RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS PERSPECTIVES – ART, INFLAMMATION AND ME Subject: 2013 - Prodution Design

Attended by IADE in a global campaign, developed by the international company AbbVie, which all joined the more than 170 art pieces created by several students and artists from 40 different countries. The project was intended to express, through the artistic production, the impact of IMID in patients' lives. I chose to address rheumatoid arthritis, showing in formal proposal, the exposure and control signals while on medication, this chronic disease. My piece was selected among 30 others and will be presented in a limited event in San Diego, USA and will remain on international tour during 2014. It will also be integrated in an educational and interactive book by AbbVie. Once the tour is completed in 2014, this piece will be auctioned off and all the proceeds will go to the Arthritis Foundation.

3D Max Render

CHARACTER IN 3D MAX GRAVITY Subject: 2013 - Digital Methods of Representation

In Digital Representation Methods, we were asked to draw a character from a book or movie and build this character in three dimensions using the software 3D Max. I decided to create a character that represented a book I had read in a short time ago, the book "Fragile" by Jodi Picoult. The story is of a child who suffers from Osteogenesis Imperfecta, which is a major bone fragility. This means the child has been deprived of a childhood life and in the smallest act such as a sneeze, can cause him to break several ribs. I began to think of the best way to show this lack of freedom due to the fragility of the body when I had the idea to portray this story through a bird, not only for being the freest animal in the world as one of the most fragile. The materials I chose to use were mostly transparent glass to show the inside of each of us and because of its fragility.

3 types of wine

MOON - NEW DRINK COMMUNICATION FOR A NEW WINE Subject: 2014 - Communication Design

It was in subject of Communication Design I realized that Visual Design is the area of design I enjoy the most. The project to be developed was to create a drink of my chose. To start, I had to follow a methodology of work that began with the development of a mood board and persona in order to explain the concept and the target to which my drink was intended for. In the end and in order to finish the work, we had to make a brand book which would include not only the mood board and persona, but also the logo and its rules and regulations. I chose to create the drink ‘Moon’, a line composed of three types of wine. This line is directed to Young-Adult consumers, which is distinct from the masses. The ideal setting to consume this wine would be a dinner between friends to start the evening and extend into the night, until the arrival of the moon and accompanied by its moonlight. This is how I arrived at the name ‘Moon’ for this product.

iCINEMA MAGAZINE NEW MAGAGINE Subject: 2014 - Communication Design

This project was developed in the second year of my degree, in the subject of Communication Design. The project was to create a magazine which belonged to a Portuguese newspaper (Jornal I), however, this had only one edition and his theme was freely chosen. After defining my subject (cinema), I began by selecting the films that I would put in this single issue to which had a page limit and part of them had to be filled with advertising. My choice of films consisted of visual images that had the same color and consistency between them, as well as the fact that the movies are some of my election films. After I had defined my layout as well as the font and color palettes, I started to work in Adobe InDesign where I developed the magazine. This was the project that I liked the most to develop because besides not having limits on the issue to address, I was given complete freedom in the layout to develop. It was the first project in which I could put part of me, my love for cinema and the minimalist design that I appreciate the most.

IADE-U DUPLEX MAQUETTE PROPOSAL Subject: 2014 - Environments Design

This project was developed in the third year of my degree, discipline of Environments Design. This project was developed by all students in IADE. We had to use two of the buildings classrooms and transform them into a duplex where teachers or students who come from abroad to a conference or lecture could live in for a maximum period of two weeks. The duplex had to consist of; at least two bedrooms, one male and one female, which had to have room for at least two people, a kitchen, an eating area, a study space, a socializing space and a bathroom. I tried to draw the home as symmetrical and as simple as possible, and try as possible not use diverse furniture because part of it belongs to the own wall. We started by surveying the space and producing it in Autocad, followed by a mood board with the spirit of our work. Finally, a maquette proposal to explain the duplex and then created in 3D. This project brought together several design areas which allowed us to develop many skills.

THINKING OUT LOUD KINETIC TYPOGRAPHY Subject: 2014 - Multimedia Design

This project was developed in the discipline of Multimedia Design. We had to choose a piece of movie or music and do a kinetic typography in which we would only resort to using typography as a means of representing the music or movie. I chose to pursue music, "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran and tried the kinetic typography that represents the softness of music and what it gives us. For this I chose to use only one font, “BodoniXT", because it is something classic yet timeless. I used white, grey and blue to highlight some letters. The program I used was Adobe After Effects, which in the beginning was complicated to understand, but I easily realized how it works and could explore some of its capabilities. I can send the file if you would like to see and understand better what this work is about.

HIROSHIMA BY NAOTO FUKASAWA Subject: 2014 - Contemporary Design

I developed this project in the subject of Contemporary Design. We had to chose a designer that we appreciated and make a presentation on his or her career as well as a creating a piece of art that would give continuity to his or her work. I chose the equipment designer, Naoto Fukasawa. I appreciate the elegance and simplicity of his work. In general, I appreciate Japanese minimalist art and how they preserve nature. The area which I especially appreciate is visual, so I chose to develop two posters that represented the launch of a new piece of his furniture. In the first poster I amplified the image of the chair as a way to build suspense in the public so that they would want to know the chair as a whole. In the second poster I decided to make a piece of art to advertising, this could be present in a magazine.

PURE ALMOND WEBSITE PROPOSAL Subject: 2015 - Multimedia Design

This was a complete project that I developed in the third year of my degree, in Multimedia Design. The teacher asked us to design a website and then make a video to explain how it was created and how you search and move through the pages. The theme was free and as I love everything about natural products and to all that comes from nature, I chose to use wood. From there, I envisioned making a website to sell handmade wood products. I started by creating a mood board where I defined colors, fonts and type of images to use. Then I did the persona and I defined three types of consumers to my brand as well as explaining the concept of it. I developed all the visuals in Adobe Illustrator and after I had designed the website, I thought, why not make the mobile version? So I designed the version of the site fit for an iPhone. After the visual part is fully developed, I changed to Adobe After Effects where I created a video to explain the navigation on every page. This was another one of my projects I liked to develop the most and confirmed that this is the design area I identify myself more with. It was very gratifying to get to the end and see the video running with the site that I developed. I can send the video in order to better realize the site and its dimension.

MOMOWO NEW IDENTITY Subject: 2015 - Visual Design

IADE participated in a European competition on a new project that will be launched. We had to create their identity and visual image. The MOMOWO project seeks to expose, enhance and highlight the many contributions of women in architecture and design throughout history by promoting their cultural and economic importance. After reflecting on the project, I decided to focus my attention on the route key women have taken to get to where they are today in society. Previously, they were seen as objects and not being properly valued. These views changed over time, with an opportunity for women to be involved in areas such as design and architecture. I related this idea to climbing a mountain, beginning at the bottom and planning the route to reach the top where we expose ourselves to the world. I believe this is an individual journey we all have to go on. After I had defined my concept, I started to make a mood board where I used images to delimit the spirit of my project. The key visuals followed this and outlined more concrete images of what I proposed to do. Finally, I presented the color palette being nude and with little recourse to color because to me, this is a long introspective journey.

BERLENGAS ISLAND MOBILE APP Internship: 2014

This was one of the applications I developed in iService, a Portuguese company I previously had an internship with. The client wanted to develop an application for the Berlenga Island in Portugal. This application would allow people to read about the history of the island and its geography as well as have access to the map of the island and even publish their own photos on the map from places they visited. This was the first App I developed alone and it was very rewarding. Besides having enjoyed the end result, it was the first time I had worked directly with a client and fortunately he liked the App I produced. It was definitely a project I liked to develop and work on during the time of my internship. I can send the full presentation upon request.

NIKE WOMEN RACE FINAL PROJECT - DEGREE Subject: 2015 - Visual Design

is project was developed in Visual Design discipline over an entire semester, being the last project developed during the degree. In the project I had the opportunity to consolidate all previously acquired knowledge in order to make it stronger and more consistent. This is a wifinding project for which I had to go through several steps. I started by selecting an event and the space where it would be held, followed by creating the identity of the event and a concept that goes with it. Subsequently I began to develop a way nding system and how it unfolded in space, resulting in the need to design pictograms so that the system becomes more simple. Finally, through photographs of the space and using Photoshop, I made some assemblies in order to explain how the system is presented in space. e last things to develop was a mobile application designed for the event. This project was printed in a book which allowed me to organize all the information, at the same time, I had to deal with the graphic and printing technique information that they requested. is was one of the projects that I feel proudest of having done.

CANADA INTERNSHIP SPRING ADVERTISING Subject: Summer Internship - 2 months

is was one of the rst projects that I developed in my internship with Spring Advertising. e idea of the project was to create personal cards, however they should be customized and transmit the identity of each individual member of the company. To do this, I began to create a mini studio that I used to take pictures of all objects selected by each member of the company. During the shoot I understood several things about working light and the re ection/shadow that it creates. After taking all the photos, I opened the les in Photoshop and started working with each individual image. I removed the background of each image and then worked with the colour to try achieve the same tone in all the pictures. In all stages of the project I have learned new things and solidi ed my knowledge. For me this was a very interesting project and I was proud to participate in it because I liked the concept used and I had the opportunity to learn more about some team members.

BIRTHMARKS VISUAL ESSAY Subject: 2015 - Visual Design Masters

This was one of the first projects that I had developed in my Masters program in the discipline of Project Visual Culture. The project consisted of developing a visual essay that explores one of three different types of representation of the human body. The three types of possible representation were; reality, manipulation or fantasy, and any one of them will have to portray one or more human bodies. I opted to choose the reality in which I had to represent the human body faithfully to reality. This was an easy choice for me because I liked to use photography and video, and being true to life would be easier for me to develop the project I envisioned. After choosing the type of representation, I had to choose what I wanted to represent. What quickly came to my mind was to represent something that distinguishes us from others and from other human beings, birthmarks. I photographed several people, including myself and the end result was a set of photographs with which I created a video where I explain my concept. This was perhaps one of the most conceptual works that I created because we were given complete freedom in regards to the development of the project.

HAPPINESS THE CONCEPT OF HAPPINESS Subject: 2016 - Visual Design Masters

Like the previous project, this work was developed in the first semester of my Masters degree. This project was to transmit my concept of happiness through a set of posters. The style of communication used in the posters had to be one of the following; advertising, artistic or informative. For my project I decided to use the advertising style because it is an area that interests me a lot. In order to represent my concept of happiness I decided to answer the questions of the five W's; Who, What, When, Where and Why. Who makes me happy? What makes me happy? When am I happy? Where I am happy? & Why I am happy? To answer the questions above, I used objects that I felt described or responded the best to each question. In order to synthesize and explain my concept I used the last poster with the phrase "This is why I am happy", in which I transmit the idea that all the above answers create my happiness.
