (bike helmets are fine) and wrist protection are required. During Ice Skating, all students dismiss from the 84th Street Lobby by 5:45 pm. Students can sign up for just one type of skating or both! Kindergarten and 1st Grade - Tuesdays Dribbl Jr.

Instructor: Dribbl Day/Time: Tuesdays, 3:15–4:30 Dribbl Jr. stands out as a fun, recreational program where young athletesto-be can learn fundamental basketball skills in a positive and supportive environment. Coaches work closely with small groups to get the early athletes comfortable on the court while improving basic motor skills such as running and jumping. They will also learn sport-specific skills such as passing and ball-handling. Dribbl Jr. has an experienced staff and high coach to player ratio. *The class is limited to 15 students.
Inventions and Concoctions

Instructor: Art-n-Orbit Day/Time: Tuesdays, 3:15–4:30 Art-n-Orbit is a unique art and science program that focuses on children’s creative spirit while they learn the fundamentals of art and science. We explore the Universe, create spinning robots that zoom across the floor, conduct fun science experiments and much more. Our hands on classes are both engaging and educational for boys and girls. Hip Hop

Instructor: Andre Lee Day/Time: Tuesdays, 3:15–4:30 This fast paced, up tempo class will center around hip-hop movement and will teach children the hottest dance steps. Every class consists of a high energy stretch, fun dance routines set to your favorite songs, and entertainment dance games. The semester will end in a performance for the students’ parents. Instructed by dance professional Andre Lee, who has performed with music superstars, Shakira, Usher and Rihanna.
Kindergarten and 1st Grade - Wednesdays Movie Making

Instructor: Take Two Film Academy Day/Time: Wednesdays, 3:15-4:30 pm Lights, Camera, Action! Learn how to make and act in a film with Take Two Film Academy. Students work together to create, act, shoot and edit their own short films. At the end of the semester, students will have at least one film that they’ve made, put on a DVD and posted online. Professional equipment, cameras, audio and editing software is provided. This is a great way for aspiring actors and directors to start learning this important new literacy.
Junior Explorers

Instructor: Mad Science Day/Time: Wednesdays, 3:15-4:30 pm Join Mad Science this session and discover why science is the real star on the big screen. You’ll create cool sound effects and build your very own robot hand to take home in a class that focuses on technology. Harness the sun’s heat and ramp up a power generation station. Get linked in to a network and work with radio signals. Conduct hands on experiments that will provide the opportunity to explore the force of gravity and even defy gravity! Some of the classes in this session include: Movie Effects, The Science of Magic, Sonic Sounds, Optical Illusions, Wacky Water, The Science of Toys, Radical Robots, The Science of Art, Great Gravity and Get Connected.

Think Like A Coder

Instructor: Launch Day/Time: Wednesdays, 3:15-4:15 pm Calling all future coders! Using the ScratchJr tablet app, budding computer scientists build a foundation in computer programming. It all starts with the design of customized characters, the changing of backgrounds, and the testing of motion blocks as the kids get a grasp of the basics. Next these mini-coders explore more complex skills such as sequencing motion blocks and creating interactions between characters, with the end goal of putting their own spin on an interactive story or game! Each session includes unplugged activities that enable the kids to problem-solve and explore programming logic away from the computer screen as well! *Note: class runs from 3:15 to 4:15 pm.
Kindergarten and 1st Grade - Thursdays Simply Sports

Possibilities include sledding, snow sculptures, an Explorers-only style of “fishing” (conditions permitting) and an original variety of awesome outdoor games & activities! Our dynamic methods include combining a variety of child-friendly, modified equipment with traditional equipment in a mixture of fun, creative golf drills and games. Players learn and practice the four basic shots which provides an overall introduction to golf fundamentals including how to hold a golf club, proper swing posture, proper set up, aim and alignment, as well as rules and etiquette. During the fall rollerblading or skateboarding program, students will learn a new skill every week and play roller sports and games. The group will be separated into beginners and advanced to accommodate different levels. Note: Skaters are required to bring their own equipment including skates, helmet, wrist, elbow and kneepads. During Rollerblading/Skateboarding, all students dismiss from the 84th Street Lobby by 5:00 pm.
In the winter, a bus will pick up the children at school and drive them to Chelsea Piers’ ice skating rink. Once there, we will don our skates and have over an hour of skating fun and instruction with our expert coaches. There will be plenty of free skate time as well. Note: Students should wear suitable clothing, including gloves. Helmets (bike helmets are fine) and wrist protection are required. During Ice Skating, all students dismiss from the 84th Street Lobby by 5:45 pm. Students can sign up for just one type of skating or both!
