IDENTIFICATION OF SITE
INFERENCES AND SITE POTENTIAL
Lack of hygiene is a common issue between all the classes of communities. No health care facilities such as clinics, hospitals or dispensaries around the context. the floating population can contribute to the economic conditions of the local koliwada communitiy. The tourist ramp and mandvi jetty can be revamped to improve acessibility which can then have connectivity to the adjoining street (used by the floating population).

Steps along the crescent can also act as retail selling areas. these are integrated with gutters and temporary storage spaces
Canopies of tensile roofing feature water harvesting facility so that the eatery areas can be self sufficient in terms of water supply
The levels provided essentially segregate the space. they form a crecent along which all the other activities are placed.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN - SEMESTER 5 The idea behind the desing was to create a market which is flexible interms of furture expansion or growth. The markets in Airoli lacked character, and hence it was necessary to bring a sense of character to the market, a sense of identity for Airoli’s market scene. It had to be amalgamated with the function of a public space, as markets form the ground of social interactions and the community tradition.

SOURCING OF MATERIALS
Team Parivartan’s first project was in collaboration with beraindrop an NGO whose initiative was to create interactive learning environments. As a design solution, the aim was to create spaces which allow the children to learn, ponder and explore as they step out of their orthodox classrooms. This will help them trigger their mental as well as physical traits! The concept of open classrooms was considered, an open space under the existing tree on site which can be used as a traditional classrooms (GURUKUL) and a interactive playing ares at the same time
The process started with clearing the site for execution of the design which took for about 3 days to complete. Most of the materials were sourced from junkyards which included un-used wooden crates, barels and scrap iron.

ABSTRACTED LOGO AS A LANDSCAPING FEATURE
SEM 5 LANDSCAPE EXCERCISE LOGO ABSTRACTION
A The elevated model can be used as a landscaping feature. it can either be used in spaces such as parks, or public squares or even office complexes.
Original Aadhar Logo
Reduction of circular lines in the thumb print. Prominent lines taken into consideration with respect to the line thickness. Redcution of petals to such an extent that it maintains the overall idea of the original logo
further abstraction of petals and lines integrated that are together.
Clay model generated to understand the sense of space, a water body is added to the composition to bring in an aspect of balance and essentially use it as a landscaping feature.
PROCESS

B

ABSTRACTED MODEL
FURNITURE DESIGN SEM 6 ELECTIVES EXCERCISE EASY FOLD TABLE The easy fold table gives us three furniture units in one, it can be used as a centre table, a seating unit and a storage unit as well. Its minimalistic elements and quick folding mechanism makes it an elegant and easy to use furniture unit. Manufactured with a combination of aluminium square sections and plywood makes sure that the unit is durable as well as aesthetically pleasing
MATERIAL 15mm thick plywood finished with wood varnish. -1inch aluminium square sections – coated with black matt spray paint
SIZE Height - 1.5 ft Width – 1 ft Length – 3
The unit when folded, acts like a storage unit, a centre table and a single use seating unit, all at once. One can sit on it or use it as a back rest while sitting on the floor. The folded unit forms an enclosed ccompartment for storage where common household things can be kept (shoes, newspapers, etc.) as seen in the first picture. The unit when unfolded, multiplies itself and forms a double seating unit. This ease of modularity makes it a good option where there is a space constraint. The easy fold table hence adds a element of flexibility within the space.

NURTURING CHILDHOO WITH NATURE LANDSCAPE FOUNDATION - STUDENT COMPETITION Versova koliwada is a thriving fishing villlage in Mumbai, an otherwise bustling and growing city. It is the oldest fishing communities and still maintians a unique cultural presence in the city.
About 35% of the populatiion in Versova comprises of children in the age group of 5-15 years. Due to the current situation the children remain unexposed to natural elements such as the wind, water, rock, pebbles, mud or grass which can prove to be vital for their overall growth
Urban fabric in bersova is completely overtaken the environmental aspects of the place. It its dominated moslty by huge concrete buildings, unorganised growth in settlements resulting in lack of open spaces and poor street scape.
SITE Site used as a dumping zone.
Poor street scape and urban fabric

SITE SITE PICUTRES
23
Dead space with huge poential, enough light and ventilation due to the absence of large structures in the immediate context.
CONCEPT
DESIGN
The idea of this project is to amalgamate those natural elemts with the ‘identity’ of Versova, by using the wrecked passenger boats available on the site. This brings in a sense of familiarity and unfamilarity at once. The Boat brings in a sense of familarity for the kids whereas, the textures are very unfamiliar to the children of Versova
The old wrecked and abandoned boats on the site can be used as a source for constructing the design.
The design showacases intimacy and attachment, and also exposes the children to the elements which do not belong to the context Versova koliwada

India has a large repository of built heritage which is diverse and vast. The architecture of Maharashtra dates back to 17th and 18th century. It has high architectural and cultural significance.
