Get lost It’s all for charity Natasha Cellupica-Towers, our new Comms intern writes:

Fancy a challenge? Fancy getting LOST? On the 24th of February the RSU are dropping teams of adventurous students in the middle of an unknown location. Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, will be to find your way back to the University base as QUICK AS YOU CAN.

sign up closing on the 3rd of February 2017, so get recruiting! Once you’re all signed up, all you’ll need to do is email your names, dates of birth and t-shirt sizes to Ben Patterson at ben.patterson@ roehampton.ac.uk, pay your £15 deposits and raise at least £70 for our RAG charities. Then you’re good to go! Teams will leave the University at 5.30am on the 24th of February and be dropped into the secret location. From there, it’s down to you. Everyone will be tracked by our team at HQ, with a live map on the RSU website, so all of our students can keep up to date with our teams’ progress!

Getting to campus just got easier

But here’s the catch… You can’t spend any money on travel at all. You will need to find other ways of getting back. Maybe you’ll be able to hitchhike a lift, maybe you’ll be able to persuade a friendly bus driver for a couple of tickets. It’s really up to you! Plus, this year we’re going to crank it up a notch by DOUBLING the distance that you’ll have to travel. Speed and time will be of the essence.

One of the fantastic things about all of our RAG events, is that all of our fundraising will go straight to our RAG charities! Last year LOST raised over £2465.00 for charity alone, so if the adrenaline and excitement isn’t enough for you, the great cause behind it surely is!

Of course, things are never as easy as they seem. There will also be challenges along the way such as checking in at certain locations. Last year only one of our teams managed to complete all of their challenges on their way back. So the game is well and truly on.

So, get going! Get your team of 2 or 3 students together and visit the RSU website at roehamptonstudent. com/lost to get started.

Puppy room success To pick you up when you felt melon-collie RSU Events Intern, Keia Blake writes:

Thank you for making the puppy room so special. We had 6 canines on the day from the charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and they were troopers throughout the day, playing and cuddling right until the end.

4

We tried to fit as many people in as possible, but we know that many students were disappointed not to get a ticket. So… On the 9th May, the puppy room will return.

Accommodation

Fair

Home sweet home George Cole writes:

It’s that time of year again, the academic year is coming to its end and you need to think about where you are living next year. Well don’t worry! The University and Union are hosting the accommodation fair on 27th of Feb in Digby Diner from 3.30pm to 7pm. This is a great chance for you to get to know everything you need about living off campus whilst also meeting the local landlords. Do not miss out!

Whitelands market day A growhampton extravaganza e kicked off the new term this year with a great Market Day Extravaganza event down on Whitelands College. Although the weather was a bit chilly, we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day; the sun was shining and people were smiling.

Taking place on the 2nd March, we will celebrate everything Fairtrade as we put on our third Market Day Extravaganza during Fairtrade Fortnight, this time on Froebel College. Expect all our usual stalls, veg, eggs, rock’n’roll, and more! Until then, you can find our weekly market as usual in Digby Square from 12-2pm.

One of our most popular stalls this time belonged to the Japanese Society who were selling their incredibly tasty Japanese pancakes, or Okonomiyaki as they are originally called. We highly recommend you to try

If you are student group or society that would like to get involved with our markets, or you are just looking for some more information, please check out our web page: Growhampton.com
