History
A
dventure Time (also known as Adventure Time With Finn & Jake) is an American animated television series created by Pendleton Ward and produced by Frederator Studios for Cartoon Network. The series focuses on the surreal adventures undertaken by two best friends, Finn the human boy and Jake the dog with magical powers, that dwell in the Land of Ooo. The series is based on a short produced for Frederator’s Nickelodeon animation incubator series Random! Cartoons. After the short became a viral hit on the Internet, Cartoon Network picked it up for a full-length series that had a preview on March 11 2010.
CHARACTERS Finn Finn the Human Boy) is the main protagonist of the series Adventure Time. As shown in “Memories of Boom Boom Mountain,” Finn appears to have been abandoned during infancy and left alone in a woodland. He reveals that he made “boom boom” (in reference to poop.) on a large leaf, fell on it, and lay crying there until Joshua and Margaret (the mother and father of Jake) rescued him from the wilderness to raise him along with Jake, who becomes like a brother to him (as such, Jermaine is also Finn’s adoptive brother). In “Henchman,” when Finn is asked about his parents, he says Jake told him that he came from a cabbage in jest. In “Susan Strong,” Finn states that he doesn’t know anything about his parents, family members, or even other humans.
Status as the last human Finn may be the last normal human in the Land of Ooo, or possibly the world. In the episode “Her Parents,” Lady Rainicorn’s mom says she thought humans were extinct.
4
This lends new significance to his title Finn the human, as his humanity may be unique in Ooo. Up to the episode “Susan Strong,” Finn believes he has never met another human. Finn becomes depressed and “soul-searchy” when he thinks about it. Finn encounters Susan Strong whose identity as a human or mutant is left ambiguous, even though the others in the Hyoomen Tribe were revealed to be mutants. Other characters that appear human-like (such as Penny or the Old Man Henchman) have been confirmed by the show’s creators to be mutants or “humanoids”
Appearance and equipment Finn is a 13 year old human. He has very thin, noodle-y limbs and wears a white hat with two “ears” sticking out on top, which he has proclaimed is “awesome.” His hat covers his entire head, except for his face. He also wears a light blue short-sleeved shirt blue-jean shorts, a green backpack, rolled-down white socks, and a pair of black shoes. When he’s in the Ice Kingdom, he occasionally wears a yellow sweater. He has several missing teeth
because “he bites trees and rocks and stuff,” according to Pendleton Ward, the creator of Adventure Time . He’s also eaten a broom in the Finn being mesmerized by a test during the episode “The Enchiridion!”. Episode “Wizard” Ward has also stated that Finn has blonde hair which can be seen in “To Cut a Woman’s Hair,” where Finn removed his hat (one of three times he has done so), and long golden locks of hair flowed out. His hair had a glowing sheen and extended his body length, until he cut it off and gave it to the Tree Witch. His hair subsequently has started to grow back, as shown in “Mortal Folly” and in “Heat Signature.” He wears white briefs that made an appearance in “City of Thieves,” when Penny stripped him at the end of the episode. Finn’s Magical Hair Although his eye’s typically lack detail and appear as small black circles, their colour is shown in the episode “The Enchiridion” when Finn is being tried by the Dark Magician. His left eye is blue while his right eye is green, characteristics of the genetic condition heterochromia.
Personality and character Though at times violent and aggressive, Finn is a brave and righteous hero. He has a very strong sense of responsibility and gets upset when he is unable to help others. He is almost physically incapable of doing anything evil or unjust, and will struggle greatly against doing such thing, as seen in several episodes such as "City of Thieves," "The Eyes," and "The Enchiridion!." Even though he acts like a normal boy, Finn acts like a gentleman when it comes to ladies. Finn is shown to be a fearless thrill-seeker and enjoys putting himself in the midst of danger simply because he enjoys a challenge. However, as illustrated in "Ocean of Fear," Finn has an unexplained phobia of the ocean, or thalassophobia which may be explained in a future episode, despite the fact that he can effortlessly come into contact with any other body of water. While he portrays himself as a rough and tough hero, Finn has a tender side capable of love and compassion, as shown by his boyhood crush on Princess Bubblegum and his brotherly relationship with Jake.

Jake Jake accompanies Finn on
the back of Bubblegum’s magical swan. Together Finn and Jake are introduced to the magical eye by Princess Bubblegum. As both housemates, and best friends, Finn and Jake share a very deep and strong bond. Having been raised together by Jake’s parents, the duo have a relationship similar to that of siblings, with Jake acting as Finn’s older brother. Though they have an unconditional love for each other,
Finn can get frustrated with Jake because of his laziness and lack of motivation, shown especially in “The Witch’s Garden. As a more laid-back character, Jake often tries to relax Finn’s fiery personality in the face of a struggle, advising him not to worry in most situations. Though he sometimes leads Finn down the wrong path, Jake genuinely means well for his companion and is usually an encouraging and protecting figure in Finn’s life. Finn and Jake have saved each other’s lives on several different occasions, and often adventure throughout the Land of Ooo together.
Lady RAINICORN Finn became friends with Lady Rainicorn after Jake wanted to hang out with both of them at once in the episode "My Two Favorite People". At first Jake regretted introducing the two, but in the end he was glad it happened. Finn and Lady Rainicorn still share a close bond, despite the fact that Finn can't understand Lady Rainicorn's fluent Korean.

Princess Bubblegum Finn has a rather obvious crush, which he denies, on Princess Bubblegum. He is known to interact with her more than any of the numerous other princesses of Ooo, and will jump at the chance to do anything for her. Whenever someone says "Finn," "Princess Bubblegum," and "crush" in the same sentence, he growls and blushes fiercely. Finn does get very protective when someone else comes in between them, as seen in "Ricardio the Heart Guy" in which he claimed to be not jealous, but "weird." Though the princess is seemingly oblivious to Finn's affection, she often calls on him for any royal need. In "The Real You" Princess Bubblegum kisses Finn on the cheek, and he faints a moment after the kiss. Finn always eagerly hopes to win the princess over with his heroic deeds. Finn and Princess Bubblegum share a staunch sense of morality and often work together to bring justice and balance to the Land of Ooo. Finn tries to take her on a "date" in "Go With Me," but Princess Bubblegum later bans Finn from the Candy Kingdom until he stops "acting like a psycho" in the same episode (unbeknownst to her, Marceline influenced it). In Mortal Folly, when Finn and Jake are chasing the Lich King, The Ice King keeps nagging for them to give him permission to marry
7
PB. When he says " its not like you want to marry her" Finn blushes and throws a rock at him, hinting that Finn may want to marry PB. Princess Bubblegum also gives Finn a pink sweater that she knitted with a heart on it. This sweater protected Finn against the Lich using the "power of liking somone a lot". He later refers to the sweater as his "like-like sweater". In Mortal Recoil Finn outwardly confessed to the princess that he "likes her a lot", though, it's unknown if she heard him, as she was still being posessed by the Lich at the time. As of Mortal Recoil, Princess Bubblegum has become 13 years old as a result of her doctors not having enough bubblegum to reassemble her at the end of the episode and she later hugs him and calls him, "Hero." This also makes Finn and Princess Bubblegum the same age. Finn sometimes calls Princess Bubblegum "Peables".
Marceline Though seen as an enemy in her debut, Finn quickly befriends Marceline the Vampire Queen, as he realizes that her seemingly evil ways are just forms of playful teasing. A rowdy and adventurous character, Marceline and Finn share the same vigor and thirst for danger. Marceline finds all kinds of ways to mess with Finn in his head, but are really just mind games of hers. Although Jake still doesn't like Marceline (because Jake is afraid of vampires, but they're good friends- seen in "Heat Signature"), Finn still likes hanging out with her and being "awesome together." In "Go With Me" Finn asks her to go to "Couples Only Movie Night", but only thinks of her as a friend. They were actually grossed out by the idea of kissing, and likewise Marceline did not want to date him.
8
ICE KING Ice King is the recurring antagonist throughout the course of the series, trapping princesses and forcing them to marry him. As his name suggests, Ice King is also his title, announcing himself as "King of Ice. He rules the Ice Kingdom. His Ice Powers are stolen and are contained in his crown, and he is therefore powerless without it.
Appearance Ice King is a short blue old man with unusually tiny fingers and a long pointy nose. He wears a dark blue tunic and has a large beard which covers most of his body. Though the robe gives him the appearance of a larger man, Ice King’s body is actually very withered and skinny. Ice King is seen most of the time with a jeweled crown on his head. Without the crown on, it is revealed that he has a small length of white hair on the top of his head. He does not wear shoes. He has skinny blue feet.
Personality w
Ice King is usually portrayed as grumpy and short-tempered. A genuinely lonely character, Ice King spends most of his time kidnapping and imprisoning the various princesses of Ooo, in hopes of someday
9
marrying one. Due to his poor social skills and arrogant nature, Ice King is unable to woo any of his prisoners and has learned to settle for a forced marriage instead of the loving relationship he craves. With no companions or friends outside of Gunter, his other penguin guards, and numerous ice creatures, Ice King is continuously eager to spend time with anyone who will tolerate his company, including his archenemies Finn and Jake. In "The Eyes" he takes on the disguise of a horse to spy on Finn and Jake in an effort to learn how to be happy, but fails miserably. In short, Ice King's personality is best described by the Cosmic Owl in "Prisoners of Love":
"Hoo! You're a sociopath." He isn't really liked by Finn and Jake, but in the episode "When Wedding Bells Thaw " Finn and Jake become a little more accepting of him, shown when Finn said, "I'm kinda happy for him." In that same episode, Ice King asks Finn and Jake to throw him a "Manlerette Party."
