R.A.G Week
get your charity on Ben Patterson, Student activities intern writes:
RAG week is an annual week of fundraising that goes towards the three elected RAG charities selected by you. RAG week always offer crazy events, whether they are weird and wacky challenges for students to take part in, or live versions of TV game shows. This year is no different! A variety of events are happening all around campus! So what can you look forward to?
Our first main event is the college apprentice, which puts colleges in a head to head battle to see who can raise the most money over two days. This event has been a regular for Roehampton RAG for years, and has led to some incredible individual fundraising from college officers and students! One of our highlights for RAG week is our live Take Me Out show! This show has a number of student volunteers participating in our version of the popular TV hit, as males try and impress females to try and get a date! This is the second time we are hosting this event. Keep an eye out for people with collection pots for RAG throughout the week! All the money goes towards a good cause!
ideas
a new way to put your motions forward Iain Pullar, Membership Services Manager writes:
Do you have a great Idea? Will the Idea benefit Roehampton Students? Then all you have to do is go to roehamptonstudent.com/ ideas! All students can then up-vote or
down-vote Ideas to make them reality. The RSU will then campaign, lobby and try to implement your idea to improve your student experience.
It’s that simple. So what are you waiting for? go and submit your amazing Ideas. 3
rep fest join our new initiative Rep Fest is the annual student representative conference. It is an amazing half-day event jam packed with fun and inspirational speakers and breakout sessions! It is truly, fantastically and purposefully designed to provide reps with not only the tools to excel in their role – but also to provide the skills that will land them the dream job after they leave Roehampton. The whole Programme Rep system is based on the idea that
students are partners in their learning, and that they have the right to help shape the University experience. This is why the very most influential staff at the highest University level will be there to network with the very most influential students – the reps! This is truly their chance to ask the questions you want answered from the highest level. The breakout sessions will include a great variety workshops linked to different topics. These include
Urban wild
hosted by growhampton Celia Briseid, Growhampton Coordinator writes:
Growhampton has hosted it’s third Urban Wild Holiday Camp, together with our friends from Paradise Co-op, where a great bunch of kids visit our campus to learn and explore all what the outdoors has to offer. On Tuesday we build paths, learned all about seeds and fruit, and how trees communicate

giving the reps the tools to getting your point across in meeting , changing things in the lecture room, and digging deeper in to why employers are so interested in transferable skills, and where you can get some!
*They say actions speak louder than words, but words don’t speak. Students speak, and students are heard* with each other. On Wednesday we traveled to Richmond park for some deer stalking, and all of us experienced some amazing wildlife in their natural habitat.
“(I) Had the best time with Urban Wild this morning in Richmond Park ‘stalking’ Deer, spotting Green Woodpeckers and looking at the different fungi!” Hannah Coleman, 3rd year Education.

Let’s celebrate photo: kaya and phoebe during the let’s celebrate photoshoot George Cole, VP Community & Welfare:
November is here and this month we are focusing on celebrating our mental health! So many of our students every year struggle with their mental health. We want you to know of all the amazing things that you do well no matter what is going on in your life. We want our students who are feeling down, anxious or stressed to celebrate
their mental illness and support others throughout the month and throughout the year. We are running plenty of fun things throughout the month and we will be sharing mental health success stories to inspire others.

jailbreak how far can you get?
Jack De France, RSU President writes:
Jailbreak is great fun, something you will only ever get to do while at University! I’ve done three Jailbreaks and each one was an adventure in itself, leaving me with plenty of great stories to tell family and friends alike. The challenge is transport without cash. You can try trains, boats and planes. The most fun way to do it however, is hitchhiking. Sharing a
stranger’s car is exciting; you never know who you’re going to meet or what stories you’ll hear. I remember trying to explain to an elderly couple in German what we were doing, my translation of ‘Jailbreak’ was so bad I never found out if they thought we were actually escaping from jail… A group of Belgian dads once picked us up in a minibus on their way to watch their kids’ football match (they gave us free lager at 9 AM on a Saturday - we were loving it!) One of the most surreal moments of my life was the discovery of a
half-built mansion on the Spanish side of the Pyrenées, the place was massive but its construction had been halted halfway through; the mansion completely abandoned. We climbed the stairs to the top floor, the walls weren’t built so our view was perfect. We cosied up in our sleeping bags as the Spanish sun set, leaving a golden orange shine over the valley and surrounding mountains as we dozed off. Had I not done Jailbreak these spontaneous adventures would never have happened. Don’t miss it.

The Fresh Network team has been growing steadily over the past few weeks. We have set shows that are filmed every week, students are learning the basics of cameras and editing software with Fresh TV. There are time slots for weekly radio shows
that have been allocated, and we are still receiving articles for the magazine. Visit our website to keep up with what we are doing, or email Malika.kingston@ roehampton.ac.uk if you want to get involved and add something cool to your CV.
